Buying NBA 2K20 after being banned in 2K19

Postby TheWhiteStig on Tue Jun 25, 2019 12:52 am

Last year i bought nba 2k19, and i had fun in the first 30 hour, but after that i got bored, then i decided to cheat because playing career at 60 overall isn't fun for me so i cheat and then got banned.
i'm thinking about buying nba 2k20, but my question is
if bought nba 2k20 should i use other steam account ?
if i buy it using my current account would i get banned again ?

I don't believe the ban automatically carries across from game to game, so you should be fine as long as you don't do anything to get banned in NBA 2K20.

kinda sounds sado-masochist, because you will probably get bored again
best move : buy the game on steam, if you're ban again ask for a refund

Or at the very least, stick to an offline save in MyCAREER and only mess around with it when you're not connected.

That's what I did while testing some stuff late in 2K18. Put the NBA 2K18 behind firewall rules that disallowed any communication. Turned out that even if you maxxed out all your skills to 99 the offline MyCareer only went to 98 OVR.

Interesting. As it is, the online/connected version of MyCAREER fudges Overall Ratings. If you duplicate your ratings in Create Player, you'll find the Overall is much lower.

From what I've seen the OVR seems like it literally depends on VC spent.

Had something like 1 bar for 2000 VC moved my OVR, but something else that moved my skills as much for 1500 VC didn't.

EDIT: Found something about it... Apparently it takes 320700 VC to get to 99 OVR (of course later on you get into problems with not having enough XP to get cap breakers).

Prices per level:
60 -> 61 ... 1000 VC
61 -> 62 ... 2000 VC
62 -> 70 ... 6000 VC
70 -> 99 ... 9300 VC

So it's 1000 + 2000 + 8*6000 + 29*9300 ... 320700 VC

How much money does all that VC cost? How much time would it take to make that much in-game?

Well, the 320700 would be fully covered by the 450000 VC pack which is 100 EUR.
Alternatively you could buy 200000 VC for 50 EUR, 75000 VC for 20 EUR, 35000 VC for 10 EUR and two 5000 VC packs for 2 EUR each. The 700 you'd easily cover in the prologue story.
So cheapest to cover 320000 VC is 84 EUR.

Now reality isn't so simple - after ~90-something OVR the VC stops being the problem and you need to earn xp (MyPoints) to unlock further character upgrades. These cannot be bought (last I checked).
You can instantly level up to only 85 OVR. That would set you back 190500 VC.

Overall people report it's like this - you have issues in the beginning. Once you get high enough you start having more than enough VC, but have to grind to be able to spend them (on skill upgrades).
Second character at that point is not hard to level up since you have enough VC.

Of course you also have extra stuff like the 100k special edition bonus, 20k twitch prime bonus, ...

Pretty much. Once you hit the higher levels, it's usually between 8000 and 10000 VC to get to the next level, depending on which attributes you unlock at the Cap Breaker, your Archetype, and so on. As you noted, the actual ratings that you're upgrading are irrelevant. As long as it adds up to the required amount of VC, you're moving up a level. Of course, some levels require more than one Cap Breaker to reach as well. Like you said in your other post, after a certain point it's the MyPOINTS that become more of a problem than VC, because you end up swimming in the latter. At one point I'd built up over 300,000 VC, which I used to buy some Michael Jordan boxes in MyTEAM.
