Manu was indeed drafted in 99, he was the 57th pick. (Second round.)

He played in Italy till a few years back.

About the 2000 draft, I don't think Redd is better than Martin?
About 2001, I'd take Parker over Arenas, plus Randolph isn't all that bad.

I'm not knocking K-Mart. He's a great defensive player. But he's still only good for about 15 points and 8 boards. Redd has developed into the best player from that draft.

And 2001, Tony Parker is good...but Gilbert Arenas is already an All-Star and averaged 25 points this year. Zach Randolph I'd definitely have at #2 though.

Yeah, although I think if Parker played on his own, thus no Duncan, I think he could put up 25 a night too. This kid is good, his speed alone sets him apart. I really think he has a long way to go, he'll be pretty damn good.

I'll give you that Redd is better than Martin, but I think given Martin's a big man, he was quite valueable to whatever team picked him. (NJ< right?) Quality big men are rare to come by today, I guess they felt they could pass up Redd. But besides that, yeah, Redd is a great player at the moment.

Injuries haven't helped Martin, nor has the fact he's yet to play more than 35 minutes per game. Still, he's yet to put up really good numbers for a whole season while Redd has posted solid, first-option shooting guard numbers the last couple of years. I too would consider Redd the best player from that draft, at least in terms of current production.

Difficult to argue against Arenas, though the first round in 2001 was lot stronger, with guys like Tony Parker, Zach Randolph, Joe Johnson, Pau Gasol, Jason Richardson, Richard Jefferson and Jamaal Tinsley. Richard Jefferson in particular was probably on his way to an All-Star season before he injured his wrist.

I'll go with Redd....Martin isn't exactly a great rebounder for a man with his attributes and his game flourishes on a fast paced team. He's like Amare except not as good on the break and much less half court game.

I'd go with Arenas too....he can score @will. Whilst Parker CAN do the same damage as Arenas, his inconsistency holds him back. Plus he's much easier to abuse on the other end.

I'd definitley go with Redd. He is really going to flourish when he gets a chance to play with a good team and has some talent surrounding him. Hes a great guy too. He has been stuck in Milwaukee and hasn't cried, hasnt bitched, he's just continued to put up fantastic numbers. Hes a great player who is really going to be good with the pace- um... i mean... the next team he plays for.

martin is just as good as amare on the break, maybe better. difference being amare is beating centers down the court... while kmart is doing that to PF's and occasionally SF's

on a side note, matt- i think amare proved he can score consistently in the halfcourt after wathching him destroy duncan on offense

i think it's a close call between redd & martin. redd's developed into a good scorer but that's really it. kmart probably won't ever be a #1 scoring option, but is a pretty good 2nd or 3rd guy. and he's a beast on defense, especially from the helpside

as far as the 2001 draft, arenas is the best but there are a handful of guys not that far behind him, unlike the 2000 draft- that's just full of disappointments

K-Mart isnt just numbers. It is the energy he brings to the floor that makes him a great players. K-Mart is way better than Redd. But Redd does have an awesome jump shot. No one can block that, it is too fast.
