A few things

Postby Matthew on Thu Jan 06, 2005 3:12 pm

This thread is about a few random nba things..

1. I have to give credit to sbzmafia. He predicted the grizz would turn things around and now they right at .500 with a great chance of sneaking into the playoffs. I was wrong, so kudos to showbiz! (im guessing sbz is short for sbz?)

2. The rockets/ suns game today. Has there ever been a more disapointing addition to their team than tmac? he has so much talent, and he just looks lost... i think he is in the wrong system, nobody on the rockets seems to know what they're doing. It's time for JVG to change the offense, or leave.

3. Riot, you laughed when New York lost to charlotte, what happened today? Khama baby...

4. With the exception of today, shaq has been so quiet this season. Watch out for a fresh shaq to totally dominate in the playoffs

5. The Pacers look alot better with Jermaine back, but the question might be how well will they all gel together with Stephen Jackson? This team was set up for the core of players to be O'neal, Artest, and Jackson /Miller... how will it be with O'neal, Jackson AND miller?

6. This one I cant work out, it's detroit. They look lifeless at times, then Billups goes nuts and they look unstopable. Will this team be like how they were last year down the strecth, or will they be more like new jersey last season? Hobbling all year, then get into the playoffs and play alot better but not good enough? I can't pick it either way...

7. Will this be the first time (correct me if im wrong, i think it's the first time) that a nba team will have homecourt in the first round despite having a worse record than their opponent? Right now New York is 16-16, and the 3rd seed. Indiana is the 6th seed, and 16-13. If the NBA started right now, we would have this crazy scenario

Random stuff.. but in response to the seedings.. the new 3 division thing stuffs it up. cant they seed teams by records regardless of division winners??? cause it is just wacked how they do it!

If last year (or was it the year before?) is anything to go by, the team with the better record will still have the homecourt advantage but the division winner would still be seeded higher. But it's still a strange situation, a by-product of the extra divisions.

Man, Van Gundy needs to go, I'd want to, but I can't blame it on Tmac, Yao's crappy play also has a part in their bad play. I remember as a rookie, they hyped Yao's ability to pass, he made those nice passes etc, then Van Gundy came and he lost his ability to pass , and now he hardly even get's assists.

I actually like the new divisional alignments....I think you will start to see a bit more intra-divisional rivalry in fighting for that top 3 seed....and in some years (like this one), it won't look so good with a crap team having a high seed, but in most years it won't make a difference....

so I can't really fault the alignments until I see long-term trends illustrating the same problems....

about Detroit.....they should be good once the bench gets fixed. Right now it's Hunter and Dice.....Delfino is a mystery as far as health goes....PG is the real prob now

2. i caught some of that last nite. tmac just doesn't look into to it. i guess there's going to be a longer adjustment period since they just added wesley and barry. btw- i don't know where i heard this but someone compared marion's jumpshot to a tyrannosaurus rex shooting the ball
4. he's had his moments even if they've come against teams with bad defenses or bad interior players. i can't agree yet that there will be a fresh shaq come playoff time. even if they have a comfortable lead on the Eastern conference. if there's anyone who needs rest, it's wade :P
5. i think s-jax will come back with a vengance. when he's not taking those awkward perimeter shots, his slashing game should fit in well w/JO and tinsley. honestly, i think sjax is better fit offensively for indiana then artest since he doesn't get in those ruts where he has to dominate the ball to score.
6. seems like detroit is waiting for something to happen. i'm not sure pg is the real prob now, matt. rip's shooting a career low, same w/'sheed.
