havent got better link yet because game just ended

damn he is development this year, i don't have no bad words for him. only maybe he needs to practise his free throws more :D

I think he needs to get his teammates involved a bit more (as far as assists go), but he's definitely improving that anyways so it doesn't matter. I read a quote where someone said he was like Kemp in his prime, I think by the end of the season people will be saying he's better than Kemp was in his prime.

Mon Jan 03, 2005 2:34 pm

Well it's his job to score. I mean it's not like he is playing PG like say Marbury, Baron or Francis and he is scoring. I agree that he should try to get more assists, but they have Nash to do that for now and other players such as Barbosa, Jacobsen etc. I'm pretty sure if they asked him to pass the ball more he would, but right now they want him to go to the basket and its not like he is forcing anything either. He is shooting well from the field so it's not like he is going through triple teams and turning the ball over. So I like the way he is playing, BUT if he wants to become an elite player in the league he needs to learn how to make his teammates better as well.

Mon Jan 03, 2005 2:43 pm

The way he's playing is fine at the moment, and there is no need for him to boost his assist numbers too much (he's at 1.4apg) but if he could up that to 4 or so I think he'd be completely unstoppable. If he maintained his scoring too.

On a sidenote... in Wilt's first three seasons he averaged 2.3, 1.9 and 2.4 assists then upped it to around 4, including two seasons at 7.8 and 8.6.. just thought that was an interesting comparison, considering Amare's early assist numbers are pretty similar.

Mon Jan 03, 2005 2:55 pm

I don't think Amare at this moment will be averaging 4 dimes a game, he can get it up to 2.5-3 assits a game, but he doesn't have the vision of passing skill right now, and I'd say for now it's a good thing for him to just concentrate on scoring. If he starts trying to be a playmaker it will just increase hsi and the teams turnovers.

That's how you score 50 though, shoot 20-27 from the field, he got to the line 17 times too, but didn't make his throws too well making only 10. I was watching the game too, Amare had some nice plays to add to the 50.

Superstar in the making..

and seven free throws too :P

He's one of the stronger guys in the league. If he's that strong and an awesome inside presence, he's probably most efficient by scoring down low and getting easy points for the Suns. Sure, it'd help if he can boost his assists per game like Shaq and Malone had, but I wouldn't be too concerned if he's giving us 25 a game.

Tue Jan 04, 2005 4:21 am

but with all this done he still won't be a starter for the Western All-Stars with KG and TD leading the way.

Tue Jan 04, 2005 4:43 am

He'll start for the West within the next 3 years. If he becomes a more complete player, mix that in with the fact that all he does on offense is dunk people are definitely going to vote him in. Probably in place of Duncan or something, can't see KG being knocked off at all. Unless they list Amare as a C. Although then there's Yao and his Asian buddies voting for him.

Tue Jan 04, 2005 5:26 am

But the coaches would vote him in for sure, so no big deal if he's not going to be a starter if he's going to get quality playing time.

Wtf? In place of Duncan?
He will never get same good as Duncan :!:

Duncan and KG have locked up the western all-start starting foward positions for the next 8 years. Duncan may not be flashy, but his fundamental style of play has brought the Spurs 2 rings and possibly more on the way.

Tue Jan 04, 2005 7:58 am

i don't get how amare gives up 7 inches and almost 70 pounds to yao yet he rebounds the same, scores more, has a higher fg percentage with less refined post moves. yao has more post moves than amare yet the guy still settles for jumpers and turnaround j's. ahhhh the logic

I doubt that alot. There's no way Duncan can maintain the way he's playing for another 8 years. Also, with the way Amare's coming along who's to say he won't be averaging 35/10 within the next 8 years? People want to see excitement and all that kind of thing, at the moment they vote in Duncan because they feel he deserves to be there but there's no way that he won't get overtaken by someone eventually.

Tue Jan 04, 2005 1:25 pm

Amare is doing really well. I hope he keeps it up. He also got the cover of Slam (Y)

In the future he will be as good or better
It wont take long
As long as he keeps this up

Tue Jan 04, 2005 1:45 pm

duncan doesn't need a PG to give him the ball, Amare does.

Tue Jan 04, 2005 2:04 pm

And your point is? :?

He's young and is developing some post moves that are gonna help him when Nash is not giving him the ball.

i wouldn't rule that out. there's a strong chance duncan will be penciled in as a starting pf in the all star game for many years to come. he's just 28 and since his game is based on excellent fundamentals rather then athleticism, his game should not faulter as he heads into his mid-30's. also assuming they remain spurs, tp and manu should be reaching their primes, decreasing the amount of double teams duncan faces

Tue Jan 04, 2005 3:38 pm

Yao doesnt even deserve to be in the All-Star game.....who cares about positions....Amare should start C, that way Webber and Nowitzki are guaranteed to back up Duncan and Garnett

Tue Jan 04, 2005 4:01 pm

ya thats true, yao is cheating the system..his potential is there, but he isn't coming close to it. He just has over 1billion people supporting him in china
I bet if a player comes from India, he will be a all-start every year too

Tue Jan 04, 2005 4:07 pm

Amare could replace Duncan or KG at power forward, but only if he achieves the same kind of popularity while remaining one of the league's top big men. Whether he's actually better than KG or Duncan three, four years down the road doesn't really matter - around the mid 90s, Malone was probably playing at a higher level than Barkley but Sir Charles was voted to start year after year.

Every post player needs a PG to give them the ball :P

No really though, Amare scored 25 on 50% or so shooting last season without a PG to get him easy baskets, so it's not big deal. Nash is just making him shoot 60% instead

Oh so true, the starting lineup should be:

G - Nash
G - Allen or Kobe
F - KG
F - Duncan
C - Amare

Tue Jan 04, 2005 10:37 pm

Yeah,now it's Duncan vs Amare!
There is no way that amare will have same fundamentals as Duncan. And i want to see how many rings he is able to win.If we talk about who is better playa,it's about rings, trips to finals etc.And Duncan makes everyone better around him.Amare don't.
