Golden State Warriors Future...

this also concerns dynastys, because im planning on using the info i recieve to build a successfull franchise, but ill post here, because GS are a favourite team of mine.

what do the golden state warriors need to do to be a dominant team in the future?

- ideal rookie to draft?
- needed player types eg. bring in a slasher etc
- possible trades
- management changes
and anything else that you could inform me about on the warriors.

golden state is doing good right now. if they had gotten davis earlier in the season, they would be in the playoffs right now.

as for an ideal draft choice, they should pick Tiago Splitter Of Brazil. i heard good things about him and his nba comparison is pau gasol. he would be a great backup for murphy or if foyle or murphy are on a cold streak, he can start for them.

as for the off-season, they should really go in the hunt for stromile swift. he can play the C for them while foyle is the backup. with adding swift to this team, the warriors would be a contender for the playoffs next year and a fun team to watch with all the high flyers like davis, j-rich and swift.

I think we need more of a strong big man that can produce right away. Splitter is still raw for the NBA, as he's not even a starter in Tau in Europe. Gasol was a 2 -3 year starter at Barcelona when he was drafted. I believe we should get Chris Taft. There is a lot of talk about his commitment and concentration, but his playing style is what the Warriors miss...

A strong rebounding PF with a mean streak, coming off the bench would be good. Danny Fortson comes to mind. Murphy is good at rebounding and scoring with jumpers, stretching inside defenses in th eprocess, but he's too soft to dominate the pain physically and psychologically. We need a bully that can terrorize opposition...

Nothing specific comes to mind, but I don't really like Dunleavy's softness and lack of passion... Maybe a Bruce Bowen type of SF would fit the team better. Anyway, BD, J-Rich and Troy Murphy are enough to handle the scoring depatment. I would also like to see Foyle get the boot but noone is stupid enough to take on his even stupider contract...

- management changes

Chris Mullin has bound the team's salary cap on J-Rich, Murph and Foyle, but managed to steal away BD so we're on even terms right now. Let's see how this goes. Although giving 60 MILLION DOLLARS to Adonal Foyle would get him fired were I the owner.
Coach Montgomery started off bad but got better in his results. Th epositive thing is he did not try to enforce his Stanford offense on BD and gave him enough freedom to do his thing. So he has the benefit of time.

I'd have to agree with you here, Taft would make a better fit, especially considering that the Warriors already have Biedrins in the fold....although I've got a feeling that Chris Mullin will fall in love with the Banana Splitter and go that way

I like what I saw on the Golden State when they beated Los Angeles I think last week on the regular season. Baros Davis is one of the elite PG in the league, and if Jason Richardson keep on improving this is going to be a great dynamic duo. Troy Murphy is great too on the treys.

They need a strong low post player. Think Swift as was mentioned or Sam Dalembert. A player who can play with his back to the basket, rebound and block shots. Thats all we need to be a winner.

Dan Gadzuric.

Dan Gadzuric doesn't play with his back to the basket, and neither does Swift. Dalmbert, a little, but he's a dunker, and this season has liked to take the mid-range jumper more. He does have a little hook shot and a few post moves, and is better than Gadz and Swfit in that area, but not really his thing.

I don't like the Swift idea, he's too short, and he's really a PF, not a center. While he's athletic and all, at 6'9, he still gives up a lot at center, and he's not the best rebounder.

Gadzuric is a good idea, hustle, rebounding, shot blocking and defense. He's got great athleticism, and the Warriors should be a running club, so he'd fit in nicely. Dalmbert would also be good, but he's too expensive. The Warrior will be over the cap next season, so they can only sign FA's up to the MLE.

That would disqualify Dalmbert and Stromile Swift, which would leave only Gadzuric. Gadzuric is I think restricted to Milwaukee up to the MLE, so Milwaukee can match anything the Warriors offer, and have said they want to retain him.

Adonal Foyle's contract is a bit high but not ridiculous. Danny Fortson makes $5M a year, will make $7M at the end of the contract and doesn't provide any consistent shot blocking. Vin Baker, $5M. Cardinal, $5M to $7M. Calvin Booth $6M to $7M. Jason Caffey $6M.

GS has so much potential i'm not sure if they should tinker too much. They've got every position well covered except C.

Mainly they just need some consistency, which i think will happen with Baron Davis playing a full season for them. The one stat that stands out is #28 out of 30 in FG%, .430.

Oh, okay, should've quoted, I was so confused lol.

Foyle got the contract because he's a center really, if you're a center in this league, and can put up over 4 points and 7 rebounds, someone will give you at least MLE.

...but Golden State was the only one that would give him that contract, it was just terrible, and though he would've been overpaid because he's a center, they went overboard.
