Bender will never be healthy enough to play. Trust me, its been hard seeing all that talent go to waste. Don't expect much Laker fans.

BTW, remember, you have to see the whole deal, which is not just these players, its us trying to clear up room for another big trade, possibly for Ray Allen or Michael Redd, or possibly for a big star on a bad team before the trade deadline.

Jack will be taken before pick 17, I can tell you that.

If the lakers could get Channing Frye and Jarret Jack in this draft tjey would be a real good team...

C- Frye
F- Bender
F- Odom
G- Bryant
G- Jack
6- Butler
7- Mihm

I think the Lakers may be able to get Raymond Felton at the 10 spot. Details in my next mock draft coming tomorrow. V3.

I wouldn't say that would be a real good team. It's not THAT much of an improvement from last year's team, it all depends on how well the rookies play in the season and I wouldn't think they would start two rookies on the team either.

Um...you guys know that Bender weighs like 210 lbs, spread out over 7'? Luol Deng could push him out of the paint with his wrists.

If there's any sort of defensive switch, Bender could be on the other team's Center.

Never. Really; never. Some GM's even rank Felton above D.Williams (and that's counting with a few smokescreens) so that Felton would fall that far, aspecially with Charlotte at the 5 spot. Don't see how.

Would you care to explain?

Sat Jun 18, 2005 12:54 pm

Bender starting? Ha.

I see Bender coming off the bench and adding athletism and some shot blocking. That's it. Do you really think he can start against the Tim Duncan's, Kevin Garnett's, Elton Brand's, and other big men? He couldn't start at PF in the East, let alone the West.

Feltons stock is falling very very rapidly. www.nbadraft.net has Felton slipping all the way down to 13.

LOL, Bender's been injured since the 3rd game of his career. He's never been healthy, I believe his total game played is like less 50 or something. I do agree that he has a lot of potential, but first he needs to put some weight, and make himself tougher. Orelse he's gonna keep getting pushed around, especially now that he's in the west. But Lakers are trading 2 players they barely use, so I think Lakers are getting a pretty good deal, ano for the Pacers, they get a alright big men. Good trade for both teams.

If the Lakers draft Channing Frye I'll murder someone. He's not even 6'10 without shoes and he's a stringbean too... to whoever said this draft was average at best, you have to be joking. There's so much strength in it all through to the 2nd round, which has been called the best 2nd round in recent memory. If the Lakers can pick up Jack and someone big + good (note, + good) I'll be very happy.

Sat Jun 18, 2005 4:03 pm

I hope the Wolves take Alan Anderson in the second round, a very valuable swingman indeed.

Great trade for the Lakers imo.

honestly i think Bender justp layin a Eddie Griffin game from last year would be good enough.
come of the bench, knock down threes, get some boards and block some shots........AND STAY HEALTHY BITCH!!!

The 17th pick is sweeeeet!

how does he manage to injure himself so badly if he's mainly a 3 point shooter?
and btw.. what happened to Griffin? He was making some noise when he first got signed by Minne, then what happened?

Sat Jun 18, 2005 8:14 pm

OK, lets assume Bender is healthy....so he's 220 and 7'0 tall......that never stopped Clifford Robinson from being one of the best defenders in the league or from playing C for a large chunk of his career and guarding Shaq. He's not like Cliff on D but just because he's small doesn't mean he'll get abused.

now, the most interesting thing about this trade is the matchup of Slava vs Croshere....who will be the token white guy off the bench?

i didnt mean thats all hes good for, i shoulda said it better.
i mean hes capable of hitting that three, and if he can come off the bench and provide a spark with good 3 point shooting, of course he can go inside and work in there and do his thing.

Cool Trade

Sun Jun 19, 2005 1:23 am

As Pacers fan, i hate the trade. We should trade another guy, maybe Pollard...we don't need another PF/C in Slava, we already have way to many of those..George is OK, but i like Bender much better..and i still believe he will play...sucky trade, indeed.

Sun Jun 19, 2005 2:31 am

How many Laker-related threads do we have??

Good trade, I guess. Bender is a nice guy to play with in Live

There are no similarities between Bender & Uncle Cliffy, Cliffy is 6' 10" and 240 lbs, Bender is 7' under 220. Cliffy is at the perfect weight for his position of PF. He's right up there in weight with big guys like Kwame Brown, Drew Gooden, and Dirk Nowitzki. The league's best defenders weigh even more, Duncan is at a solid 260 at 6' 11.

A valid comparison is Tyson Chandler and Gasol, who are still considered a bit weak for their size at 7'. Gasol is 240, Chandler is 235.

C'mon, Bender can't even boast he's bigger than the team's SG Fred Jones, who's 6'2" 219 lbs. With only a 6'2" frame, his muscle mass ratio must be completely opposite Bender's.

Sun Jun 19, 2005 5:28 am

lol i'd have to agree with INDypacersfan here

ever since that monster game he had in the mcdo's all star game, i've been waiting for this guy to break out. great talent- an agile 7fter who can hit 3's but no true position on the floor.

yes- never got big minutes because of artest and co. but when he was did get decent reserve minutes, he would just get hurt.

and then all of sudden he's going to put the purple & gold on, and poof, he's going to turn it all around.

lol i've heard this all before from the laker nation. first it was players like medvenko, george, rush, even tracy murray & pargo being great additions or whatever. or how this year the lakers were going to make the playoffs and do some damage there

if michael jackson donated some jesus juice to the lakers, some of you laker fans would say it could bring some decent scoring off the bench, keep defenders honest.

Sun Jun 19, 2005 6:48 am

i honestly like this deal for both sides involved. the pacers really only lose out on the 17th pick, which could turn out to be garbage(or gold but i doubt it). they will be getting some nice cap room or the ability to make a big trade for a top player near the trade deadline(as mentioned above by indy). the lakers get a 4 that they really need and 2 first round picks. i think bender will fit nicely into the system in LA also. so like i said imo its win/win

Sun Jun 19, 2005 12:11 pm

Damn, Fred Jones is fat :P

Sun Jun 19, 2005 1:32 pm

You seen him??

Freddie is massive, muscles everywhere, he'b be like a brick wall to run into lol.

Honestly like i said, Bender do a Griffin type job ill be happy.

Sun Jun 19, 2005 1:32 pm

Wat does Fred Jones have to do with this?????
