try defragging your hard drive, maybe reinstalling the game helps. Run dxdiag to make sure nothing is causing problems.

I have already run dxdiag and I have reinstalled the game about 3 times. Nothing seems to work.

No problems with any other game or any previous Live series. NBA Live 2005 works great on another computer. I do not know if I am overclocking anything.

you should forgive us as your problem is a little vague to say the least.

Other suggestions: what background apps do you have running?
Is your PC cooled decently; a hot gpu can cause lagging systems.

Are you sure all latest drivers are installed: sound, mobo chipset, graph card, directX. Update your Windows with all the available updates.

I do not know what background apps I am running. My PC is cooled farily well. It has 2 fains installed and the Geforece FX5500 OC has a fan.

I have the latest video, graphics card, and directX drivers installed. I do not know about the mobo. Is VIA a motherboard chipset?

I downloaded the latest driver for VIA. Although the game still locked up/froze a few seconds at random times troughout the game I was playing, I was able to finish 1 full game. Then the game crashed. I do not know what to do now.

I think I have solved the problem. The detail settings in the game were set to 1024x768x32. I set them to a lower standard to see what it would do. At 640x480x32, it didnt lag/lock up randomly/freeze up during the game. I also tried it on 800x600x32-it too was effective.

I didnt know the in game resolution mattered much. Does it?
