This year might just be the MVP year for
Amare Stoudemire, his leading ppg
and 17th in reb, and almost tied second in effeciency
his a real contender to Duncan and Garnett
well see if he could keep up his good work all season
Wed Nov 24, 2004 1:59 am
I reckon both amare stoudemire and ray allen are in great form and could potenitally be mvp candidates if their form continues for rest of season.
Wed Nov 24, 2004 2:08 am
I don't see them at all mvp candidates.
Ok the'yre doing great right now but Garnett, Duncan, Kobe are my mvp candidates.
I don't beleive amare or ray allen can do this the whole season and even if they do others are still playing on a different level.
Wed Nov 24, 2004 7:14 am
Should've made a nice sounding title, geez.
Current MVP Candidates
Kevin Garnett
Tim Duncan
Lebron James
Steve Nash
Dwyane Wade
Ray Allen
Amare Stoudemire
Kobe Bryant

amare is playing great no doubt, but to call him MVP is kinda

..
i think a lot of credit should go to nash for setting him up easy dunks.. i mean you didn't see amare dunk THAT MUCH last season when barbosa or marbury were running the point.. i like to see amare right now as jason kidd's k-mart.. if anyone should be considered MVP in the suns, it should be nash, imo. (im not saying this because im canadian

)

Its take two to tango, Nash need Stoudemire,
and Stoudemire needs Nash,
it might be the new tandem couple ala Stockton-Malone pair
but it might be to early to tell what the big 04-05 season
improvement are, but it sure look like it, especially now
when Artest and J.O´Neal has disappeared for a while.
The other tandem couple sure is Wade-S.O´Neal
Wed Nov 24, 2004 11:24 am
If you think of his team... he got Nash who is getting 11 apg and he got marion who also draws defences.. u cant say hes doin it on his own.
Lebron James is a far superior choice for MVP than him!
Wed Nov 24, 2004 11:24 am
If we need a MVP for the first month, It's Amare or Lebron. However, to keep that up the entire season isn't predictable.
Wed Nov 24, 2004 11:29 am
Lebron James has some god help in Illgaukas
so he could´t make it all by himself, but give him some years
and Michael Jordan might have some competition
in domination of the league.

Everybody on that list has help, and you can't really base a players MVP status on who is around him, but rather how he is playing. Otherwise everbody on fgrep15's list shouldn't be considered an MVP candidate because they all have a good supporting cast or have at least one other player to take the load of off them.
By the way fgrep15, awesome sig

statistically shaq isnt going to win this thing, or come close. He's not playing enough or taking enough shots
Wed Nov 24, 2004 10:29 pm
He's putting up MVP type numbers and the Suns have been one of the best teams in this young NBA season - right now, he'd be a definite candidate. But I wouldn't say that he's head and shoulders above other team leaders. Consider that reigning MVP Kevin Garnett is averaging 23.8 ppg, 15.6 rpg and 6.8 apg, though the Timberwolves have had a slower start. Duncan's numbers are also nice as usual, the Spurs remain one of the top teams in the West.
If Amare keeps it up all year and the Suns remain hot (no pun intended), he has to be given consideration. But I wouldn't pencil him in just yet. You could probably place money on him being an All-Star though.
Disclaimer: Not encouragement to gamble

It's a disappointment to me, but Garnett is not a MVP right now. The Wolves are struggling. I think, a MVP should have great stats and his team should be a contender.

umm u always need help to win, u cant have 1 player win a game for u...thats impossible.
but err no, Amare I doubt will get an MVP shot....cause hes not gonna keep it up all year...the Suns havent played REALLY big opponents yet..hence no good defense on Amare, I love Amare....no doubt but I just think hes 2 or 3 years away from being on the MVP level, by then of course it'll be him, bron, Melo(if he drops his ego n gets a heart transplant, preferably d-rob's heart) n of course T-mac will be in the mix.....n Yao too...n Kobe maybe.....
Thu Nov 25, 2004 9:50 am
i wouldn't worry about KG's slow start till after December. He's gonna pick it up. How about Dirk Nowitzki though, as usual torching opponents with the hot touch!

Boykins for MVP!!!!!
Seriously though....I don't see Amare holding it together to even be in a top 5 list for MVP contenders closer to the end of the season.
Garnett, Kobe (

), Lebron, Tim Duncan, Ray Allen

Amare dunked a lot last season actually, and after Marbury left he averaged 25 and 10.
Also Amare is only getting assisted on 59% of his made FG's, less than KMart last year, and less then Kirilenko last year. Also he's only getting 3 dunks a game, seems like more, but it's not as much as it looks like.
Phoenix is averaging 6 dunks a game as a team. Also with Phoenix it's not just Amare and Nash, it's Amare, Marion and Nash all doing it together, and even Joe Johnson, Q-RIch has yet to find his place.

Boykins for MVP!!!!!
Well why not, but he has to grow some inches first,
I shouldn´t have wrote this, now Amare seems to decline,
just 16 points last game, and Lebron 43 pts,
or was it that they won the game anyway, without Amares
good numbers
