Okay I'm sick of this idiot so I ask:
Is Stephen A Smith a total jackass that has no clue about basketball or is he just one of many idiots that claim to be experts?
Sun May 29, 2005 10:57 am
Sorry, furious, couldn't resist. I think he screams too damn much...and it's another one who thinks he's an expert...
Sun May 29, 2005 12:00 pm
He really just overdoes it. No one cares about him, so he has to sit on ESPN and rant at guys who are doing bad so he can sound intelligent. It's pretty pathetic to watch.

He's worst then Tom Tolbert. Stephen A Smith has never played in the NBA for pete's sake
Sun May 29, 2005 2:17 pm
He's a personality, get over it.
Sun May 29, 2005 2:54 pm

Sun May 29, 2005 2:58 pm
I think that Stephen A Smith is kind of funny and kind of a fool...he makes their show on ESPN entertaining, but I don't think he has any idea wut the heck he is smoking there!

The tendency to just hire former players no matter what is one thing I dislike about the networks. Other than Barkley...
Sun May 29, 2005 3:48 pm
Even though sometimes I don't agree with what Stephen A says, but sometimes he is right and that's just his way of expressing his feelings is by hollering out and things like that. I like when people don't have to act like their perfect on TV like some anaylsis do, but Stephen A just talks like he would talk to anybody on the street at least he isn't faking.
Sun May 29, 2005 4:16 pm
i can't believe the network kicked David Aldridge to the curb in favor for that angry black guy who resembles ludicris
Sun May 29, 2005 4:41 pm
SAS is a tool
but i like what he says
Mon May 30, 2005 4:19 am
Total tool. I wish Barkley would bash Smith's head or something.
Mon May 30, 2005 4:34 am
tool. he's an absolute fucking moron

Granted, but given the importance personalities are in the NBA it's worth talking about in my opinion. It's not unlike disliking a character or even an actor on a TV series.
I don't care for him myself. I don't mind analysts who are "animated" but he does annoy me because he seems to make comments that go beyond disagreeing for the sake of having a discussion. Some of his points seem to be observations he's decided on making before the game even begins, completely irrelevant and/or incorrect.

I have to disagree there, I don't care for Stephen A. but Tolbert's terrible. Can't stand him, even though his birthday is October 16th as well. What an honour.
One of my favourite Tolbert comments from this season was during a Heat game when his broadcast partner (possibly Breen or Tirico) commented on a dunk by Shaq that threatened to pull down the backboard. Tolbert commented along the lines of "It's not going to happen. If it hasn't happened yet, it's not going to."
What I find really entertaining about that is not only did Shaq destroy
two backboards in 1993, his rookie year, but
Tom Tolbert actually played for the Magic that year, starting 61 games alongside Shaq.
Another favourite from this season was Tolbert dismissing the idea of buying replica jerseys. "The only jersey I'll ever wear is my own." It's nice to know that somebody will.

lol Stephen A. Smith is a legendary tool
Mon May 30, 2005 11:30 pm
lol, that would be hilarious if Steven joined with TNT and was Barkley's new punching bag. Now THAT would be something worth paying for.
Andrew, whenever you post I always imagine you as Conan sitting in that chair in your avatar, with a little smirk on your face and like sipping a glass of wine. lol
