Observations from tonights games...

Sat Jan 15, 2005 2:31 pm

 Damon Stoudamire
54 points, 20/32 shooting including 8/16 from 3. It's a career high, I think his previous was 36 or something... good to see him doing this though, I always felt a bit sorry for him considering he was once a 20ppg guy.

 Jameer Nelson
Scored 17 points off the bench, he's really exploded lately... well not exploded, but he's definitely playing alot better than he usually does. One of the few rookies I've actually seen play, hopefully he'll keep getting better.

 Josh Smith
11 points, 6 rebounds, 4 blocks, 2 steals... can anyone tell me exactly how good he is? I know he's explosive and whatever, but seriously for a guard he gets some really really good defensive stats.

 Juan Dixon
How's this for efficiency: 13 points, 5 assists, 1 steal in 5 minutes of play. Shooting 5/5 from the field and 2/2 from the FT line. How the hell do you manage to get 13 and 5 in 5 minutes?

 Quentin Richardson
:x  :? :x :?

 Donyell Marshall + Jalen Rose
Both seemingly on the trade block, combined for 38 points and 15 rebounds off the bench.

Normally I'd save this shit for MSN, but awell.

Man, Dixon is da shit! lol

And Damon scored 50... thats a hell lot for him. I always thought he wasnt round anymore! :P

Ginobili's 22 points, 5 rebs and 3 assists!! He also blocked Stackhouse and stole the ball 2 times.
What a great all-around player he is. :D

i've seen a few games of the hawks. josh smith is an atheltic freak but with an unpolished game well maybe not- he does nba skills other then dunking(was playing point guard before lue arrived!).

from what i've seen he reminds me of stacey augmon/gerald wallace so far.

Lol something about that disturbs me. Poor Josh.

He actually reminds me of Marion in terms of athletic ability, and shot blocking as a perimeter player. He has a shot actually but it's very inconsistent, I wouldn't compare him to Gerald Wallace at all.

Also Josh Smith played 28 minutes, not 5 minutes in the game. Unlike Gerald Wallace he actually knows how to shoot, so he can become a good offensive player, think Desmond Mason offensively, and DMase shot has become good now from mid-range, but Josh Smith has range so he should develop a 3PT shot too.

Josh Smith is a better blocker then both Wallace and Marion, he got 10 blocks in one game

And its only his first year, basically gets around 25 minutes a game only.

Juan Dixon's always been a big-time scorer, going back to his days at Maryland....he can put up points quick....

would like to see him play more but with Hughes and Arenas playing so well, he's just not going to get too many minutes....

Sun Jan 16, 2005 11:50 am

Dixon has 13 points in 11 minutes against Phoenix so far.

Sun Jan 16, 2005 12:32 pm

Dixon won the game for the Wizards sparking a 36-25 last quarter. Dixon finished 26 points (10-13 FG, 3-4 3P), 5 rebounds, 4 steals, 1 assist.

Arenas also got 26 points but on 6-23 shooting :o

i used the wallace comparison in terms of both players being unpolished but still able to do other things on the court because of their athleticism.

yeh smith does have good fundamentals on his shot and what seems a better 'feel' for the game for his age. haha maybe a pietrus comparison is better.

Mon Jan 17, 2005 8:19 am

Yea, he's like a more atheltic Pietrus with less one on one defensive skills, much less, and a weaker shot, but he has the weak side defense down. Atlanta has good line of young perimeter players on their roster.
