NBA Live 2005 Retrospective

In my NBA Live 2004 retrospective, I summed up that game by calling it a tough act to follow. That's what makes NBA Live 2005 so impressive, as it met the standard of its predecessor and raised the bar even higher. Many would call it the best game in the NBA Live series, or at the very least, rank it somewhere in the top five, if not the top three. It's a reputation that's well-earned, as it improved upon NBA Live 2004 in just about every way possible, and still holds up extremely well over a decade later. It had a few issues of course, but it was still a great release, and remains a personal favourite of mine. Let's take a look back at another milestone game in the NBA Live series.

It's my last updated and revised retrospective; from NBA Live 06 onwards, it'll be completely brand new content! In the meantime, take a look back at NBA Live 2005, a truly outstanding release.

2005 was a really fun game to both play and mod. Props to the art team, as every single jersey in the game was 100% accurate which almost never happens.

Also the All Star Weekend and dunk contest especially were long time requests that were finally brought to life! What a huge surprise

Soundtrack was really good as well during this 3 year span of 2004-06

You know, I haven't covered the soundtracks too much so far in the retrospectives - I might do a separate article on that, actually - but I'd definitely agree, that era had some great tracks.

This was the game that made me buy a video card for my college PC so that I could game on it. It was the first PC game I ever played, and was my introduction into both this community and modding PC games in general. I have such immensely fond memories of this one.

It was a great time for NBA Live, a second Golden Age as I said.
