I think this is a pretty good move for Memphis. I'm not too much of a big fan of Fratello because I haven't really seem him coach, but it was the same with Hubie when he came in so let's hope he can turn things around like Hubie did.

i also posted a thread about this bbut without the link. now somebody pls delete my thread and use this thread.

this was my post there:
I was wathcing Lakers-Kings game and they flash Mike Fratello as the new Grizz Head Coach.

No link yet but i will add it soon.

After Hubie Brown step down i was hoping they wolud get Mike and they did.

Im a Gizz fans now!!!!

Mike was alont time asistant of Coach Hubie and he will take over the team that the coach was Hubie Brown

Good signing, should pretty much continue the work Hubie was doing.

I don't want to start anything here, but was Micchy Boy's post just too similar to something Homer would post for it's own good? He normally seems different.

TV analyst Mike Fratello reportedly is close to replacing Hubie Brown as coach of the Grizzlies. Brown, 71, has retired, citing "health-related issues." Jerry West feared the day he would leave. Under Lionel Hollins, the Grizz lost by 25 at Minnesota.

.... hmmm... but if Fratello comes in and turns things around, then the Griz will go back to playing bad

Fratello's a capable NBA coach, he should do a good job. In the 80s his Hawks were a perennial playoff team that made some noise in the postseason but just weren't good enough to get all the way to the Finals. Considering the talent at his disposal he had a decent run in Cleveland too, guiding them to a couple of playoff appearances. His arrival won't forge Memphis into one of the NBA's elite on par with, say, San Antonio; but I shouldn't imagine he'll run them into the ground.

Having Fratello as a commentator and a coach in Live 2005 will be interesting.

What does this mean for 06? Are they going to have to get new commentators?

Al Michaels and Marv Albert are both play-by-play announcers. So it would be Marv and another colour commentator.

I don't think you'll have to worry about that since Walton's on ESPN these days.

thanks GOD!!!though i hope live wont make a move to get him, offering him more money.

I think they may make it a 3 man team, I say add Barkley (gotta love his trash talking) and Kenny Smith or Magic Johnson (y)

Of course have Marv as play by play, and let Barkley do the funny/stats quoting commenty and Kenny or Magic to do the history/tactics side to it.

But yeah I think Walton wont come in cause hes registered to the boring ESPN crew....

hmm Dick Vitale would rock, but hes in college hoops....but it'll be awesome having him with his nutty comments. :D

Hmmm so when is Mike Fratello gonna be confirmed??, I guess the TNT contract maybe causing a problem or two.

Tue Nov 30, 2004 12:50 am

How about Tommy Heinsohn(sp?)?
The color commentator for the Celtics. So far, the most biased color commentator i have ever heard...
