Is there an easy way to merge a team from a roster to another roster?

I have made a custom team with custom players on a roster called "Sydneykings.ROS" and they work fine playing against the 2k14 teams, but how would i copy this sydney kings team to UBR so I can play against the 2k20 teams? Is there an easy way? I only saw one video that you had to download multiple programs and it took 25 minutes :/ Thanks guys.

My understanding is that a custom team file can be imported into any roster, though that likely also depends on the roster having the capacity for it. A custom roster may already be at the limit of data that can be added to it, in which case trying to import the custom team would likely cause a crash and/or corruption of the roster.

In that case, it might be easier to just overwrite one of the extra teams that's already in the roster. That should be as easy as copying and pasting the data from one roster into another, which can be done using RED MC. The full version is completely free now, so you'll have complete access to do that. It's just like copying and pasting in an Excel spreadsheet, which is very handy!

Just a heads up if you haven't used RED MC yet, it may trigger a false positive with your anti-virus software due to the callback it makes to Vlad's site. You can add an exception for it in your security software, or temporarily disable the active shields while you use RED MC so it doesn't interfere and remove the program. You may have to do that while you download it as well, as sometimes it immediately gets flagged.

Well... its not easy for beginner. You must paste players from players tab and then paste your team row from teams tab into other roster teams tab. Players IDs must be the same in teams tab or if they will be different you must change them manually in teams tab. If you dont know how to, you can make backups and try. Bad paste will cause crashing.

i have zero experience with csv function. I dont think you should use 'annoying" word, REDMC is great tool if not the best ever modding tool.

It just seems like a basic function, I exported them as CSV's which worked, then edited my properties in (since it doesnt let u copy paste in REDMC for some reason, tried heaps then got a modder friend to try and didn't work for him either) but it won't even let me import in :/

Appreciate the upload to the Downloads section, great to see. (Y) Just a heads up, when you've got a new version to release, editing the previous upload is preferable as it avoids duplicates and confusion. You can either replace the old file, or add the new version while leaving the old one (the old one will then be selectable in a dropdown menu next to the Download button) if you want to leave any previous releases available to download as well.

Look man, don't go making problems where there aren't any, okay? Right click on first cell of tab you want to export to excel. Select all>copy> paste into excel> re-edit what you want to edit>paste into redmc.

Explain? I exported the whole thing to excel (with export to CSV) then tried to import it so it would overwrite with my changes, nothing happened :/. I tried doing it with a single file and with the whole folder, neither option worked.

When copying rosters or portions of rosters I do not use the CSV option. I directly copy and paste back and forth to a blank Excel sheet. Never tried the CSV option. I only copied the whole RedMC tab, made edits and then copied it back to RedMC. I never tried to add new entries and I doubt that would work.

I'm doing a similar thing.

I'm moving teams into the URB base roster, so I can have a collection of classic teams I want. Unfortunately, the URB only goes back to the mid 80s, so for teams earlier I need Pattheheads single seasons, but I cant get the files. His links put me through, MEGA, which is fine, but the time it takes to download is unreal, I've had one of the downloads going for 2 days.

I have a fast internet connection, and this is the only file set that works this way.

Either way, I dont use excel to move teams. I do it all right in RED MC by copying and pasting and just switching through tabs. If you get the system down it can be done in line 20 minutes per team.

I haven't done it in about 3 years, so I am going to see if I remember all the steps.

The owners of the UBR said they'd do it for me for $10... lol....

But yeah, it's weird the CSV function is there yet it doesn't work... very odd. I didn't realise you could copy paste from excel into the sheets so thats kinda useful and I'll try that, I have a feeling it won't work though, and why Bassman do you think adding new entries won't work... how are you meant to add new teams to the roster then lmao

did you copy and paste the ASAID from one roster to another as well?

Into the 91 slot for teams (which is where it is on the default roster, which is empty in UBR, i assume its empty because its a slot for "created teams"). But it doesn't work. Just crashes everytime.


1. start game, create new (fictional) team ingame.
2. save file ingame.
3. yet open file with Reditor and overwrite created team.

did you copy and paste the ASAID from one roster to another as well?
if you did your game crashes.
do not touch ASAID.



I have no idea what ASAID is.

Doesn't let me, I load UBR 47 and try to create a team, for one the logo glitches out and doesn't let me select one, then when i try to create a team, I can only assign 1 player to it then it just says like "no clone slots avaliable" so i can only get 2/15 players on the team, and u need at least 12/15 to save the team. So that's not an option.

^ I also tried to paste just the players themselves... still crashes. Guess you can't transfer players/teams across rosters...

Ofc you can but there is a lot of points of pasting where you can messed up things. You cant just paste full rows of teams tab. Same with players. Players in one roster can be assigned to TeamID x but in your roster it should be TeamID y. etc etc etc.

Most UBR rosters are near the maximum roster size due to having many teams and players added. The ROS file has a finite size so you may not be able to add more entries. You should be able to replace a team without issues.

ASA_ID is an ID assigned to every player and this value must be unique. No duplicates. Duplicates cause crashes. If you have Charles Barkley on two teams each must have a different ASA_ID. ASA_IDs can be re-numbered.

My feeling is that you can't copy more data in to a smaller container. This would happen if you export to Excel, add some more lines and then import back to RedMC. Can't stuff 10 lbs of s*** in a 5 lb bag. But you can clone lines to add new lines that you can then edit. I try to edit the existing unused lines first. That is the lines with asterisks (*************). I think these are reserved for created teams and future updates by 2K Sports. This is all my speculation since 2K Sports never shared their information and I doubt they ever will. NBA 2K was not designed for modding. Only the efforts of dedicated fans and modders have allowed us to mod at all.

Adding a new team is a step by step process. Baby steps only. Otherwise it's easy to mess up. Make frequent backups so you can revert to the last working roster. It is really easy to mess up. I have learned by lots of trial and LOTS of error. :!: I'm sure Skoadam and PatTheHead would agree. I learned by emulating what other roster makers have done before me.

I tried replacing the **** which is reserved for created teams, which is what it was in the original roster, in the same slot it was in my roster. But nup :/

Yeah and I gave them new ASA_ID's and it still doesn't work if I try to just paste 1 player removing another player.

Yeah i fixed this all when I was comparing it in excel to UBR, all of them have the same unique TeamID which is to the created team, just the crashing is messed up. Not sure how to do this.

So upon practicing yet again, I was able to figure out how to move teams from roster to roster.

It took me roughly 15 minutes to move one team, I may make a short video on how I did it.
