I don't think any team really needs Dennis Rodman right now. If they want a veteran power forward with championship experience at an affordable price, Horace Grant hasn't officially retired yet - and he's probably in slightly better condition.

Tyrone Hill can rebound too. Very Rodmanish player, apart from the weirdness.

Yeah, I forgot the Cavs cut Hill loose. More chance of him being picked up than Grant.

I'm not sure exactly, but it can't be that far away. Sometime in mid March perhaps? :?:

Could be, though that wouldn't have given guys like Coles and Hill much time to sign elsewhere. You'd think if a team wanted to give a player a chance to sign with a contender before the deadline they'd give them ample time...then again, it's a business.

I think players can be signed until the end of the regular season...

They can be...but there are regulations based on when a player signed can compete in the playoffs...and the release date is around the beginning of March (usually it's March 1st) that's why there's always a rash of waivings in late Feb...

Yes, that's the deadline I was thinking of. I guess it's probably already passed, judging by what you said. No playoffs for Hill or Coles after all.

Yes it can have, the Cavs aren't going to the playoffs so the deadline means nothing to them.

I'm pretty sure the deadline is so that players can elligible for the playoffs. If the team isn't going to the playoffs then it really doesn't matter to them, does it?

You're right, that's the deadline we were talking about. :)

On a related note, Tyrone Hill has signed with Philadelphia, though it didn't mention anything about his eligibility for the playoffs. Perhaps the deadline hasn't been passed after all?

Well, the rosters are adjusted at the time a team goes to the playoffs, I still remember the Lakers didn't let Rider play two years ago, Rider was not injured & was part of their roster during the regular season.

At the time the playoffs come, they are allowed to choose what is the team they're taking to the playoffs. That's why I remember they didn't let Rider play, they prefered to go with Harper.

Yeah, the playoff rosters aren't announced until the conclusion of the regular season, but there is a deadline for players to be on the roster and still be eligible to be on the playoff roster.

In some point they are related, since with a deadline to contract those players, would automatically get you in the possibility of being in the playoffs. But what I meant is the teams take their roster, at the time they are preparing the roster, all the players they have are eligible to be in the playoffs cause of that (deadline).
