Journal:

The 2 man trade to the Bobcats came fruitful for the team. E. House proved to be a tough defending PG and currently leads the league in steals. After the trade, he automatically proved his worth in demonstrating a memorable 18 steals game against the Spurs. He made it to the Hall-of-fame that night.

Emeka turned out great in our play-off run, He is a monster down-low with offensive rebounds. He bangs and pounds the post with his strong and quick moves. With his effort, we made it 8th seed in the West.

It was a tough 14 straight wins to get to the play-offs. A great factor was the 7'3 Center, Z. Ilgauskas. It took some time for him to adapt, but his height was the boost that we needed. We we're a short team when we had Shariff. We wanted him to stay but we needed speed or size. He often complains and wanted more stats. Fair is fair. We asked for Z and the Cavs accepted.

The biggest surprise in this team was Travis Outlaw. He was a reserve that never played during our first 1/2 slump. Travis is a great back-up 4. He can’t post up, but he can drive past most PF or C. A quick move then a dunk often results to him shooting from the line. He got the 7 after being invited to the Slam-dunk competition. Yes, he was invited to the all-star Weekend. Then, Coach Cheeks made ends meet. He started filling for Emeka, and i can tell you that he can do quality minutes. He would score more than his minutes on the court. His Defensive skill is no longer in question. He even blocked Dirk on a Jump shot. Travis is the spirit of our bench.

Chris Crawford, well, he is our 3 from the bench. He developed as a good catch and shoot player. Can Do 4 if needed, Rueben was great and all, but we needed 3's. He might not get more minutes cause of victor. But if the need arises, He is there for you.

D. Wagner, together with Nick, is our running guard. If we need to run, these 2 are called for. Sebastian was a good kid but we needed more range.

The only thing that plagues the team is Injuries. Miles and Okafor dropped their performance due to serious injuries. Darius is currently at 55 and Emeka is in 67. But at least Derek stepped-up to 71 and victor came to 58.

I thought we would never make it to the play-offs. We lost the game we badly needed to the Lakers. Luckily, the Suns lost 2 of their last games. It was a great relief.

Play-offs. Skills or Luck? 1st round: Game 1 - 3.

We face the Denver nuggets in the first round. We won the first game taking the home court advantage. With outstanding effort, our team showed a lot of confidence. The game was won in the last 2 minutes.

Sixty seconds, Anderson made a fantastic lay-up to even out the score. Anthony, defended by Travis missed a jump shot. It was a good one for Derek, finishing with 24 points to end the game. Emeka took the stand with 18 points and 16 rebounds and 3 assists.

The series started to become physical. The game proved to be a costly game as Darius will sit the next 2 weeks.

Short handed, we were having problems. We are missing darius. The game was taken by Denver in the late stages. Their run was sparked by consecutive 3's from melo. Disappointing lost for us. In consolation, Didn't we tell you this was becoming physical? It did. Nene was forced to IR.

Home alas! Game 3 and we have court advantage. We activated Frahm and moved Pryzbilla. This Team showed strength. But in the end, we were overwhelmed by their Defense on the post. Zach got 2nd to nothing. The closest we got was a tie in the last 3 minutes of the game. But again, the nuggets edged us out.

This was an important game for us. Denver took back their advantage along with our hopes of advancing to the next round. The team is weary. They are thinking that we missed our chance to advance. We must show that we can play Better, Harder, and Tougher.

For game 4, we are planning to start Anderson on the 1 spot. Hopefully, We may snatch game 4 through Height.

Just an FYI, the Dynasty is on Superstar.

2005 - 2006 thoughts.

I will be releasing Nick the next year. As much as i want him on the team, we needed the cap space. In consideration, If he will agree to sign under 6M for the next few years. We might reconsider. We need his presence.

The team has already scouted some rookies. One name came about. It was Kojo Chan. he can run the floor at 6'5. He will be a welcome back up for House if Nick would not agree to our terms.

I’m already decided. We will re-sign our Z Towers (Ilgauskas and Randolph) for multiple-year contract. They were a valuable lot. The team is already projecting around 53M for 7 years each, just about 7.5 per year.

It was almost a win. 3-1

The team is set. We haven’t recovered from the previous lost. We are ready to play this time. We started good. Jump shots were going in. We lead all the way from the 1st quarter. Then the bad thing happened. After 5 minutes in the 4th, the nuggets started to close in. We managed to hold them off to a point in the last minute. Melo made a jumper swinging the lead. We have the last shot. Nick brought it down. Anderson had it, shot, before the buzzer. It didn’t go in.

We lost by a point, just a point. They now have a 3-1 lead. What makes matter worse is the fact that we could have won the game.

We are going to Denver for game 5. We have feelings of defeat. No matter what happened. We didn’t expect to make it to the play-offs, but we did! We have to sweep the remaining games. It will be hard.

On the Horizon. 3-2

We need to prove something. We need to tell the world that reaching the play-offs is not just luck. We were an under .5 team till the last month of the season. We suffered loses all season long. And we made it with a 42 - 39 season ender stat.

The physical play continued. Another injury came to past. After scoring his first 4 points, he tried dunking over Martin. His right arm was injured. Even through injury, he wanted to play. Tried a slower pace and sitting more often, he still managed to sink 10 pts, gather 13 rebounds, and Dish 2 assists. Soft as he is, Okafor endures. He will not miss games.

Anderson was leading the Pack. He wanted to win. Showing that elimination can’t be, he attacked Barry. He scored on him at will. He was named player of the game with 28 pts, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists.

House defended Miller well. He managed 5 steals against his assignment.

Looking forward, Minnesota is on the horizon. They have swept San Antonio and are already waiting for their next victim.

A newfound spirit: Round 1. 3-3

Because we won game 5, The Team was given new gears. Z was given a pair of glasses. Zach was provided with a multi headband. Victor got a new shoe. Anderson needed new elbow pads. Our runners, Wagner, Nick, and Eddie were assigned new trainers (shoes).

Travis and Richie were allowed to ink their skin (the artist was provided by the team). “Best of the west” What they called it. Me, I got a new wristband.

As for Emeka and Darius, The doctor said that their supports will be removed as soon as they’re healed.

The whole team was given a new look. And in appreciation, we decimated the nuggets for them. Forcing game 7.

Tomorrow, we are packing. We will win at Denver!!

Nash Talks Randolph Donation
John Nash Discusses Zach Randolph's Jersey Donation

Many of you may not be aware that Zach Randolph recently made a $47,000 donation to purchase jerseys for a youth basketball league.

I wanted to take a moment to share the information with you because our organization is very proud of Zach for his efforts. Zach made the donation on his own and then visited the local youth center to host a basketball clinic for the members.

Zach visited the kids from the Portland Parks and Recreation's 2005 basketball league on Tuesday at the Matt Dishman Recreational Center. The kids surprised him by having an appreciation event for Zach's donation to purchase new jerseys for all participants in the basketball league.

While there, Zach hosted a basketball clinic for the 40 kids offering advice for playing the game, working out, staying in shape and understanding the strategy of the game. Zach also talked about how important basketball was to him as a kid and how it often kept him out of trouble and off the streets.

The series is decided. We are advancing to the next round.

The game was told in the first 6 mins. There was no stopping him. The win was On The House. Eddie scored 9pts and snatched a ball. Zyd answered on the other end with 4 blocks. They could't keep up. We out-lasted them on both ends.

The team didn't want to lose. They were just so tired of being defeated.

Anthony, Jon Barry, and Andre Miller were keeping Denver alive. They fought back and Keeping their team in strike-distance.

Z worked hard. He was our lighthouse. He managed his way against the physicality of this series. He held Camby and Martin's waves. Then, it happened. With 3:45 left on the 3rd, He left the court favoring his right arm. He gave in. The 3rd casualty of this series. Luckily, he will only be out for this game. With that news, our hopes against the Wolves are not lost.

The Nuggets tried a comeback. They have reduce the lead to a sigle digit. Another "House rule", he lobbed a pass to Travis. It was A beautiful 1 handed alley-oop over Kenyon and Pope with 5:14 left in the game. It petrified the enemy.

Our rookie of the year, Emeka, didn't have to play through his injury. Travis took over his position with 26 points, 18 rebounds, and 4 assists. Zach played Center with 14 points, 16 rebounds, and 4 assists.

The injury of Emeka Okafor is more serious than we thought. His recovery could take up to 6 days (Sore Elbow)

Round 2: Valley of the Wolves.

The game turned out to be in our favor. It started with latrell shooting a 3. They scored the first 5 points. Anderson was also a competitor. He exchanged shots with him. They kept going at each other exchanging baskets. As if it was only them in the court. Olowokandi showed us that we couldn’t own the paint. He pushed our team and kept us outside.

The 1st quarter was almost theirs when Z sunk a fade-away to even out the score.

Kevin was having a rough night. He had to face Zyd's defense. He started the second quarter with 6 points and had to sit the rest because of 3 fouls with 7:44 left in the half.

Key players at the half:

D. Anderson 11 pts. 4 rebounds. 2 assist.
S. Cassel 16 points, 5 assists, 1 steal.

On the 3rd quarter, with our lead in mind, Troy Hudson started heating up. He shot consecutive 3's with 3 minutes left. Luckily, Eddie and Derek was there. It was back-to-back rainbows that finished the 3rd.

Latrell and Sam were closing in. They reduced the lead to 4 with a min left in the game. Derek answered with a jump shot to seal the win.

We took their home court advantage hoping that it will not be like Denver's.

The millenium ushered in new opportunities for Westray including an evolved relationship with Sam Cassell, a native of Baltimore, MD, who started his NBA career with the Houston Rockets by winning back-to-back World Championships in 1993-1994 and 1994-1995. Cassell, who resides in Houston, TX during the off-season, introduced Kenny to many of his NBA colleagues including Nick Van Exel, who Sam competed against during his junior college days at San Jacinto. Cassell eventually convinced Van Exel to make Houston his home and the friendship between the three continued to grow. As a result, Van Exel, who began wearing We R One apparel in 1993, became very interested in the popular DC-based clothing company, eventually turning a friendship into a prosperous business arrangement.

Game 3: Head to Head.

Darius has just recovered from his injury, he started playing and was used sparingly to prevent prolonged injuries.

The first quarter was Derek's he scored his first 15 points, 4 rebounds, and assist. He was unstoppable in the sense that he points to the spot where he was going to shoot next. Spree, trying to stop him, did an admirable come-back. They were at our necks every single breath of the way. This campaign is turning out to be their's. From game 1, they were at each other's .

Chris expressing why he was chosen over patterson, showed that he is an offensive weapon to start with. He scored almost to none in the first half but dished the ball to complete important plays. He started scoring at the second half and dished some more. He is a verstile player. He was the reason why we took the game. We left the pack at the 4th quarter.

KG didn't waiver. Minnesota is still his. He defended us. He scored when no one does. We just got lucky this time. With the fire in his eyes, he is determined to take this series. He wanted to say that he is still the alpha and we will fall eventually.

The Portland Trail Blazers and Hands On Portland once again partnered to present the fourth annual Heart of the Community Awards honoring exemplary volunteers who have made meaningful community improvements. At a lunchtime ceremony in the Memorial Coliseum’s Georgia Pacific Room, awards were presented promoting volunteerism in the community and called attention to local individuals and organizations that model outstanding volunteer leadership.

Local individuals and businesses that were honored for outstanding volunteer leadership are:

In addition to the traditional awards, a special presentation was made to former Mayor Vera Katz for her leadership and support of volunteerism.

The event was attended by members of Hands on Portland as well as presenters Trail Blazers President Steve Patterson, Trail Blazers director of player programs Darnell Valentine, Oregon State Senator Margaret Carter, and Oregon State Senator and Multnomah Country Commissioner Serena Cruz.

All proceeds from the event benefit Hands on Portland, a nonprofit group dedicated to matching volunteers of all ages with nonprofit organizations throughout the Portland area. In addition to awarding volunteerism, the Trail Blazers and Hands On Portland are encouraging individuals to take the 2005 Trail Blazers Community Builders Heart of the Community Challenge.

The girlfriend

My girlfriend just took off with my ps2. I was planning on doing game 5 and when i woke-up my ps2 was gone. It was a "while you were sleeping" job. a good steal from her.

I can't blame her, she is everything to me. And with that, i showed heart. She didn't. she took my damn PS2. it hurts. No heart at all. aheheheheheheheheheheheh. hopefully, i can start a game within the week.

Game 4: The real Trail Blazers.

As we started the game, KG, Being the alpha, wanted to take back their home court advantage. The team could't really find and answer for his team. We tried to stop him but wally was hot. Corked wally but spree started firing. We ended the first quarter trailing by 9.

The next quarter, it was Sam's. No stopping he makes everything. It was one of those games. We can't stop the other team. We tried holding on and luckily, we managed to set the lead within 15.

After the half, we the lead blew to 12. We tried but we can't.

The team, after answering to the 2nd half. have managed to close in. We were fighting back. Alas! We have found the strength with eddie winning the steals category. we ended the 3rd with a tie.

Our game got better. We started sinking consecutive baskets. The story was in the last 2 minutes after sinking an Emeka sinking an alley-oop from his charlotte teammate. He is 100 %. he tied the game and blocked KG at the last minute giving us possession. He sank a baby hook swinging us the lead. It was a game winner.

No record was left as to "the girlfriend" also took my notebook. All thats left are memories and the temporary files in my computer.

Game 5: KG's turn

Emeka and Darius officially came-off injury for this game. That didn't stop KG from winning this game. We were in his territory. Emeka, assigned to him, was always in foul trouble. Our forwards did not stand a chance. He stole the ball, He blocked them. That was the story in the paint.

Derek did not play his best today. He was scoreless in the 1st. He started picking up on the second but ran out quick. We trailed them 14 when the first half ended. The pack just blew us away.

In the 3rd, we started Eddie but it didn't make a difference. We then decided to run the last 5 minutes of the quarter, We were able to cut the lead to 4.

The 4th was no different. When we shut-down kevin, it was sam who is making it. We could never find an answer to their attack. We fumbled. We were out-played. The closest that we got in winning this game was a tie in the last 4 minutes. That's it!!!

Zyd was dissappointed though. he was fighting back. He corked Olowokandi but its not enough.

Memphis is waiting for us. if we make past the Wolves, the Bears are waiting.
