Why do NBA players whine so much?

where i am from you always respect a players call. you might argue with him about it but you respec it, for awhile. if the same player makes 2-3 calls in a row that everyone clearly knows is a lame call then no matter what call he makes for the rest of the game he wont get it and play resumes. i hardly ever call my fouls and i only do so if its to my shooting arm or head, otherwise i let it go. people who do this always get thier calls because if you hardly call and actually make a call then people just give you the ball without to much complaint, but those people who constantly call fouls have a hard time even getting on the court as people dont even want them on thier team.

Haha, same here, when someone calls something you let them have it, but their's times when everyone knows theirs no foul, and the person keeps calling it, it just get's everyone angry, but what can you do?

football(soccer) players r actually worse......90% of them whine for every foul......then theirs the famous incident of Paulo DiCanio pushing the ref n then getting suspended for the entire season

I think its human nature to fight for what u think is right.....some players tend to be more aggresive and they get caught up in the drama of it all.......I mean its nowhere near the END OF THE WORLD refuze when they get called...... ....its just letting your opinion be heard.....even though u know it wont get changed.....it will make the ref keep a closer eye next time....n who knows maybe call it your way the next time just so he doesnt have to hear the same voice screaming at him again.

It does work though. In some places. Eventually. There is a former professional player who now coaches one team in our league. He argues every call as much as possible, and has had a couple of suspensions/ejection over his lifetime, but the refs call out games differently when we play against him. Because he's got the respect from being a player and he's such a complainer about every call that doesn't go his way, the refs seem to not call as much against him/his team. Also he talks and it's amazing how many times his team has won because the other team loses focus and argues with him rather than playing the game.

Their was a rival team I had in my league who had a player that would always go down if their team was up by 1 on closing minutes, just to waste time

how about the coaches.....we whine too. i kick the play board once into the court and threw an eraser straight to the officials table then i laugh out loud after i was toss out in the game. come to think of it i was only an assistant coach.
as a player i do argue alot of those human error calls and guess what the ref always assure me "next time" i mean what the hell does he mean about that?

Another play i blatantly fouled a dude, you could hear the slap, and no foul call....the refs hated that dude real bad cos he's the biggest tosser.

They hated the guy so they didn't want to give him foul shots, therfore didn't call the foul

you can easily manipulate refs which is why alot of players also complain. they complain to argue the manipulation of others and futher thier own manipulation. i used to slap my self on layups to try and get calls now and then. it works every so often. its cheap, dirty, what have you, but a free trip to the line is good for me so whatever.

lol im in HS and at my jv game the PARENTS ARE HILARIOUS. ok first of all my JV team is a bunch of ego-maniac white boys who think we can play bball... haha... yea we had a winning record this year for the 1st time in years. we dont hav any black guys on our entire JV team. that tells u how bad we r. (our varisty has 4 black guys, and they r all amazing)... ok anyways...

so we play woodlands which is a town of mostly black people. and their team doesnt hav 1 single white person at all. ok so its funny cause we're playin at home, this team is supposed to be the best in the league, and in the warmups we r playing 50 cent and jay-z and all that rap music... lol. let me tell u it was funny, and ironically sad...

then the game starts and somehow our pg hits like 3 3s in a row and we go up 9-2. then were like "o shit were winning." i think the other team just didnt care about us and thought we were a joke. they had this 6'8 Center who had like 15 1st half points... it was funny i had to guard him at 5'11/6'0

but yea so in the 2nd half we r up by 13 goin to the 4th quarter, we;re actually playin well. then BAM they go on a 10-2 run and their back in it. our parents start going CRRAAAAAAAAZY. this 1 parent screamed at the refs soooooo much he got kicked out lol ... and then another parent seemed to have steam popping out of his ears... literally he was going crazy.

and well yea we lost by 5... and the parents were pretty pissed let me tell u. it was funny tho

its an old trick actually. i have my players do that to our team a few times. like your off hand hitiing your shooting hand and you look like you got contact or something. another thing is the flop during the screens.where the screener felt a slight elbow(not even enough to knock out a fly) then tries to win an oscar by falling to the floor. old tricks by street players. and the refs bought it. i guess they have no clues about these tricks

parents in my league r funny too.....they have physical confrontations with refs & players, ahh man, the drama.....players go after refs and after eachother too.

another thing i used to do is, whenever a teammate would take it in the lane and i was close by i would clap my own hands trying to get them to make a call. so yeah i guess i am dirty.

clapping that's obvious to some but to the dirty player its an art.

I'm pretty quick to forgive players for whining in games.. at crunch time when calls start going against you and the game is on the line it's easy to take it personally and vent ur frustration and have a little bitch to get it off your chest and a lot harder to take it on the chin.. ultimately unless your getting tech fouls then there's probably not that much harm done
