Dallas Mavericks (22-11) @ Los Angeles Lakers (23-12)

Image
Jerry Stackhouse had a big game, scoring
36 points to make up for Dirk Nowitzki
sub-par offensive night.

Lakers started the game well, jumping to an early 6-0 run. They then extended their lead to 10 points and even got a big break when Nowitzki was called for his 2nd foul with still 6 minutes left in the 1st period. But Mavs made some defensive adjustment and with Stackhouse stepped up his offensive game, scoring 11 points to lead a Mavs comeback. At the end of the period, Lakers hold a 3 point lead, 31-28. In the 2nd quarter, Lakers still hold a slim 3 point lead and lead by 5 points most of the quarter. But Mavs again find another player to step up to make up for Nowitzki sub-par game. Finley scored 15 points in this quarter to not only cut the deficit but helped the Mavs grabbed the lead. At halftime, it was Mavs on top, 61-53.

In the 3rd quarter, Lakers had a great start and made a run led by Kobe Bryant great shooting. They cut the deficit to only 3 points, 63-60 just 3 minutes gone in this quarter. Mavs successfully protected that lead. In 3:46 mark, Finley got injured and never came back in the game. After that, Lakers tied the game at 71-all but Mavs recover just in time and still hold an 82-80 at the end of the 3rd period. Lakers then missed their first 4 shot in the final period which helped the Mavs built another 8 point lead. Still trailing, Lakers got another big blow when Mihm was injured. Without Mihm, Lakers struggles greatly on their defense as they allowed the Mavs to pull away and built as much as 17 point lead. Since Mihm injury, Mavs outscored Lakers 29-21 to win this game, 117-101 and snapped Lakers season-high 8 game winning streaks.

Boxscore l Mavericks l Lakers l
Player of the Game l Jerry Stackhouse
Screenshots from the Game
Chris Andersen led the Lakers in scoring in the 1st half.
Michael Finley had a great 2nd quarter to help the Mavs grabbed the lead in this quarter.
Michael Finley got injured in the 3rd period and never came back.
Chris Mihm also got injured and was a big blow for the Lakers.

Looks like the Mavs were too powerful offensively and Stackhouse went off. They also got a funny starting lineup with Vazquez starting at the PF and Dirk starting at the center spot. Tough loss though

With the latest rosters , it seems like Dirk is eventually moved to C after the first CPU roster reshuffle... don't know why... Dampier always gets shafted...

Nice to see you back, Michhy, hope you're back for good (Y)

well i'm just a bit rusty in playing live
But yeah Mavs had lots of offensive weapon, they win with Dirk struggling in this game.
about the starting line-up yeah its kinda weird...

remember i'm using the default EA roster... but the CPU always put Dirk at starting center position. Vazquez is the highest PF rating in Mavs so he get the starting PF..
Mavs Starters maybe a little bit weird but it doing wonder for them as they are no.5 in West.

thanks for all the comments.
i try to play 1 more game today and do the recap

you were right when you said you struggle against the wing guards as Stack and Fins drilled you bigtime in this one....tough loss, although I wish the Mavs would pass Diggler the ball :x

well they can do many things, drive the basket, made a jumpshot or even 3-point shots. i also got problem with Suns with JJ and Q on their lineup.
by the way ho is Diggler

Los Angeles Lakers (23-13) @ Sacramento Kings (30-8)

Image
Peja Stojakovic paced the Kings with his
24 points and help his team for an easy win
against rival-Lakers

Both teams struggles making basket early in the game with Kings missing their first 5 shots before making 7 straight points. Lakers, on the other hand, made just 1 basket in 8 tries and trailed 7-2 with 5 minutes left in the quarter. Kings extended their lead to 12 points behind Stojakovic hot shooting. He scored 17 points and equaled Lakers output in this quarter. Kings led, 28-17 going to the 2nd period. In the next quarter, Kings made a 10-1 run to extend their lead to 20 points, 38-18. Lakers tried to cut the deficit to a manageable margin but Kings only allowed Lakers to trade basket with them. At halftime, Kings still enjoyed a 20 point lead, 59-39.

In the 3rd quarter, Lakers still found no answer to Kings’ offense. Lakers also managed to score only 2 points in the first 4 minutes of the quarter. Kings had their biggest lead in this quarter at 33 points, 74-41. The 3rd quarter ended with Lakers only scoring 11 pints and now trails, 85-50. The final period was just a formality with Lakers trailing by big 35 point deficit going in this quarter. Lakers bench players played most of this quarter. Lakers outscored the Kings in this quarter, 34-15 to make the final score respectable. Lakers lost, 100-84 in what could be the worst game by the Lakers this season so far. This was Lakers 2nd straight lost after their 8 game winning streaks.

Screenshots from the Game
Caron Butler was fouled by Marcus Fizer.

ceekay vs. jxuusa

ImageImage
ceekay (left) goes for a two-handed dunk in front of jxuusa. jxuusa (right) made a
lucky 3-point shot as shotclock almost gone.

Jan 14 Sat -- Both players came in this game with advantage on their side. Jing Xu is taller, bigger and stronger between the two but Cyriel Klitsie had the speed, longer range and dribbling skill. It just a matter of which player will use their advantage to win this game.

Jing Xu had the first possession of the game, but just like his first match-up with Reyes, he dribbled the ball and took a hurried shot as shot clock going down. After that miss, Klitsie got the ball and drove to the basket but Xu blocked him from behind. Klitsie recovered the ball and made the follow-up lay-up. He again used his quickness to escape Xu defense for an easy dunk and took a 2-0 lead. He missed his next shot and Xu got the ball. Xu tried posting up Klitsie. Xu got away with a push and Klitsie fell to the floor. This gave Xu the opportunity and made a lay-up, cutting the deficit to 2-1. In his next possession, Xu again dribble the ball and threw another hurried shot from 3-point line. Luckily, the ball went in and Xu grabbed the lead 3-2. But after that it was all Klitsie. Again using his speed, Klitsie scored easy basket one after the other. His 5th point was the best one as he goes for a 2-handed reversed dunk in front of Xu resulting loud cheering from the crowd. He then capped the game with a dunk, winning this one 11-3.

Cyriel Klitsie will now advance to the semifinal round of this tournament and will face Rommel Ritarita.

Screenshots from the Game

Klitsie sealed the game with another great dunk.
Xu saw an opportunity to score when Klitsie went down.
