Latest Hook release (0.0.7) causing significant FPS drops

Tue Nov 02, 2021 4:44 pm

When I run a reshader, the forced pictures script, and a couple other mods (e.g. skin texture/sweat, stadiums & baskets, and scoreboard) using Hook 0.0.6, I never had any issues with FPS. I could get 135-165 FPS during in game action.

So I upgraded to the latest Hook file, 0.0.7, today and when I started playing, I noticed a significant drop in my FPS. Down from 135-165 to 60-90 FPS during game action. I know it's a reshader causing this because when I press F3 and turn the reshader off, my FPS numbers return to the 130s-160s. When I turn the reshader back on, the FPS drops again.

As I mentioned, I didn't change my reshader mod, I just upgraded to the new Hook release (0.0.7) and then noticed the FPS drop.

Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone know of a fix? (I'm thinking I might reinstall the previous release (0.0.6) and see if it still happens.

UPDATE: I downgrade back to 6.0 and it's doing the FPS drops now too. Sigh. I don't know why this is happening all of a sudden.

Did you install any reshade?

I did leave the same reshade applied that I was using with the 0.0.7 hook. I basically just deleted all the hook folders and files and then unzipped and dropped the files and folders from the 0.0.6 hook into the game folder. When I'd run with the reshader, it would drop my FPS significantly. When I'd turn them off using 'F3', my FPS would return to where it was.

I wouldn´t recommend using any reshade.

Hi, I had a lag problem using RAY-TRACING, or can I see my FPS level?

Do you have an AMD or NVIDIA graphics card? If you have an NVIDIA, their Geforce Experience software has a great on-screen frame rate display. It's the most accurate one that I've found. Some monitors offer FPS counters and I think even Steam has an overlay which will display your FPS. I also know that EVGA's x1 software (for EVGA branded GPUs) offers an FPS OSD but after using it, I don't think it's very accurate. I use the one through NVIDIA Geforce Experience. I've attached a picture showing how to activate it.

I have found the setting in the reshade menu to disable Ray Tracing and your FPS will return.

1) Press the Home key to pull up the Reshade menu (in game or in a menu screen)

2) Remove the checkmark from the setting: RTGlobalIlluminationCS [qUINT_rtgi_cs.fx]

3) Press Home again and....boom....your FPS will jump back up.

Wooooooo!
