Ah. I'll have to give it some thought.

Great win for the team. Looking at the video, I can definitely see a freight train type from Edwards. The defender backed away immediately to avoid that contact. He and Shai fit as well as you would expect from the draft hype around Edwards.

Phil89 wrote:Ideally we would draft an offensively gifted center who can take over from Adams to complete the team.

This is really interesting. I actually would think you guys needed a more low-maintenance center like Adams, who is more defensive focused, just younger. A Bam comes to mind here. Why do you think an offensive one would fit more around these guys?

Well basically just so that I could have a different type of offensive threat alongside SGA and Edwards. Adams is a great defensive anchor, but he will never get me 20 points a game consistently. Although maybe I don't need that now that Mobley is emerging.

Adams is also expiring this season and I don't really know yet what I'm going to do with him.

Might want to trade him to a buying team and try and get 2nd round picks or a late 1st if you guys come back down to earth with the rooks.

Depending on how you messed with Peak Ages though, a lot of players never start declining until they are 33-35 and can contribute on a high level for the team until then within default 2K. So you could also use him to be your vet and anchor like a Tyson Chandler if you guys continue winning.

I'd wait and see how you are by the point of the trade deadline personally before deciding about him. (Y)

I'm fine with keeping him. He is willing to sign an extension right now for about $18m per season, which is about $10m less than he is earning this season. I could even frontload the deal to help preserve cap room for when I have to re-sign my rookies in the future.

We have 3 first round picks in the draft again next year (#13, #22 & #28 as things stand). Maybe I could package the latter two up with Adams and try to get another pick that is likely to be in the lottery.

We built up a 10 point lead with a couple of minutes left in the third quarter. But they closed the quarter on like a 13-0 run. We never got close again after that.

Chris Paul seems to be really playing for the ring for LA. Either that, or he is mad that you traded him so he had a better shot at winning a ring.

I totally forgot this was a thing... is it still in 2K20? Is it for home Lakers games? I play a ton of 2K but can't recall ever having him commentate.

He is probably just mad that I didn't use him as my main offensive player last season and wanted to prove a point. He should be happy that I basically guaranteed him a ring though :)

Knicks acquire all-star Lowry from Raptors

Image

A potentially power-shifting trade happened in the eastern conference today. The New York Knicks acquired all-star point guard Kyle Lowry from the Toronto Raptors. The 34 year-old heads to the Knicks in exchange for several expiring contacts and draft picks.

The sixth-seeded Knicks will pair Lowry with fellow all-star DeMarcus Cousins. The supporting cast around them isn't too bad either, with Julius Randle, Dennis Smith Jr, RJ Barrett, Kevin Knox, Mitchell Robinson, Frank Ntilikina and Allonzo Trier. Suddenly this team looks like it could challenge the likes of Boston, Philadelphia and Milwaukee in the eastern playoff race.

Even at his advanced age, Lowry is still contributing nearly 18 points and 8 assist per game this season. That is particularly impressive when you factor in how poorly the Raptors have been playing. He could very well be the piece that the Knicks need to take their offense to another level. DeMarcus Cousins is finally back fit and playing great basketball. He is averaging 23 points and 10 rebounds per game and has got the crowds at MSG excited again.

Currently sitting in sixth place with a 12-11 record, the Knicks are well placed to become legitimate contenders.

Toronto pulling the trigger on this deal seems to suggest that they are giving up on this season and the championship potential of their current group of players. They sit rock bottom of the eastern conference after a disastrous 2-20 start to the season and show no signs of improving.

Masai Ujiri has decided to move on from the likes of Lowry, Marc Gasol and possibly even Serge Ibaka. Those three are all in their thirties and on expiring contracts, so it also makes sense to trade them whilst he can still extract some value from them. The team will now be restructured around Pascal Siakam, Fred VanVleet, OJ Anunoby and Nico Mannion.

Draft experts are calling the upcoming 2021 draft the deepest in a while, so adding an extra first rounder from the Knicks will be good for the Raptors. If the draft were held today Toronto would hold picks #1 and #15.

The other thing that trading away Lowry does is it frees up a big chunk of salary cap space which could have been used if he had re-signed with the Raptors. This room will no doubt be allocated for the pursuit of superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, who may be a free agent at the end of the season.

Yeah, he looked decent early in his career but never really took that next step.

Also for some reason these virtual Raptors haven't reached the heights of their IRL counterparts. They are having a 2012 Bobcats-esque season, so it made sense to retool a bit.

Warriors acquire former number one pick from Timberwolves

Image

The Golden State Warriors announced today that they had acquired former first overall pick Andrew Wiggins from the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The full trade sees the Timberwolves send Wiggins, Jordan Bell, Keita Bates-Diop and an unprotected 2024 first round pick to the Warriors in exchange for D'Angelo Russell, Omari Spellman and Jacob Evans III.

There has been speculation about Russell's future with the Bay Area franchise pretty much from the moment they acquired him in a sign-and-trade deal with the Nets in the off-season, as part of Kevin Durant's move to Brooklyn. A major reason behind the conjecture was his lack of natural fit alongside superstar Steph Curry, as they both prefer to play at the point guard position.

After Klay Thompson returned from injury quicker than expected, Russell found himself reduced to a bench role. Now Bob Myers has decided to trade him for a player that should fit better into their team structure. That player is Andrew Wiggins.

People sometimes forget that this Warriors team still has the core from their 73-win season. A player of Wiggins' talents should be able to fill the role that Harrison Barnes played on that team. Clearly their coaching staff will be looking for more than that from him though and are trusting their system and team culture can help him finally live up to his draft position. He no longer has the pressure to be the star player on the team, so perhaps that will help him relax more on the court and rediscover his passion for the game.

An underrated part of this trade is the Warriors acquiring Minnesota's 2024 first round pick. Being unprotected, it could be a valuable asset for when their inevitable post-Curry rebuild begins. The Timberwolves aren't exactly the most stable franchise in the league and a lot can change in 3 or 4 years.

Golden State currently sit one place behind the Timberwolves in sixth place, with an 18-13 record.

This is a big power move by the Timberwolves. They have taken a big gamble in order to pair up two of the best young players in the NBA, Karl-Anthony Towns and D'Angelo Russell. What better way to keep their all-star big man happy than acquiring one of his best friends? Even better when that friend is a borderline all-star himself who now gives them a legitimate star pairing to build a championship contender around.

Andrew Wiggins always seemed to struggle under the weight of expectations from being a former number one pick and he often found himself as a cause of frustration amongst Timberwolves fans. But now his reign of terror is over and the fans can find cause for optimism once more.

The safety that comes with getting a player who is on a long-term contract already is a big bonus for small market teams. It may not have mattered ultimately, given his friendship with Towns, but having Russell locked in for another three seasons is a great thing for the Timberwolves.

The real loser in this trade is Dennis Schroder. The former Atlanta and Oklahoma City point guard, having lost his starting role once again, may leave as a free agent at the end of the season to find more playing time. The German international is averaging 22 points and 8 assists per game so far this season, so he won't be lacking for offers in the Summer.

Minnesota are currently sitting in fifth spot in the western conference with an 18-11 record.

Golden State receive

Andrew Wiggins - 25 - SF - $94.7m - 3 years (83)
