[CE]Camera Settings/Modding

Postby ksmiz on Tue Oct 08, 2019 6:34 pm

This is a very early version of a cheat table for camera settings
I will probably never know what all of these numbers/values mean
If you break something and change a default value don't blame me you do all of this at your own risk
backup your settings and userdata files
don't send me messages about how you messed up your camera settings

Don't assume anything in this table is labelled correctly

again this is a work in progress / incomplete / early project

the one good example I can show is changing focal length here you can see how the focal length changes the way it looks
2K view has a starting/normal/default focal length of 35. 35 is a default basic focal length for pretty much many things just life in general
Focal length of 55 in 2K view looks like this:
Image
Focal length of 25 in 2K view looks like this:
Image

here is basically what you will be looking at
I've only really put descriptions for 2K view and even then I do not know what I am trying to describe
you will have to mess with these things and figure out what they do
so have fun but again do all this with caution

For some reference numbers here some numbers in blender

Do you think we could mod camera settings for replays ? I've always dreamed about realistic top 10 and highlights :)

Oh I really like this concept. I would love to play the game in 2k cam then have highlights in broadcast cam. I don’t work with CE but if someone more advanced would run with this idea I’d be so very grateful.

That's a good idea for sure but I was talking about replays like in a replay editor. It would be truely amazing that we'd be able to save a dunk from exact same points of views as in real life. I mean : just behind the glass, from the cameraman's sitting on the floor angle, etc. It's basically not possible right now, what a shame !

Kinda like this cool camera view.

TNT also has a cool one that sits on top of the backboard or right above it.

Yes ! Exactly like that. I started 2 years ago now a MyLeague where I played with every teams along the season and saved different highlights. But since the result was not realistic enough I stoped...

I think a realistic replay editor would be a huge step in broadcast realism. Imagine a MyPlayer top 10 in career with realistic camera angles

Plus there is someone on 2K18 if I remember well who reproduced a lot of real life highlights in the game. Crazy af ! I don't even realize how good it could've been with a descent camera system...

So back when 2K17 was current, I did small intros to my gameplay videos (To music) to kind of hype up the video.

I was able to get some decent camera view shots, but nothing steady like right behind the backboard. I feel like some of these views are nice, and some are used when you watch a broadcast and they show replays, but camera views at the feet, or behind (Or on top) of the backboard would have been great.

phpBB [video]

I did another one that included the real introduction for the 2011 finals game 4, and a proper scoreboard. It looks cool, but during the gameplay it is sort of missing the playoff atmosphere.

phpBB [video]

If I get back into playing 2K20, I'll probably try to throw together a dunk comp video like I did for 2K17, but with different camera views. A mod like what ksmiz is creating, one where we can edit different replay camera views, would come in handy.

Yes I think your videos is a good exemple. It's currently the more realistic you can have with the game. In this top 10, you can see that there is the action in broadcast camera and then 2 or 3 times the same action with different angles (Sitting cameraman view for example) + slowmotion sometimes. That's what I tried to have (and you too I guess).

I don't know if you guys are familiar with skates games but the replay editor system they have would be perfect for 2K20. Basically you can be in free cam mode and add keys to guide the camera. The result is very close to real skate videos. In SkaterXL, it's the modders who create the replay editor as the developing team of the game didn't put one in the game.

I'm not a modder myself sadly. I just started modding team floors last year for a 2011 season but in a very basic way following tutorials I found here.

I have not heard of skates.

Most of the camera views in that top 10 are achievable, and for consistent good looking slow motion, you can press in the left stick on the controller and play the replay, and it will look really nice.

#5 on that reel may not be achievable, I'd have to check in game. But you can do similar highlight reels like that already. What is tough is when you try to do a low to the ground camera (like around the feet), or behind the backboard or above it.

I may mess with the stock in game replay a little more to see all the different angles that I can get.

Been working a lot on update some of my camera and release them as CE Table; this one in the video is the last one I'm working on...I did increase the FOV so that the camera doesn't move too much....I'm impressed of the result...

Hopefully this effort is still ongoing. I'm wondering if it's possible to have a the broadcast camera completely static? I have a triple monitor setup and I can run them all as a single monitor at 5760x1080. It's plenty enough to fit the entire court, but all the cameras follow the ball in one way or another. Other sports titles have a way to make super widescreen resolutions have a static camera .. 2K ... well ...
