Manu Ginobili is going to be a star in the NBA

Manu is skilled enough to become one of the stars in the league. He is quick, great leaper, great passer, drives to the hoop, plays good defense.
He only has to improve his 3-pt shooting which is very important, specially with the towers on the team.
He has been the very best player in Europe for the last 2 years, he had a great performance in the last world championship for Argentina (by the way, it was the best team in the tournament). But he had an unfortune injury that doesn´t allow him to play at his full potential.
What do you think of him????

I think we've had this thread before. Manu needs to do something, he's barely playing and when he does he hasn't played very well. I thought he was supposed to take Steve Smith's starting spot? Stephen Jackson looks closer to doing that (if they didn't like bringing him off the bench)

He needs to get traded. The Spurs aren't using him. Stephen Jackson is playing too well and is taking Manu's minutes.

That´s because he has been playing with a sore ankle injury. Apparently, he is almost a 100% fit now, and he is coming back on Wednesday.
He should be taking Smith´s starting spot if he doesn´t have more injuries.

I don' think he will just take it. He will have to earn it. Smith is playing alright and Stephen Jackson has been having some huge nights.

Manu's gonna kill 'em

Manu has fully recovered from his ankle injury, therefore he has been playing great. He is playing with a lot of confidence, his minutes as well as his numbers are going up. He is also very spectacular.
He is going to play in the Rookie Game, watch out because here comes MANU!!!!

too bad, he won't play, Marko Jaric will substitute him.

I think u can't compare rite now as Nene is having much more chances and he's 100% fully fit. Add too that Manu is playing for a contending team and Nene...well, just check midwest standings.
Despite all taht, I don't think we'll be ever able to compare success of a PF with a SG unless the difference is too big. Say Garnett/Jose Torres, T-Mac/Wolkowyski (though hes Argentinean lost a lot of his moves when bulked up weight :p )

Yeah Gaucho, I agree with you, Nenê has had more chances, but keep in mind that Marcus Camby has been injured to like all season (as expected), so he got his opportunity and took care of it...

Manu has had to compete with Steve Smith and Stephen Jackson... Smith is having a bad year, shooting perhaps his lowest FG% ever, and Jackson, well... I thought it was Manu's job to lose, specially after his play n the WC, and he did lose it...

I did check the midwest standings... Keep in mind the Denver team is crap, Skita is a big dud, they traded Posey, Howard is overrated and only posts good stats for losing teams, etc... While Manu has played with Tim Duncan, perhaps the most dominant player after Shaq. That has helped him quite a lot... If he could take advantage of that, he would have even better stats/success...

I know it's not fair to compare a PF with a SG, but I say Nenê is playing better at this point of the season, he's younger and with more room to improve, and the Nugs will hopefully get some better players at the future, which could only lighten the load on him...

Wait for next Tuesday... If you have ESPN on your home, watch the Spurs/Nuggets game... Let's see...

thing is Manu has his ankle injured since the WC and never healed, got it even worse rite b4 the all-star weekend and u can tell he doesnt have much confidence as usual when going to the hoop, and it also affects his shooting (he didnt look comfortable at all in the whole season from all games I saw of him)
In fact most minutes he's getting is thnx to that he's busting his butt in D.

About having Duncan dont think it makes it easy for him, he used to be the go-to guy, he's still struggling to find a place in offense, sumtimes u can see him just getting in a corner to let Duncan in isolation, or break to the hoop (ability which it's limited by his ankle injure)
so far Nene has had more success of course, but if u took both guys 100% and same chances I'm pretty sure Manu would get the better performances.

Yeah, and next friday we got Magic vs. 76ers, good game, I haven't watched Iverson this year yet...

I know Manu's injured... But doesn't it say something about him being a bit one-dimensional at O? If he has a bad ankle, and if he was a good shooter, he still would find ways to score... not just by penetrating... Marbury is playing on bad ankles this year too...

I think having Duncan as the 1st option on O helps him... It can take some load off him, allowing him to penetrate/shoot from deep... But if he can't shoot well enough, then he's not gonna stay on the floor...

About Nenê, I've said it before... In the brazilian national tournament, he averaged like 8 points, 8 boards, and 2 blocks... So he already surpassed/equalled those numbers... His passing and stealing are really amazing me... I thought he was a McDyess-like passer, ie, horrible...

well, if u saw him play b4 NBA u'd know he's a streaky guy, sumtimes he was like A.I. in Philly, would take lots shots created by himself in consecutive possesions often, and about his shooting, his shoot's pretty good, same as FT where he's having very ugly stats so far.
If u tell me that maybe he ain't hittin 3's coz NBA further lane, I'd have to admit u have a point though he used to hit lots of bombs in Euroleague, but checking FT u can tell there's a prob and he aint playing to his potential. Besides I'm following every Spurs game I can (besides Warriors of course ) and he usually takes lotta shots in the last seconds of possesion, like they didn't get a chance to shot so he has to take care of the hot potato.
Also, when I played bball (last timelike 2 years now ) if I had a seriously damaged ankle it affected my shot pretty much, as the jump is/was integral part of my shot, and I guess its at least of some importance to 99% of bball players in the world...except Manute and Muresan maybe

Sorry to interrupt this patriotic meeting, but I'm really impressed with Nene. Damn Knicks managing, can't do anything right. Regarding Manu, he plays average but I believe he's too weak, that's a bad start for his career in the NBA. I don't know, maybe he needs to get some milk bfore the game starts, that would work.

I'm really happy for both of them tho, even the injuries are affecting manu, I believe if he gets a good chance to show his abilities, he will become a good player.

Well, If you check the other thread I gave GS as favorite over the Knicks cause they need to win to get in the playoffs. However, I still believe that Manu needs some milk bfore he ends in a wheelchair.

Is not that Manu is weak, maybe is his mind. Do you know if he injured his brain?, sometimes people say most of the injuries is in the brain, that could be Manu case.

Talking about Present Better Record: The Best record team doesn't win championships.

Talking about Past: 3 champs vs 2 champs. At least the Knicks have been in the finals during the past 10 years, something your warriors have been afraid of showing up.

The Warriors should get Manu, that way he can drink some milk in the bench and steal Jiri welsch playtime. I bet Manu should share that milk with Dunleavy, I guess he needs that too. lol.

I was not defending anyone, I mentioned the Knicks should've kept Nene to see if he could play instead of trade him for McDyess who was coming from a chronic injury.

Well, that happens to anyone who lives in the U.S. Let's say your team is G.S. and you live here in some other state, eg. Houston. You will not get any G.S. games unless Houston is facing G.S., that's the way here in the U.S. I don't get to watch any Lakers games unless is on ESPN or they go against the Knicks.

So you have to watch the local games, and you learn to support them. How can you live in Houston and not support the local team?. You just said the Argentina team, doesn't you support them for being your local team? See, it's not difficult to understand, it's just that you live in some other place where maybe they show Games in General, I don't get to see any other game than the Knicks every time they play or ESPN/TNT games if they are showing some.

Well, all started back in 1987 when I started watching basketball. The players that I would hear everyone was talking about was Magic, Jabbar, Bird, and of course MJ. Happens that I really liked the way Magic & the Lakers played plus they would be apparently unbeatable, didn't have much to worry about since everyone was obcessed with the champs, so that's just how I started being a Laker fan, of course my fav. player is Magic as well. Anyway, every year has been a difficult route, but I've never stopped being a laker. I still remember in 92 & 93, the Lakers didn't even register anyone with a scoring average over 15 pts. and I just could accept every other team was having it their way against them. Now, I've been compensated with 3 peat championships and hopefully another one.

Oh well, it's always nice to remember all you had to go thru to taste an accomplishment made like those last mentioned.

One thing r pro teams and other nationals, had no sense what u said about it, but I understand why r u supporting Knicks. so I guess(hope) when Knicks/Lakers play u support Lakers?
