They will always be dangerous as long as they have Curry and Thompson's shooting. I felt good after the first quarter, but then they poured in 41 points in the second quarter :shifty:

Hopefully I can find the motivation to load up this game more often than I have in the past few months. I really want to get to the next draft and add some more young talent to this team.

I'm not sure you will need much more talent if your record means anything. This team seems to be pretty stacked when looking at what a young team is expected to be.

Bucks give their fans a late Christmas present as Giannis re-signs

Image

The Milwaukee Bucks today secured the most sought-after signature in the NBA, with Greek superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo signing a four-year extension worth $155 million. According to sources the final year of the deal is a player option.

It really is a massive coup for a small market franchise to lock down their star player to a long-term contract. Seemingly half of the teams in the league were lining up to pitch to Giannis in the upcoming free agency period. The likes of Toronto, New York, Miami, Boston, Atlanta and even Oklahoma City were rumoured to be ready to offer up a max-level contract to him.

There were even rumours online that LeBron James and Chris Paul were contemplating taking massive pay cuts next season in order to fit Giannis in at the Lakers alongside themselves and Anthony Davis. That would have been the ultimate power move in a league that has recently seen a trend of superstars joining forces to create super-teams.

But Giannis wasn't tempted by the bright lights of Los Angeles or the beaches of Miami. He enjoys staying out of the limelight in Wisconsin. He revealed today that, "I love it in Milwaukee man. My family is settled here, the people are nice and I really enjoy playing with this group of guys."

He also added, "My goal is to bring a championship to Milwaukee. It's been 50 years of waiting for this fanbase, so it would be so much more special to win one here than to go somewhere else and win three or four."

Giannis is the strong favourite to be crowned MVP this season. He leads a pack full of new exciting names in contention for the award, such as Zion Williamson, Nikola Jokic, Anthony Davis and Ben Simmons. Giannis is averaging 29 points, 15 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks per game. It is virtually the exact same stat line he put up last season when he narrowly finished second behind Houston's James Harden in the voting.

Milwaukee currently sit fourth in the eastern conference behind Boston, Brooklyn and Atlanta. They will be hoping to avoid Philadelphia in the playoffs as the 76ers have eliminated them in the conference semifinals in bot of the past two years.

After this announcement the biggest name potential free agents still remaining are LeBron James, Donovan Mitchell, Blake Griffin, Kyle Lowry and Marc Gasol. Meanwhile, the likes of Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Chris Paul, DeMarcus Cousins and Jrue Holiday could all opt-out of their player options for next season and become unrestricted free agents.

Really surprising move for Giannis. Seeing how the Sixers bullied him for 2 seasons with their depth, you would think he would at least wait until Summer to force their hand to get him help. I'm sure the virtual Bucks are excited though!

That's true too. Giannis resigning is probably good for every other team who wants to win (though I'm sure they'd be happier with him).

Your Rockets are also intriguing as they went the opposite route as real life. They signed Muscala, Thompson, and kept Capela. Though I haven't seen enough analytical evidence to support full-time small ball (due to the mitigation of the very important offensive rebounding), apparently the virtual Rockets haven't this time around either.

Re: OKC: Part III - Edwards explodes in overtime classic against Magic

Postby Phil89 on Fri Oct 30, 2020 8:03 pm

I figured that I should post an update in case anyone is still reading this :P

Over the past few weeks I have been manually updating all of the players in this game to match their 2k21 versions. That means positions/height/weight/attributes/badges for all 450 players + free agents.

So far I have completed 400 players. I am currently adjusting the players from the 2020 draft and will probably do a bunch from the free agency pool too before I start playing games again. It is all in an effort to re-align the league a bit closer to the real world and also to reduce unrealistic free agency deals in the future.

For example - Kyle Kuzma was rated 86 overall and was probably going to receive offers of $20 million+ per season in the upcoming free agency period. Now he is rated 76 overall and will get much more realistic contract offers. On the other hand - Fred VanVleet went from 77 to 85 and will now get a more deserved contract in free agency.

I have also done a decent amount of planning for the off-season and the upcoming draft. So I am not planning on ending this any time soon.

It has certainly been a grind. But ultimately I preferred to do it this way and stick with a game that I've put a lot of hours into, rather than buying 2k21 and starting from scratch again.

I'm looking forward to reaching the off-season because I have 3 first round picks and possibly $70 million in cap space to work with. Should be fun :D

Thunder re-sign Lu Dort on multi-year deal

Image

The Oklahoma City Thunder announced today that they have re-signed Canadian guard Luguentz Dort. The 21-year-old defensive specialist has reportedly agreed to a 3-year deal worth $5.2 million. Sources say that the contract is fully guaranteed and has no options. General manager Sam Presti declined to comment on the terms of the deal, per team policy.

Dort, who went undrafted in 2019, was surprisingly not offered a new contract by the Thunder at the end of last season. He signed a one-year deal with the Timberwolves, but unfortunately suffered an ankle injury back in late December which eventually put him out of action for over 3 weeks. Minnesota subsequently waived him and then signed forward David Nwaba for the rest of the season.

Presti and his staff kept a keen eye on Dort's recovery progress and ultimately invited him to workout at their training facility last week. Sources say that he performed well and this led to Presti offering him a contract.

"We love what he can bring to our team, both on and off the court", said Presti in a statement. "This business is full of hard decisions and letting Lu go at the end of last season was a tough call for us. Obviously we're really glad to have him back now."

Center Justin Patton was waived two days ago in order to open up a roster spot for Dort.
