Well there is no requirement to dribble the ball, so he should have been in his element.

Was it obvious at all that I played as Team Giannis and tried to get Simmons the MVP?

Nah, he just had a bad shooting night. He still had a better game than Lillard overall.

I doubt he'll reach 50 points again, but he may have some big scoring nights now that the playoffs are out of reach and I don't have to worry so much about winning

I just found out something interesting today regarding the custom teams in MyLeague.

You can have up to 3 custom team designs on an offline save game. But if you want more than that you have to enable online saving. It warns you that doing this will require connection to the 2k server and the save won't load without it.

So that is good news for this save game at least. I can keep it going long-term as long as I don't enable online saving (Y)

Good news indeed! It's good that you're notified about it as well, so it's not an unpleasant surprise if the server is having problems, or when it's eventually shutdown.

Yeah. It sucks that I lost my Suns game, but I'm happy with this one now. So I guess it all worked out okay in the end.

There seems to be two races going on for draft position right now. Charlotte and Washington for picks 1-2; and us, Sacramento, Memphis and Chicago for picks 3-6.

Whatever ends up happening, I should have an interesting draft with 3 first rounders to use.

Half of my starters were fatigued, so it was an great effort to even still be in the game that late. SGA was a beast (35pts/10ast on 13-16 shooting) :)

I don't know if he will definitely be the main star of my team, but I can see him being "the second option on a good playoff team" type of player. Maybe a Mike Conley type of career.

Obviously he has already shown that he can score and at 6'5" I think he can develop into a great defensive player. His assist numbers should improve naturally if/when I move him to point guard.

His development will probably depend on what happens during this off-season: who I draft and whether or not I can trade Chris Paul to free up the starting point guard spot for him.

20/3/20

2020 NBA Draft: Latest Top 10 Rankings

Image

Pick 1
Image Charlotte Hornets [19-50]

Image

The Hornets literally can't make a bad choice here, as long as it is either Anthony Edwards or James Wiseman. The latter would probably be a better fit alongside their rising star Malik Monk, but Edwards has edged slightly ahead in the race to be number one with his recent form. Monk is averaging over 20 points per game in his third season in the NBA.

Edwards has an NBA-ready body and is an efficient scoring threat from nearly everywhere on the court. It's not hard to imagine him entering the league and dominating in a similar fashion to what 2019 first overall pick Zion Williamson has.

If the Hornets feel that Edwards is the best player available, then they should forget about how he fits into their team. That is a problem for another day.

2019-20 Stats: 27.3 PPG - 6.2 RPG - 5.5 APG - 2.0 SPG - 1.3 BPG

NBA Comparison: Donovan Mitchell

-----

Pick 2
Image Washington Wizards [23-44]

Image

Washington would have absolutely no problem with being left to pick James Wiseman. He could give them a legitimate big three alongside all-stars John Wall and Bradley Beal, and it would also help them avoid the headache of trying to accommodate both Beal and Anthony Edwards in the same team.

Wiseman has been hyped as a potential top pick since high school and he has definitely lived up to the hype with his impressive college career at Memphis. He's a new-age big man who has got great length, agility and a wealth of natural talent. His hunger to score and rebound the ball are probably unmatched amongst his peers and that makes him so hard for opponents to contain.

Assuming the scouting reports prove correct, Wiseman will not look out of place going up against the likes of Joel Embiid, Anthony Davis, Nikola Jokic or Karl-Anthony Towns in the coming years.

2019-20 Stats: 27.1 PPG - 14.5 RPG - 3.5 APG - 1.0 SPG - 3.9 BPG

NBA Comparison: DeAndre Ayton

-----

Pick 3
Image Oklahoma City Thunder [23-44]

Image

This is a bit of an awkward spot for Oklahoma City. After Edwards and Wiseman there are about five prospects who are rated similarly, with three of those being point guards. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is looking like their future in that position, so it seems as though they would look at someone like Isaiah Stewart with this pick due to their lack of quality at the power forward spot.

The Washington big man is a powerhouse who has broad shoulders and an NBA-ready frame. He can play at either center or power forward, but will likely see most of his time at the latter in the NBA because he is slightly undersized. He controls the paint on offense, but is also comfortable stepping out to the mid-range to score.

A frontcourt pairing of Stewart and Steven Adams would be amongst the strongest and toughest in the league, especially defensively.

2019-20 Stats: 23.4 PPG - 11.5 RPG - 2.9 APG - 1.1 SPG - 2.9 BPG

NBA Comparison: Zach Randolph

-----

Pick 4
Image Chicago Bulls [24-45]

Image

Chicago are in a similar position to the Thunder after having drafted Coby White with the seventh pick in the 2019 draft. However, he hasn't quite shown his true potential yet, averaging just 11 points and 4 assists per game as Kris Dunn's understudy. Perhaps the Bulls rate LaMelo Ball higher and see him as a better long-term prospect.

LaMelo is the wild card at the top end of the draft. He seems to have the talent to be taken first overall, but he has yet to fully put things together and dominate on-court. Although NBA general managers will never admit it publicly, the constant drama that seems to surround Ball's family has a negative bearing on his draft stock.

Ball is currently having a very solid season with the Illawarra Hawks in Australia.

2019-20 Stats: 19.4 PPG - 6.8 RPG - 8.3 APG - 1.9 SPG - 0.4 BPG

NBA Comparison: (Pre-injury) Shaun Livingston

-----

Pick 5
Image Memphis Grizzlies [26-42]

Image

Memphis are currently holding on to their first round pick by a slim margin. If it were to fall outside the top six selections, it would be conveyed to Boston due to the protection placed on it.

The Grizzlies are building around young duo Jaren Jackson Jr and Ja Morant. It would make sense for them to go for a wing scorer with this pick and Israeli Deni Avdija could be their man. He has been getting a lot of hype as the next Luka Doncic from some NBA scouts. Others see him as more of a Danilo Gallinari type; a great shooter, but limited athletically.

Avdija's greatest strength is his perimeter shooting and that is perhaps the most coveted thing in the modern NBA.

2019-20 Stats: 24.8 PPG - 5.7 RPG - 3.9 APG - 1.2 SPG - 1.0 BPG

NBA Comparison: Gordon Hayward

-----

Pick 6
Image Sacramento Kings [25-44]

Image

RJ Hampton is another prospect who has forgone a college career in favour of playing professionally for a season in Australia. That move certainly seems to have paid off as he is absolutely dominating the NBL and looks set to be named league MVP. That won't hurt his draft stock at all.

Where he goes in the top ten will probably be determined by which teams are picking and what they feel their most urgent needs are. He could easily be the first player selected after Edwards and Wiseman, but he could also fall down to 7th or 8th if the likes of Oklahoma City, Sacramento and Memphis don't rate him above their current point guard talent.

Hampton is a player who will do a bit of everything on offense and is very good at most of it. He can step outside and knock down the three ball, but also drive to the basket and finish. If he sees a teammate in a better position he won't hesitate to find them with a precise pass.

2019-20 Stats: 28.2 PPG - 5.5 RPG - 9.2 APG - 3.7 SPG - 0.5 BPG

NBA Comparison: Jamal Murray

-----

Pick 7
Image Detroit Pistons [29-40]

Image

Despite former MVP Derrick Rose having a solid season and playing every game so far, the Detroit Pistons could very well jump at the opportunity to add a point guard with this pick. North Carolina's Cole Anthony would be a great choice.

He is a lightning quick and may just have the best handles of any prospect in this draft. He has also proven himself to be a great decision maker on the court and has a great feel for the game. Like every great point guard he is capable of making his teammates better, but is a very capable scorer in his own right. Many scouts have called him the most athletically gifted player in this draft.

Cole is the son of former NBA player Greg Anthony.

2019-20 Stats: 19.2 PPG - 4.7 RPG - 7.5 APG - 3.2 SPG - 0.4 BPG

NBA Comparison: Kyrie Irving

-----

Pick 8
Image Dallas Mavericks [29-40]

Image

French prospect Theo Maledon could be the answer for Dallas with this pick, given their recent success with European players and their need for a long-term point guard solution.

The talented guard has been tearing it up in the French league this season. He has all the physical tools to excel in the NBA, including nice length and great size and strength for a guard. He is a similar type of player to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander with his size and speed.

In almost any other year he would go higher than this in the draft, but there are so many top point guard prospects in this class. It will be interesting to see who ends up being the best of them in the NBA after a few years.

2019-20 Stats: 21.5 PPG - 4.9 RPG - 8.4 APG - 3.5 SPG - 0.6 BPG

NBA Comparison: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

-----

Pick 9
Image Orlando Magic [28-40]

Image

It would be somewhat ironic for Orlando to miss out on all of the top point guard talent considering that has been a big problem area for them in recent years. But at least former number one pick Markelle Fultz seems to be injury-free and finally on track to fulfil his potential. He has only missed one game so far this season and has nearly doubled his scoring output from last season.

One thing the Magic really lack is a quality wing scorer. Washington's Jaden McDaniels, the younger brother of Charlotte's Jalen, could be the solution to this problem for them. He has good height and length and has shown glimpses of being an elite scorer.

His length would really fit in well with their young core of Fultz, Jonathan Isaac and Mo Bamba. They would have the potential to be a great defensive unit.

2019-20 Stats: 26.2 PPG - 5.5 RPG - 3.9 APG - 1.2 SPG - 1.0 BPG

NBA Comparison: Brandon Ingram

-----

Pick 10
Image Atlanta Hawks [30-37]

Image

Things are looking pretty good in Atlanta right now. Trae Young and John Collins are emerging stars, whilst last years lottery picks De'Andre Hunter and Cam Reddish are amongst the best performing rookies this season.

The additions of Nerlens Noel and Danilo Gallinari have certainly boosted their playoff hopes, but perhaps another year in the lottery wouldn't be the worst thing for them if they can add yet another talented youngster to their core.

Samuell Williamson is a player who has really jumped up a lot of draft boards due to his strong form with Louisville. He is a superb athlete and is very comfortable finding his own shot. Those two things combined make him a very solid scorer, who has the versatility to play at either the small forward or shooting guard positions.

2019-20 Stats: 22.7 PPG - 5.3 RPG - 3.6 APG - 1.1 SPG - 1.0 BPG

NBA Comparison: Jayson Tatum

Nice. That's one of the things I really enjoy about NBA 2K's modes: the record and stat tracking. It just makes it more immersive, like you're creating your own virtual NBA history rather than just playing NBA seasons in a bubble.

I agree. Actually that is the one problem with downloading and adding created players into MyLeague; they have no history/stats.

I had to re-add some guys like Julius Randle and Jabari Parker to the game last off-season because they vanished and now they have no history beyond this season.
