It's your OPINION that LeBron is #2 all time, its your OPINION that he should be in the top 5 all time. Its YOUR OPINION, whether you explain it well or not (which you dont, clearly).

Saying "UNDOUBTABLEY" #2 and those who don't have him top 2 are "ignorant", "biased", "old heads", "boomers" (SMDH) "Stans" etc is where YOU WENT WRONG. It is your OPINION that LeBron should be in those spots.

And in mine, for many reasons I have given, HE IS NOT. So I ask kindly that you FIGURE IT OUT, how to communicate your OPINION, not make your OPINION FACT, and not attack those who have a different opinion and can back up the reasons why.

Using that logic...Russell in 2019 would translate? He’d be the equivalent of Willie Cauly-Stein. We don’t put players in different eras, we compare across them. By that logic, TJ Leaf is a hall of famer because if he played in 1946 before the introduction of African-American players and an abundance of in-athletic, non-jump shooting white players he would’ve dominated.

What fantasy world are you living in where you can drop players into other eras and know exactly how they’d perform?

Superstars from the past had the skills to play in all eras. There fundamentals were set. Everything offensively would be better. There defense would be the only think that takes a hit. There game will improve greatly because training suppose to be so much better now and the rules make scoring easier. Plus they have youtube to look up players from previous eras. Also its pretty easy to know how some superstars would fair if you dropped them in a different era. If you took James Harden and threw him in the 60s. He would mentally fold like a lawn chair. He would have to get used to racist people calling him names. Players would try to fight him because scoring more than 30 alot was seen as showing off. He would get called for traveling every 2 seconds. And I'm pretty sure the coaches wouldnt put up with all the crap he does. And he would have to take them nice shoes off and throw on some chucks. He would get hard fouled. In which he wouldn't have to flop from that.

Lebron is properly ranked above all those old, irrelevant players. There’s a reason 2k doesn’t update retro, it doesn’t bring in the revenue of the modern game.

Lebron is properly rated in 2k as better than Drexler and others. That’s how this started and that’s how it should end.

There's no reason for anyone to get this heated, nor is it acceptable to insult other basketball players or fellow members. If you enjoy the era that someone else doesn't, that's fine, but what's not fine is disrespecting players/legends. I feel like both sides of the argument could've done better. I mean it started as a discussion of overalls and how Lebron is properly ranked ahead of Clyde Drexler and as usual it was hijacked but individuals needing to get the last word in despite t being “over”. I even attempted to get it back on track before it was once again taken off course.

Also if we could save the white knighting and patronizing to a minimum that would be great. Nobody here is a mod or above anyone else. Telling someone they can’t have a discussion, unless a mod agrees is just getting on a soapbox.The mods let the discussion continue and are free to shut it down. Use the report button if you feel you need to.

I stand by my earlier on topic conclusion that 2k correctly rated Lebron higher than Drexler.

It's not so much "white-knighting" as it is both of you being the better person, and putting everything to rest right there; not feeding into anything else. Both of you should've handled the situation better. Dee should've stopped after he first said goodbye, but at the same time, there was no need for your remarks like "those old, irrelevant players.", Remember, what era you prefer or who you like playing, does not equal the general consensus of what people want in a basketball game. I for one welcome the classic teams in every installment. If we go by revenue logic, 2K should just scrap the entirety of the NBA, and focus on the neighborhood/park aspect of the game.

Yeah and also someone should give a warning to those people that use an offensive language and insults, or can't take another's man opinion. Like a yellow card for misconduct and red card which means permanent banned for repeatedly bad behavior.

Alright, so I've split these posts off from the NBA 2K20 Screenshots topic because things did get a little sidetracked and heated to say the least, and I wanted to clean up that topic so that we could keep using it.

I do want to say that we usually do like to allow a bit of banter and back-and-forth in debates and conversations. We've found that if we get too strict, it makes people wary of posting lest they get a warning or ban, resulting in unenthusiastic and sterile conversations. On this occasion though, the banter did get a bit too heated and personal, which isn't what we want to see. Of course, when a point is made in a confrontational manner, it's going to result in some "spirited" push-back. The level of discourse is set by those initial posts, though at the same time, how we choose to respond to each other obviously also plays a role in how the conversation proceeds from there. This is a conversation that could've been more civil and split off to continue separately, but it definitely got off on the wrong foot and has since run its course.

What I would like to see is the same enthusiasm in the NBA section (where much of this discussion would be most welcome, albeit in a less confrontational manner), and discussion of the game itself. Again, a bit of banter is fine and passion is great, but please don't let it get this personal. We're capable of being much better than Twitter-level "debates" around here. So yeah, by all means bring the banter as you have debates and conversations about games, or the NBA in the off-topic section, but don't sully it with personal attacks. It's also best not to come in hot when there's a difference of opinion, because when the banter starts out at Level 100, it doesn't take much to escalate into a full blown flame war. Like I said, put that energy towards discussing the games themselves. And hey, if you want to talk about the real NBA, we've got a section for that as well.

Finally, I'd love it if we could be a community that avoids the whole "Old Heads vs. Dumb Kids" mentality that has infected message boards, social media, and comments sections, to the detriment of the level of discourse pretty much everywhere online these days. So much rhetoric flies around there, and it only adds to the bad blood that derails good conversations and acceptable banter. Once again, let's be better than that here.
