Tue May 10, 2005 12:26 pm
anyway, Drex, honestly u didnt mean that malone comment didya??
That shows you how much of a Laker fan I am

They had there problems for the last 3 years anyway, so honestly what did it really do??
Shaq was the MVP of the Laker championship run obviously, i think Kobe possibley was the year he averaged 30ppg 7rpg 6apg, but thats debatable, and it got us a loss anyway to the spurs.
Anyway.....Go Stevie

Steve Nash is going to be the 1st and last NBA MVP to never make the HOF. I think it should have gone to Dwyane Wade.
Wed May 11, 2005 10:56 pm
Dwyane Wade?? That's an even worse choice...He's not even the most valuable player on his team

Maybe things were a bit easier when the defense was forced to double team a certain bigman down in Miami. What do you know, Wade's shining almost, if not brighter than Bryant at the moment.

big up to Steve Nash on bein the first Canadian NBA MVP
i would have voted for Shaq but both of them had great seasons so u can go wrong with either choice

If he keeps it up, the HOF is in reach -- it's really that not hard anymore. But I think we should all agree in that Steve Nash = Worst. MVP. Ever.
Thu May 12, 2005 5:40 pm
I think the saddest thing is that John Stockton never won an MVP but was clearly a much much better player than Nash. (Oh cmon...admit it!)

Remember when Kidd was traded to Nets and he really improved them, should he have gotten MVP?
If you say yes to that, but no to Nash; somethings wrong.
Consider this: Kidd and Nash both drastically improved their teams, which should be enough to deserve Most Valuable Player. Whether Nash is replaceable or not doesn't matter, he was very much a crucial part of his team. As the award implies the MOST crucial. Kidd was the same, but unlke Kidd, Nash's team is Number 1, which has a big role in MVP. Also Kidd had to compete with duncan who had his team at number 1 and also did it basically alone. Shaq on the other hand had Wade; who had a terrific rookie year and this was expected of him already whether Shaq was there or not.
Okay the flip side:
Yes NAsh MVP...it's funny he got it playing beside someone who averaged 26ppg and 9 rpg, Amare. Also how did he get it? He didn't improve anyone- Marion was already good, Amare was only bound to get better do this whether Nash was there or not. Q is excellent, Joe Johnson (look at Amare and Wade comment). Seriously! If anyone improved anyone it was Shaq! SHaq made players you never heard of decent players that you would consider to take on your team. Also if you want to talk about how Nash improved his team look at how Shaq leaving destroyed his last team. As much as I am a Kobe fan; really look at what Shaq did by leaving.

^ what he said
check out yesterday's issue of the links...the intern guy had an argument using situations where he traded nash with other mvp candidates and compared their new lineups...

Numbers wise, it wasnt a whole lot different, his shooting percentages were terrible, but he had nagging injuries, after the all-star break, i beleive he started shotting better, being more healthy.
Kobe just needs to be a better leader, simple, needs to grow up a little.
BTW, why all the hating on Stevie??
He did average a double-double a game, and lead the team to an NBA best record, something Kidd didnt do, despite how good the turnaround of The Nets was.
Phoenix's was probably better, even in the the tougher conference.

PJ Brown averaged a double-double too.

Come now, when did disagreeing with a point of view or a decision become "hating"?
Fri May 13, 2005 2:07 pm
who's hating on him? Nash is ok in my book. I just don't think he should've been MVP.
Fri May 13, 2005 2:32 pm
lol pj brown gets a vote. shaq only has 1 regular season mvp on his nba resume, that's pretty interesting.
maybe there should be a specific definition to what the MVP is so people aren't dogging nash for winning it
good for nash getting the nba mvp. can't say he "deserved" it the most but hey, bow down to the mvp

I always say hating when it has stuff to do with this, in real converstation and on here, i just use it that way, it seems that everyones bagging him coz Kidd never got one.
PJ Brown averaged a double-double too.
Yeah he did, and that did his team a whole lot of good didnt it?
i guess at least one person thought it did anyway

Fair enough, but I don't see how what some of us have been saying really qualifies as "hating". No big deal, I just think the terms "hater" and "hating" get thrown around too much these days.
Fri May 13, 2005 2:57 pm
kurt thomas averaged a double double too
Fri May 13, 2005 3:40 pm
Shaq should've been named as the 04-05 MVP. I think this was his last chance to get another MVP award because he's getting kinda old and his stats are not improving next season, I don't think they will.
Watch out for next season >>> Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, Dirk N, and Wade.

It's not hating, but you also have to realize that Phoenix is a much better team.
Amare >>>>>>>>>> Todd MacCulloch
Marion >>> Kenyon
Q-Rich

Joe Johnson >> Kittles
Nash < Jason Kidd

I agree, especially with people who like players, it's like you can't argue against something or against a player, and if you are you must be hating. I hate the term, it annoys me so much, their's people who don't even argue and just say "You're a hater"

Don't hate on T-Mac
