And they most likely will, the Raptors Organization mentioned that unless they get an amazing deal they will keep the 7th pick.

Chad Ford confirms Utah/Portland swap deal:

Kendall (Denver): I just heard that the Jazz made a trade with the Blazers. What were the details behind that trade?

Chad Ford: (2:33 PM ET ) It's done. Just got off the phone with the Jazz. The deal is No. 3 to Utah for No. 6, No. 27 and a future first that the Jazz had from the Pistons.

Chad Ford: (2:36 PM ET ) The Jazz will choose between Deron Williams and Chris Paul. Jazz are split right down the middle I'm told. My guess is that it's Williams, though my choice would be Paul.

Look for the Blazers to take either Gerald Green, Martell Webster or Andrew Bynum with the No. 6 pick. They'll likely go international with No. 27 ... perhaps Martynas Andriuskevicius.

Chad Ford: (2:37 PM ET ) One quick thing since I keep getting questions. There were no players involved so breath easy Jazz fans ... Ruben Patterson isn't coming to Utah.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scott (Portland): It seems that the Blazers give up a little leverage by making the deal now? Why not wait?

Chad Ford: (2:38 PM ET ) From what I understand, the Jazz were willing to pull the offer off the table if the deal didn't get done before the draft.

Wed Jun 29, 2005 5:00 am

My choice would be Chris Paul too

Wed Jun 29, 2005 5:06 am

Damn what a trade.

1. Bogut
2. Williams
3. Paul
4. Deron Williams
5. Raymond Felton
6. Martell Webster
7. Gerald Green

Same here,I'm especially looking forward to the PG's in this year's draft as they're all very good it seems.

Wed Jun 29, 2005 5:34 am

5. Raymond Felton

I think the 'Cats will pick Green at 5... They may land Felton at 13, especially since Utah, who gets Paul/Williams, is out of the picture and the teams from 7-12 don't really need a PG... except Toronto, but They'll probably get Granger at 7.

Wed Jun 29, 2005 6:18 am

I think the Jazz will take D-Will. The way that team is built they are a half court offense and thats the kind of power point guard Deron is and he would fit well there. Chris Paul is the kinda player who should be in a fast break offense (New Orleans? ) where he'll have some player he can throw those lobs to (JR Smith?) like he did at Wake Forest.

Wed Jun 29, 2005 7:26 am

That's a good trade for both teams involved. I think Portland definitely takes either Green or Webster here, most likely Green.

Reportedly, the Raptors have already filed for Visa papers for Ukic to live in Canada, pending on whether or not he’s still on the board. GM Rob Babcock is stoked, getting a pass-first point guard to add more versatility to the backcourt. He can come off the bench for a couple years while the Raptors wait until they can either trade current point guard Rafer Alston or use the Allan Houston rule on him. If the AH rule is a one-time thing until another CBA gets created, then Toronto will have to live with Alston and Ukic as their point guards. Not a bad combination at all. Once Ukic is ready, they can switch roles without losing any team chemistry.

Wed Jun 29, 2005 7:32 am

I think Webster is going to go at 5.

Wed Jun 29, 2005 7:40 am

the AH rule is a one-time thing

It;s a one-time rule. Usable ONLY this off-season, not beyond. So Rafer stays.

EDIT: Some draft buzz from NBAdraft.net

Portland to Take Webster at 6

After trading down 3 spots and picking up two additional first round picks, (Utah's 27th and next year's Detorit pick) the Blazers are set to take high schooler Martell Webster out of Washington. It was originally thought that they were targeting Gerald Green, who now appears destined to slip to 10 at the Lakers pick.

Warriors Set to Take Diogu at 9

The Warriors have thought long and hard about taking Hakim Warrick at 9, but in the end have apparently settled on Ike Diogu at 9. Diogu gives them a no nonsense power forward with a great work ethic.

Warrick is now in a potential free fall and could slip all the way to Denver at 20.

The Cavaliers picked up $2.1 million in salary-cap space Tuesday by trading swingman Jiri Welsch to the Milwaukee Bucks for a second-round pick in 2006.

The Cavaliers acquired Welsch from the Boston Celtics in late February for a 2007 first-round pick. Welsch struggled after joining the Cavaliers and didn't fit into the future plans. The Cavaliers will have slightly more than $28 million with the move.

Wed Jun 29, 2005 8:07 am

Nice. They didn't need him with Luke Jackson probably playing a bigger part, and they clear some space to hunt FAs...

Th eBucks get a shooter, even if they already have two in Redd and Strickland... Hopefully Welsch's salary won't hinder Redd's resigning process...
