Lol I'm still getting over the shame of buying the new Star Wars game in public. It'll be a while before I can work up enough street-cred to be seen buying rap cd's :P

i just discovered that i have dead prez- RBG on my comp....very nice indeed

Mon Apr 25, 2005 9:56 am

If you don't already have Let's Get Free then get that, imo a lot better then RBG...

Mon Apr 25, 2005 10:25 am

I have a retail copy of Let's Get Free, very good indeed. Although sometimes I feel riduculous being a white kid listening to their messge. :D

when that day comes I will turn the music off or do everything to import my own music. In my opinion rock goes better with ice hockey

Mon Apr 25, 2005 10:24 pm

Maybe so, but the rap they have in NBA Live sounds absolutely horrific. If it was decent rap I could tolerate it, but it's shit.

Mon Apr 25, 2005 11:16 pm

^haha, so true. i turned that ea sports jukebox off about half an hour after installing the game. i usually have windows media player opened in the background.

So sad the Fugees split up, they were so unique and definitely one of the best groups ever.

Also whats happend to Wyclef?, his own stuff was pretty good but now hes gone missing and even Lauryn Hill's disappeared. Pras wasnt very good but he did add the third voice to the Fugees and it helped alot in making their songs sound great.

I hope the Fugees get back together although its highly unlikely, their a gift to the world of music.

Lauryn Hill's redone version of Bob Marley's Turn Your Lights Down was the last I heard outta her.

By the way I strongly recommend the purchase of Wyclef's 'The Carnival' Album. (y)

i think they are working on a 3rd album

Tue Apr 26, 2005 8:23 pm

Yeah, I still enjoy the Score album and I hardly don't listen to rap music anymore.
It's a really good album that everyone should own.

Akon's pretty good from what Ive heard so far of his(only Locked UP & Lonely)....hes very humble...not flashy like Usher, Ginuwine or Jagged Edge etc...hes kinda similar to Musiq in terms of style.

Locked Up is a pretty good track....Styles P tears it up pretty well on the track...but I hate that violin beat u get when they sing the chorus...but love the beat that goes on in the verses....

Lonely is a nice track too....for some reason I like that chipmunk like voice...its even more screechier than the Kanye West - Through The Wire Chipmunk but it goes well with the track. (y)

Matt, I dont think the Fugees are comin back....they kinda broke up cause of problems between em and I dont think their the type of ppl that make up stories for the media like Gorilla Cent and The Dame did.....but if they are its going to be awesome Im sure (y)

Well its underground because they won't be seen on top 30 countdown or whatever, and there themes and sound of the music is a lot different then the mainstream rap.

Underground Music = Artist/s that release albums via recording studios without being signed upto a label....They record music in studios just like every rapper but they dont belong to a record label so hence their albums are not available in cd shops and only passed on via underground dealers/sellers and its likely theirs only a few copies out there and normally the artist himself would hand it out to his friends etc.

Just because it doesnt make it to the Top 100 of a chart or sounds different doesnt make it underground rap.

Everyone who you see on videos and signed upto some sorta record company may it be Warrior Records or Warner Bros Records is a "commercial" artist/rapper.

Its the same with every other music genre...although Im yet to here of underground pop bands...

Tue Apr 26, 2005 11:09 pm

Except even rappers that are signed to labels are still classed as underground MC's eg Aesop Rock, Murs, Aceyalone...

Because there style and lyrical content is WAY different to what mainsteam rappers would rap about

Tue Apr 26, 2005 11:57 pm

True.....underground rappers are also considered those signed to independent labels.

Akon's pretty good from what Ive heard so far of his(only Locked UP & Lonely)....hes very humble...not flashy like Usher, Ginuwine or Jagged Edge etc...hes kinda similar to Musiq in terms of style.

i've heard the whole CD...it's pretty good, but i got bored of it quick. Akon got nothing on Ginuwine though :)

Lonely is a nice track too....for some reason I like that chipmunk like voice...its even more screechier than the Kanye West - Through The Wire Chipmunk but it goes well with the track

i take it you like sped up soul samples? personally i don't like them. They sound kinda gay

Wed Apr 27, 2005 1:44 am

their not Underground MC's...I guess u could call em Underground Rap...but their not Underground Rappers thats a whole different thing altogether.

I dont like Ginuwine hes a bit annoying....that song Sex is awful it sounds like a Britney Spears song. (n)

Yeah I dunno....for some reason that voice is kinda nice....I know alotta ppl hate it though.

btw do u guys like Jamaican/Rasta rap?....u know guys like Jamaican and Apache Indian(he sucks though)....its pretty nice...I think The Fugees would classify into that rap style aswell maybe with slight variation...I think its called Raggae(Rap+Reggae).

Wed Apr 27, 2005 10:19 am

I don't think you can call Aceyalone underground...he's on some ESPN2K5 Games.

Oh yeah, NBA Live had Rock in their games, you just never realized it, especially in 96.

Wed Apr 27, 2005 11:46 pm

What's a good Big L song with a nice beat? My friend thinks he sucks just cuz e's never heard of him, and he's never even listened to him yet. I wanna give him a good song so he sees that L is better than Shiddy Cent. I'm thinkin Ebonics or Holdin it Down?

Thu Apr 28, 2005 12:02 am

dunno....i like Flamboyant

I'm listening to Z-Ro- Life.....very nice album (Y)
