So what do you guys think of the new A.I. in Philly? He just dropped a triple-double in one of philly's best games this season. He's a definate candidate for ROY, but I don't think he'll win it. I think he's stuck behind Howard, Okafor, and Gordon.
10 pts 10 rebs 10 assists and 4 steals. Imagine if Cleveland picked this kid instead of Luke...

yea he is a talented player . congrats on his first TD . I wouldnt be surprised if hes in the dunk contest next year . imagine , Iggy - Lebron - Jr Smith - Josh smith , what a contest that would be.
Thu Mar 24, 2005 2:15 pm
Everybody in the bench were rooting for him to get that TD. A really fun game (coming from a Sixers fan)

Congrats to Iggy.

He was really impressive against the Pistons. His triple double came almost effortlessly, I wouldn't have noticed he was even close until it was mentioned; though he did have 7 assists in the first half. On most other teams he'd probably be in a better position to contend for ROY, as it is he's making a nice contribution alongside the veteran AI.

any white boy with a decent shot and a high verticle gets vastly overrated
already blessed with freakish athleticism, nba body, and long arms, iguodala has the skills set to become a good offensive player. i think this guy can be an artest type of player
i think he'll make nba all rookie 1st team
Thu Mar 24, 2005 8:21 pm
this kid can fly he makes it look so effortlessly.. this guy is right up there w/ VC when it comes to finesse
Thu Mar 24, 2005 11:04 pm
He is a great player... great future ahead!
Fri Mar 25, 2005 1:32 am
It was a nice game, but DET was just awful...
They missed a LOT of easy, close-to-the-basket shots and their defense was strangely lazy.
Fri Mar 25, 2005 1:41 am
don't write off Luke Jackson yet

Cavs probably felt they didn't need a triple double threat like Iggy when they already had LBJ....therefore, I still don't think the Jackson pick was that bad....and besides, Luke Jackson was drafted at #10, and Iggy was drafted at #9, therefore making this argument null and void....
Fri Mar 25, 2005 4:35 am
I think Spike Lee and I would agree that Iggy got a triple dime
I wouldn't have expected 10 assists from Iggy, but that was impressive coming from a rookie. He makes Yinka Dare look so bad. Anyway, I was reading the recap, and Chris Webber is so quiet. He kinda disappeared when he came to Philly and everywhere I read, it's all Iverson.

Detroit's been playing horribly without Rip Hamilton.

Different positions, but just imagine what Toronto could do with #8 ... and they got Araujo
Fri Mar 25, 2005 8:59 am
except toronto had to pick araujo.. they only have 2 decent big men in their squad (bosh and marshall) while they were at a log jam at the 2 and 3 spots.. araujo ain't bad at all, underrated passer and he knows his role on the team. had they drafted iguodala he would've been battling w/ a couple other guys on the squad for minutes
Fri Mar 25, 2005 9:04 am
I only saw a little of the game but when I saw Iggy just like soar over everyone and throw it down I was amazed. I've seen him do some high-flying dunks but that game was something special. I definitely think he'd be worthy of the dunk contest, I want to see him win that (I'm a Sixer fan).

You don't select in the draft considering only positional needs, but actual talent. Everybody knew at draft day that Iggy was far more talented that the Brazilian. Toronto took a chance, and for the moment seem to have lost...

Thats because that combination hardly ever happens.

I've never seen LJ do any real stylish dunks before, but all I know is he can shoot the ball.
Different positions
Since when?

Dont bag on Luke jackson.. that kid can shoot the lgihts out!

But they needed a big man, and they thought that Araujo was a deserving pick. Like j.23 said, if the Raptors drafted AI, he would be in the bench behind Rose and Carter.

i agree with drex here.

Sometimes you must think ahead. If they had Iguodala in the roster then they could attempt to trade VC for a big man, and probably get better than Eric and Aaron Williams and a salary cap release for waiving Alonzo, for Pete's sake.
Dont bag on Luke jackson.. that kid can shoot the lights out
For now, only in practice. Not even on NBA live

What if Carter magically started playing like the old Vince Carter? Then he would be stuck on the bench behind Rose and Carter.
Its not like they knew for sure they were going to trade Carter at the time of the draft.

I think after his earlier statements about not going all-out on games, he and the team knew that his days in Canada were numbered...
Sat Mar 26, 2005 7:41 am
But those comments weren't made around the Draft day. So the Raptors didn't know how things would be in the future.
Besides, like you said, you have to think ahead. They thought "We got a nice backcourt (Carter, Rose and Alston) a promising post player (Bosh) and now we need a big man"
Sat Mar 26, 2005 7:54 am
thats true drex , but now they got their big men , what do they need this year ???

Sure they needed a big man, but ANY big man? Let's face it, no one with any semblence of a right mind projected Araujo as a Top 10 pick, he was more or less like a 15 - 20 pick. They probably knew there was a great chance that he would either prove to be a total bust or take years to develop into a nice player. Then again, he's not even at a regular senior age of 22, he's 24!!! How much more can he develop bodily and mentally?
I have nothing against Araujo and I sincerely hope he gets to have a great career in the league. The fact is, I don't see this as a likely outcome at all. Iggy Top on the other hand has huge upside, and everybody knew that on draft day...
