They are still doing pretty well without curry and deng, they are leading the magic by 42 points, p.s. damn I should have watched this game instead the washington/cleveland one
Sat Apr 16, 2005 12:52 pm
I don't think so.. They can't beat the Pacers or the Wizards.
Sat Apr 16, 2005 1:23 pm
I'd say it's possible though.
Sat Apr 16, 2005 1:26 pm
About a week ago I liked their chances a lot better, I still think they've got a chance to make the second round. As for not being able to beat the Wizards or Pacers, they've taken a couple of wins from those teams this season and Washington is just as inexperienced in the playoffs. I wouldn't guarantee Chicago will prevail, especially with Curry out, but I wouldn't write them off so soon.
After all, wasn't it only a couple of months ago that a lot of folks were predicting their stay in the top eight wouldn't last long and they'd be struggling to finish as high as ninth?

Go Bulls!!!!! they may become the last year's piston, you never know, everyone on bull's roster can score, they do not have any real super star.
Think about this, they almost won the game against Spurs last month or something, and they should have won the game against piston last week if AD did not make that silly mistake.
Sat Apr 16, 2005 3:31 pm
I see Bulls beating Indiana 4-2 but that's only if JO doesnt return. Either way, they have a good shot @ a 2nd round, i'm gonna pencil them in there atm.
Sat Apr 16, 2005 5:39 pm
thanks for the love, matt...
other then andrew...lol some deeper thoughts or explanations would be nice...
the bulls have faced adversity all year and so far have overcome it. the bulls are a strong defensive unit so that should keep them in their games. if duhon and/or nocioni can provide some consistent offense, then i'd feel very confident heading into the 1st round
Sun Apr 17, 2005 1:34 am
If Curry and Deng weren't out, they could definitely make it to the 2nd round against Washington or Indiana. Now, they don't have a chance and I would like to say they do because I don't care too much for the Pacers and as much as I like Arenas and Hughes, I don't like the Wizards as a team.
Sun Apr 17, 2005 8:13 am
What if they win the Finals

I can't wait to see that heheh I mean last season nobody thought the Pistons would win it and they did.

Go Bulls!!!!! they may become the last year's piston,
Hahahaha, LMAO, good one

As much as you love the Bulls, there's no way they can be like the Pistons. Pistons were much better in D.
On-topic: I'd say they have a big chance of getting to the 2nd round. They can match-up to both the Wizards and Indiana
Sun Apr 17, 2005 11:17 am
It would be great if they did though... but Curry and Deng are both vital parts to their team, and I don't think Gordon and the rest of the guys can carry the team. I wouldn't think experience would be factor if they were to play the Wizards, since none of their main guys have had much playoff experience either (i think)
Sun Apr 17, 2005 12:56 pm
It's possible, but without Curry, they can't touch the Wiz, especially since the X-Factor Haywood is back...

No chance at all? Home court advantage would give them a pretty good chance in my opinion. They're 26-14 at home, 20-20 on the road in the regular season so they've found a way to win home and away. Indiana is 19-20 on the road, Washington is 16-23. The playoffs are a different ballgame, but to say the Bulls have absolutely no chance of advancing is selling them a bit short, even if they are shorthanded.
Sun Apr 17, 2005 5:30 pm
The Bulls are shorthanded and are inexperienced... playing the Wizards might allow them to win but tthe Pacers led by Miller whos averaging 20 ppg in his last 9-11 games or something.. will be tough to beat!
I think the Bulls have as much chance of advancing as half of the Eastern teams!

You are correct, but just remember that alot of that 19-20 road record for the Pacers came with the pacers being extremely short handed.

The main reason why I said that was because if the team already doesn't have any playoff experience on it except for a couple of old veterans, it will be very difficult for them to advance especially when they don't have two of their key players. Yes their home record is good, but as Indy said, the Pacers have a pretty good road record at 19-20 and they have playoff experience which is what really counts in the playoffs. Now if they played Washington, it could be a completely different story because they lack playoff experience just like the Bulls, but they do have a full team and judging by what happened a couple of days ago when they faced each other, it looked like the Wizards were doing everything right and the Bulls couldn't connect on shots. I know I shouldn't say a team has no chance at all in the playoffs because that's why they play the games, but when I look at lack of playoff experience, missing two key players and possibly playing the Pacers who have been in the playoffs many times and will have their star player O'neal ready to play, it's just hard to say that the Bulls can upset or not.
Mon Apr 18, 2005 2:40 am
But the Playoff experience can go in favor of the Bulls. They're a young team with no pressure. Nobody expected them to be where they are. They don't have All-stars, like Washington has. They don't have PO's experience, like Indiana has. The pressure will be on the "better and experienced" teams, to beat the young one.
Mon Apr 18, 2005 6:42 am
Yep im routing for the Bulls to make it passed the 2nd round, the rest of the EAst team are crappy compared to the West (wassup with that? lol), and Bulls won't have any trouble in the playoff up until they face either the heat or pistions.
mark my word!
Mon Apr 18, 2005 6:43 am
Well it was the same thing with the Grizzlies last season, remember? The Grizzlies were a very young team heading into the playoffs and they had no pressure on them because it was their first time making it. Memphis didn't have any All-Stars, and the Spurs had more pressure on winning the championship than the GRizzlies did, but Memphis ended up getting swept.

nafia: the bulls won't be playing a team like the spurs and unlike the spurs, the wiz do not play defense. and the bulls have a player to rely on in the clutch, gordon, unlike memphis, who didn't have that last year
nocioni was serving his suspension and tyson had a brain cramp so washington did a good job beating the bulls reserve's reserves this past week
lindiana lost today, so the wiz matchup is becoming more likely. should be a great one

That's true. But it's not as though the Bulls aren't shorthanded, and even if they weren't one wouldn't expect them to have a better record than Indiana. But as it stands I think Chicago has a much better chance at beating the Wizards, who aren't playoff seasoned either; I don't want them to get Reggie Miller in the first round.
And as Nick said, it seems that will be the case; Bulls/Wizards in round one.
Mon Apr 18, 2005 10:52 am
if they do get to the second round, that's probably the farthest they can go.
Mon Apr 18, 2005 10:54 am
Hard to disagree there as they'll most likely run into Miami.
Mon Apr 18, 2005 11:30 am
well, they could use Nocioni to take out Wade & Shaq

The Grizzlies did have a clutch player and his name was Shane Battier. They also had MIke Miller, its just that the Grizzlies couldn't come close in either of the games except for Game 3, when Miller had to jack up a long bomb from almost halfcourt that rimmed off.
