I do agree it's tougher to apply statistics from other teams in history to Detroit, but you can apply Detroit's trends to Detroit, and SAS's trends to SAS.

Detroit: 32-9 (H) 22-19 (A)
Spurs: 38-2 (H) 21-20 (A)

SAS is almost 50-50 away, which is the realm of teams like Sacramento, Memphis, and Minnesota. They just aren't very good away. Detroit is a little better away but still not enough to be notable.

Good away teams are Seattle (26-15 / 26-15) and Phoenix (31-10 / 31-10), but for almost every other team Home Court Advantage is a real factor. Both teams are predicated on high-octane running offense and a lot of 3 pointers, very opposite both Detroit & SAS. Very little reason to apply trends from Seattle/Phoenix to either of these teams.

This doesn't mean Detroit is destined to lose, it just means it's an uphill battle.

I agree. I think its ridiculous to assume the Spurs are going to win just because no team has ever won 6 and 7 on the road. There hasn't even BEEN a game 7 since 1994 (Rockets-Knicks) and last year the Pistons made history by sweeping the 3 home games (didn't they? correct me if I'm wrong.)

So to be honest, I'm rooting for the Spurs, and I think they have a good chance to win, but Im leaning towards the Pistons winning this game.

I'm not sure who you guys are defending the Pistons against...where is that article from a sportswriter saying the Spurs are a 100% lock to win game 7? I can't find it. I've read no less than 14 articles, all saying the same thing: Spurs have home court advantage, Pistons are tough.

I agree it's wrong to assume victory for the Spurs, but there are historical comparisons worth making. That's where the whole "history on their side" thing comes in, though it's hardly a guarantee.

At least the Suns lost to the eventual championship. Duncan played a great game and played like what he is: the best player on the court. Manu really clinched it in the 4th and brought his A game. Detroit was hanging on by a Rasheed Wallace.

Great conclusion to the series, just as exciting as Games 5 and 6. Congratulations to both teams and to Tim Duncan for winning his third Finals MVP trophy. At times it looked as though he might come up short again (he did miss 17 shots and at one point went almost 14 minutes without a field goal), but he made his free throws and found Bowen and Ginobili for those timely threes. Great block by Bowen, a great effort by the Spurs to hold off the Pistons in the final two minutes as they really threatened to pull off the unlikely for a moment there.

The last three games definitely made up for the first four blowouts. Great series, not my favourite but it ended a lot better than I expected it to. Looking ahead to next season, it will be interesting to see if both these teams are back here next June.

Spurs are worthy champions, definitely the champion i prefer over all the other contenders (unless you count Seattle as a contender, heh).

But Detroit deserves a hand, they were 5x as tough as anyone expected when the playoffs started.

Is Scola quick? I would like to see some quickness next to Tim this year. Capable of rebounding too. I like Nazr but I would like to see someone quicker coming off the bench, and I mean quicker than Horry. LOL
