Phoenix Suns (5-2) @ Los Angeles Lakers (5-2)

Game Preview

Lakers will try to extend their winning streak to 3 as they battle the Phoenix Suns after winning their home game against the Warriors less than 24 hours ago. Bryant tallied his 1st triple double of the season with his 33 point, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. The Lakers also got big numbers from Caron Butler and Lamar Odom. Brian Grant will still be unavailable for this game but already practice with the team He will be available for next game against Dallas Mavericks

Phoenix Suns are also trying to extend their 3 game winning streaks and have identical record with the Lakers, both tied for second place in Pacific division. All Suns starter average double figures led by Amare Stoudemire. Amare and Marion also average more than 10 boards a game.

Lamar Odom will have a tough task going up against either Shawn Marion or Amare Stoudemire. Chris Mihm will need to help his frontcourt body to neutralize this explosive Suns duo. Expect some shootout from this game as both teams love shooting from downtown.

Game Recap

Image
Russel Santos finished the game with a
career-high 16 points and make up for the
loss of Odom in the 2nd half.

The game as expected was a shootout right from the start. Both teams were shooting well from the floor and played almost no defense. But when 3 of Suns starters goes to the sideline due to foul trouble, Lakers took advantage of this and made a good run to end the quarter. Lakers held an 11 point lead, 34-23. Suns started the 2nd quarter with a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to 5 points. But Lakers, led by Bryant, extended their lead back to double digit with a 10-3 run. Every thing was going right for the Lakers and was heading to the dugout with comfortable lead. But with just 56 seconds left, Odom got injured as he goes to the basket. Odom goes directly to the locker room to evaluate his injury. The 1st half ended with Lakers still leading, 57-46.

Odom never came back to the game and Lakers need to finish the game without their 2nd scoring option and #1 rebounder. Suns almost tied the game in this quarter when Richardson and Johnson led a huge run for the Suns. They cut the deficit to just 4 points. But Lakers got a surprise contribution from rookie Santos. Scoreless in the 1st half, Santos scored 10 points, including 6 straight points to helped Lakers in once again extending their lead to double digits. After the 3rd Lakers led was only 8 points, 81-73.
Bryant then took over in the final canto scoring 14 points and completely pull away from the game. Santos finished with career-high 16 pints while Mihm make up for Odom loss and grabbed 13 rebounds. Richardson led the Suns with 24 points but got a sub-par performance form Marion and Stoudemire.

Screenshots from the Game

Lamar odm got injured in the 2nd quarter and never came back in the game.
Caoch Phil took off his glass and scratch his head when he saw Odom unable to stand after a bad fall.
Amare Stoudemire was a non-factor in this game.

on the one hand it sucks that odom had to left the game, since he's ur star #2 but on the other hand, Santos had to step up to come big off the bench.
Nice game !!! :)

btw. is Kobe the league's Topscorer ?

Dallas Mavericks (6-3) @ Los Angeles Lakers (6-2)

Game Preview

Lakers are riding on a season-high 3 game winning streak and will try to extend it as they face the Dallas Mavericks. Bryant again led Lakers to a victory but also got a breakout game from rookie Santos. Lakers will welcome back Brian Grant who sit out the last 5 games due to injury. Lamar Odom, on the other hand will be a questionable in this game after suffering a leg injury against the Suns.

Dallas Mavericks, on the other hand, are on a great start this season and hold the top spot in their division with 6-3 mark. Nowitzki and Finley are still the 1-2 punch for the Mavericks. They are on a 2 game winning streak.

Without Lamar Odom, Lakers need another good showing form rookie Santos but the addition of Brian Grant will be a big help for the Lakers frontcourt. They will up against Dirk Nowitzki and rookie Fran Vazquez. Bryant and Finley will also be a match-up to watch.

Game Recap

Image
Chris Mihm steped up for Odom's absensce,
scoring season-high 26 points in 13 of 16

Lamar Odom came ready to play but Coach Phil decided not to play him, letting him rest his leg and avoid making his injury worst. Lakers didn’t expect Odom not playing and they look lost early in the game. Mavs made a 10-0 run and led 12-3 while Lakers missed 6 consecutive shots in this stretch. But after Stackhouse called for his 2nd foul, Lakers ended the quarter with a 10-2 run to make it just 5-point game, 28-23. In the 2nd quarter, Mihm was unstoppable down low, dominating both Nowitzki and Vazquez. He score 14 points in this quarter and helped Lakers grabbed the lead in this quarter. Stackhouse was held scoreless in this quarter and Nowitzki still struggles, scoring just 2 points in this half, Lakers now led, 51-44.

After Mihm superb game in the 1st half, it was Bryant show in the 3rd period. Bryan scored 10 points including the reverse dunk against Nailon and an MJ-like dunk at the break which the homecourt fans giving Bryant a big applause and standing ovation. They extended their lead to 17 points and look good going to the 4th quarter. In the final canto, Lakers just cruised along. They protected their lead and never let the Mavs made a run. In the end, Lakers win this game, 102-90 and extended their streak to 4 games. Chris Mihm just missed 3 shot (13-16) and finished with game-high 26 points. Bryant added 20 points. jawa31 vs. HonorGlow

ImageImage
jawa31 (left) diplays some of his flying dunks in this game. HonorGlow (right) first
basket was also a dunk

Nov 19 Sat -- Josh Arbuthnot is another player describe by basket ball expert that possess great basketball skill. He can kill young going to the basket, he can burn you with his perimeter shooting and will amaze you with his athletic ability. He all displays it in his 1-on-1 game against Honor Glow.

Glow, on the other hand, is a deadly shooter who can make consecutive shots any given night. Though in this match-up, he was unable to show case that playing against a taller Arbuthnot. With limited scoring option, honor only able to make 2 baskets and both were driving to the basket. All his outside shots were contested and never found the bottom of the cylinder.

Both players started slow and traded missed shots early in the game. Arbuthnot drew first blood with a one-handed dunk. He scored another basket before Glow made his 1st basket, also a dunk. But he never scored again with Arbuthnot playing good defense. Arbuthnot then scored the next 5 basket to lead, 7-1. Glow scored another basket but that was his last. Arbuthnot then finished the game with 4-0 run, including a 2 pointer for an 11-2 win.

Arbuthnot will now advance to the 2nd round and will face the winner of Yan-Cava match-up.

Screenshots from the Game

Arbuthnot, showing his range, goes and made a 2-pointer.
Glow second and last basket of the game.

Los Angeles Lakers (7-2) @ Portland Trailblazers (3-6)

Game Preview

Lakers will try to avenge their lost when they battle the Portland Trailblazers. In their first meeting of the season, Blazers gave the Lakers their first lost and snapped a 2 game winning streak. But after the lost, Lakers won 5 of their next 6 games. In those wins, Bryant and Odom got their act together and also got some helped fro different Lakers players. They will try to extend their streak to 5 games. Lamar Odom will play this game after sitting the game against Mavericks

Portland Trailblazers, on the other hand, are on a losing skid, losing their last 3 games. Zach Randolph still led his team in scoring. All starters average 10 points or more but only got little help from the bench esp. Nick Van Exel.

In their last meeting, Randolph was the biggest problem for the Lakers. Also Miles gave them some trouble in the 2nd half. Grant and Odom will need to check this Blazers duo in order to avenge their loss.

Game Recap

Image
Another great game for Zach Randolph
scoring 16 points and 8 rebounds against
the Lakers.

Lakers started the game with 1 thing on their mind, to take revenge. And early in the game, they displayed aggressiveness and the will to take this game. They quickly built a 10 point led behind Bryant and Alston. Lakers also got a huge lift from Darko Milicic who scored 6 points in this quarter. But Miles put back the Blazers I the game, scoring 6 straight points. After the 1st period, Lakers held a 28-23 lead. In the next quarter, Blazers made a 6-0 run to take a 1-point lead. Bryant made a basket to get back the lead but after that it was all Blazers. Van Exel and Telfair teamed up and score 7 points each to put the Blazers on top by 9 pints. Lakers somehow cut the deficit, making a late quarter run. After leading the 1st quarter, Lakers now trailed by 4, 45-41.

Lakers continued to trail in the 2nd half. Blazers extended their lead to 13 points. Zach Randolph scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in this quarter. Then Bryant tried to bring the Lakers back but with his teammates, esp. Odom playing injured, struggles. After the 3rd period, Blazers led by 6 points, 72-66. Bryant, Alston and Butler teamed up in the final period and try bringing back the Lakers. But once again, Blazers always found an answer in every Lakers run, they protected their lead. Still trialing by 6 points, 88-82 with 2 minute left, Lakers were able to cut the deficit to only 2 points, 90-88 but only got 51 seconds left to turn things around. Blazers scored on the next possession while Lakers never scored again. Blazers win it, 95-88 .Abdur-rahim had a huge 4th quarter, scoring 10 points to help the Blazers preserved their lead. Bryant led the Lakers with 25 points but Odom and Butler struggle the entire game. Blazers already won the season series against Lakers with 1 more game to play. They will meet again on March 25, 2006.
