The absence of Divac will leave the Lakers a little shorthanded in the middle. I'm assuming Briant Grant will move back to centre while Caron Butler will have a chance to start while Mihm remains on the bench.
Meanwhile, it seems that no matter where the Mailman signs he won't be available on opening night. That might just place the career scoring lead out of reach, or perhaps even persuade Malone to call it quits. Rumours continue to swirl, but no situation has been heralded as a done deal. It's safe to assume that retirement is an option he's seriously contemplating at the moment.

Damn!!! I saw this coming! Vlade injured himself!!! He's just wasting space!!!

I hate you, Vlade Divac. Go trade yourself for another high school star.

Chris Mihm will probably get the starting job over Divac in this case, and Brian Grant will move to the Power Forward position untill Karl Malone makes a possible return. Its to bad that Vlade got injured, the Lakers have okay backup players at the 4 and 5, that is with Vlade in the lineup. Now that he will miss some games its not looking that good, but I dont see any BIG problems coming out of this.

Lol...if it wasnt for that trade, then the Lakers wouldnt have had a good backup center to replace Divac, this trade came in very handy.

Hmm, I'd still rather have had they keep Payton. That was a horrendous trade.
Good backup center? Mihm is far from good.

Ohyeah, I meant to say "now they have a backup center" instead of that, but dont get me wrong. I also rather have Payton with the Lakers, but in this situation it worked well for the Lakers.

I just hope Butler can be a starter. I think he can be a really great player for the team like Odom's level or higher.

hes too old force hiim to retired

Mihm's decent, it was a good trade... would've been better to keep Marcus Banks aswell, but the funny thing is GP might not even play for the Celtics.
