Take a look ...

A few small celebrations did break out at various times before Green was selected though. The family applauded twice when the Toronto Raptors didn't select Green.
What a pathetic act by his family man ... i expected more from him. Also is there something am missing about this, he was just on Fan590 talking about how he would like to play here and shit.
Thu Jun 30, 2005 12:18 am
Well, he is 18 years old and his family probably didn't want their kid son to live alone in a foreign country... I think that is understandable, whether we're talking about Canada or Albania...
Thu Jun 30, 2005 12:24 am
Can't blame him for not wanting to go to another country.
Thu Jun 30, 2005 12:58 am
I wouldnt want to play with the raptors either with them having that horrible draft.

Hey Jae, are you Lakers strting to assemble an all-ugly 05 draft class or what? Think about it : Bynum, Turiaf and whatchamacallhim, they all definitely can't go pursuing the modeling carreer...
Thu Jun 30, 2005 1:10 am
All ugly in too many ways unfortunately.
Thu Jun 30, 2005 2:36 am
We drafted Graham instead of Green because we need at least 1 non ugly person in our team

I've never seen a male who I did not find ugly, but you think Graham's
less ugly than Green?
HE =
THIS +
THIS
ps. not being racist, just trying to show Graham is UGLY

I kinda agree, but this draft was particulary ugly. In fact, it could be the ugliest draft evah. Bogut? Graham? Charlie V.? Bynum? Deron? I still rather look like Tom Cruise than Bogut.
Thu Jun 30, 2005 3:21 am
Well I understand them not wanting him to leave the country so young, and it will make it harder for them to visit him etc..

So by his family cheering, that automatically means he didn't want to go there? Don't you mean you expected more from his family? Even if he didn't want to go, you can't blame him for not wanting in on the Raptors' black hole.

This is a HS kid who's a long term project, not a carry a bad team on his back and take you to the Finals player. Exactly who's gonna mentor him, Alvin Williams?
Not to mention that since 911, going back & forth to Canada is a very long and painful process. It's not something you want to do every month much less every week, and his family will want to see him as much as possible.
It may be just a player to Toronto folks, but remember this is still someone's baby boy.
I guarantee you, if Cleveland didnt have the #1 pick that year and when that other team picked LeBron the family would have booed and made a much bigger stink. They probably would have asked for a trade. He's a hometown hero. These are real people with roots, ties, relationships, not just assets to be traded around.

Well, judging by fact, they are indeed assests to be traded around. It's just that those young ages are more sensitive to change than others...

Gerald wrote:And if I had to, I'd die for it. Every time I come out on the court, I'd die to be on there."
He may have a tough time playing if he's dead.
Thu Jun 30, 2005 5:16 am
I think he's going to have a few 2/13, 4 point, 2 rebound games where he'll feel dead, but he'll come good.
Thu Jun 30, 2005 5:19 am
What were T-Mac's stats in his first year in Toronto, anyway? Don't expect to judge this kid before 2-3 years have passed. 4-5 years if he follows after JO's example...
Thu Jun 30, 2005 5:28 am
He averaged 7 and 4 in 18mpg. Anyways Raptor fans, have fun...

Since this pic has come up, here's a bit on draft night's fashion choices...

Pay attention to Chris Paul's suit... Hope he plays better than he dresses...

rofl yep. Does whoever makes the desicions in Toronto have a 3 year old child making the decisions? Or maybe they had their wife pick him because she likes the color of the uniforms.
Thu Jun 30, 2005 8:19 am
"Daddy, daddy, let's pick that taaaaall, scary looking guy with no hair. I could squeeze him and hug him aaaaaall day!"
"Now that's sounds like a great idea! And napkins grow on trees! Yes! On trees! Tree-napkins!" (The dialogue between Alson and Babcock on draft day. Oh, Raptors. Gotta love them.)
Thu Jun 30, 2005 9:21 am
Villanueva... no hair on his body whatsoever, looks like a foetus... yep, that'll sell jerseys.
Thu Jun 30, 2005 9:28 am
Does Villenueava have Cancer?? He is butt ugly and has no eye brows!!
Thu Jun 30, 2005 9:32 am
It's not Cancer it's some other thing where he can't grow hair.
Thu Jun 30, 2005 9:34 am
Ooo.. I had that too at the back of my head it looked like a bullet hole but after 2 months i grew hair there
