@ Bobcats, 117-116
Kobe had 32 points, 21 in the 4th quarter. He made some 5-odd shots in a row in the end, a mix of 3 pointers and inside shots. Okafor had 30 points, Brevin Knight 21 pts 17 assists. Keep in mind there was NO OVERTIME!!! It was a great game, but also a bad game, because nobody played defense!

Kobe also made the game winning shot with 0.9 seconds left. All season I've seen Kobe make some big shots, but then miss even bigger ones (and I still remember when he boucned the ball off his heel and got backcourt violation

) but this is undoubtedly his best clutch game this season. Without a doubt it will be in the nestle crunch part of nba.com/video..

This was his only crucnh time performance this season i believe... it was unbeliveable.. i didnt see it but i follwoed it on game update.
When Kobe missed two threes with a minute left or so.. i thought we had lost... Jumaine got a tip in, Kobe hit a jumper and then hit the winner... i was jumping up and down!

I think Kobe is getting back in form, he's actually been terrible in clutch this season, shooting horrible percenrages, though taking a lot of shots down the stretch, getting to the line less, and being more turnover prone, he's been a bottom of the list clutch player this year, but this was definately a very good game for him all round.
It might have been vs the Bobcats, and definately too close for comfort, but Kobe took over in the 4th, and really did his thing. He was also somewhat clutch against the Mavs on both ends of the floor, so he's been doing very well lately.
The Lakers have been using the triangle, and it's been helping him, 2 other significant things in the game, Atkins - 6 assists, Odom - 8 assists though only 9 points.
Another nice stat line, Brevin Knight - 21 points 17 assists, and a ticker said he was questionable for the game too

Strange, why didn't Kareem Rush play? I wanted to see Kobe dunk on him.
Sun Mar 13, 2005 1:03 pm
I don't think he's been playing lately...I don't even think he's on the active roster..
Sun Mar 13, 2005 1:11 pm
he is injuried i think
Sun Mar 13, 2005 1:13 pm
Rushy did something to his leg.. hes otu for a while which sux cause I've been foloowing him in Chalotte... until he went onto the IR... hes been on it 2 or 3 times this season.
Kobe did promise that hed try his best to make the playoffs... we're seeing his best soon!
Sun Mar 13, 2005 1:14 pm
Kobe last 5 games [not including today]:
36.0 points | 6.6 rebounds | 3.4 assists | 1.0 steals | 1.2 blocks | 3.0 turnovers | 50.9% FG | 13.3% 3PT | 11.6-12.6 FT attempts
He's been scoring like a man possesed, the only bad shooting game he had was vs Boston.
Sun Mar 13, 2005 1:28 pm
Kobe's heating up... do we get to see more from him or will he be consistent with how hes going now?
BTW... Denver is playing Spurs.. hope they lose! lol
35.4 ppg | 6.2 rpg | 4.4 apg | 0.8 spg | 1 bpg | 2.8 tpg | 50.8 FG% | 28.6 3PT% | 91 FT%
Through last 6 games... there ya go!
Sun Mar 13, 2005 1:55 pm
the key in my opinion, is that he has started to cut down the amount of three pointers he attempts in a game. In the previous couple of games since he came back, has only jacked up 1 or 2 3's. Which is good.
Now all we need is to somehow convince atkins to curb's 3pt attempts.
Sun Mar 13, 2005 2:07 pm
So does Atkins feel like hes the s*it now???
Sun Mar 13, 2005 2:07 pm
Kobe scoring so much for his team.. has benefit the team in short run...
but in the long run..
the team will falll apart..
cuz lack of opportunities for the teammates to take the shots..
hence.. its like.. it used to be.. the reserve players get worse..
Sun Mar 13, 2005 2:15 pm
no... i dont think so. The reserve players want him to shoot. its not him taking their shots. Remember when Walton gave Kobe the pass and lost the game? Its not Kobe but its the bench's mentality. Sure- Kobe takes over and stuff like that but if the bench keeps in their mind... let Kobster fdo all the work. How will they take shots when they get them???
Sun Mar 13, 2005 3:43 pm
that's the problem with.. Lakers.. relied too much on Kobe.
reserve players should take more shots.. in the regular games..
to build their confidence..
like.. among the 3 titles they had...
Fisher and Horry.. took alot of shots...
Rick Fox... as well as george..
but last season..
they were unable to do that..
probably it had something to do with them during regular games..
Sun Mar 13, 2005 4:49 pm
Its how the team is i guess... I dont know how they gonna fix it... but it also relies on Kobew first. He needs to trust his teammates.. when he does, his teammate will trust themselves and shoto more. But when u said the reserves get worse... i dont think thats the case lol
Sun Mar 13, 2005 5:13 pm
george.. rick fox... kareem rush.... etc...
but not this new group of reserves tho..
Sun Mar 13, 2005 7:03 pm
george fell off the face of the planet.
fox was never good.
Rush showed some hints of being able to hit open shots...
Odom's problem is he isn't aggressive when he gets the ball.
Kobe passes to his teammates, but its the teammates who then just pass the ball back.
Sun Mar 13, 2005 7:43 pm
There was an intersting stat during the Lakers-Clippers game that mentioned Odom made 6-30 of his last 3 point attempts or something like that, it was interesting because most of the time I see Odom shoot a 3 it's a brick...

How come no one mentions the fact the Bobcats actually almost won this game? They have 12 god damn wins & 48 losses, LA isn't on the right track for shit? Only Bryant is.
I mean come on? Bobcats almost beat them?
Oh wait, a win is a win, right?

Kobe's points are up by a lot, but his assists are practically cut in half. But it's probably doing better for the team since he's actually shooting 50% from the field.
Denver did beat the Spurs

Yeah, they said in the pregame show that many teams think they can just waltz in there and get an automatic win, but the Bobcats don't give up and they hustle, and couple that with Lakers bad defense and anything is possible..

I was telling the X about how the Lakers are playing crap...
Mon Mar 14, 2005 2:01 pm
the lakers will not make the playoffs.

kobe will have the last word on that. If he get them there I'd say he is the 3rd best player in the league. If they get there and advance to the 2nd round, I'd say he is the best player in the league
Tue Mar 15, 2005 11:22 am
Alot of players in the League are already saying he is the best...
If he gets LA into the playoffs.. he will write another great chapte rin, "How the Lakers Turn" and it will truly be a sentimental achievement for him.. as for not makiing it... no comment! lol (If he cant take them there... he will get bagged more by haters!)
