Official Patch Notes & Discussion (Latest Patch: 1.25)

Talk about NBA Live 19 here.

Re: Official Patch Notes & Discussion (Latest Patch: 1.14)

I played a couple of games on 1.14. it was noticably better, although CPU psychic interceptions we're still there. Step back ankle breakers still happened, although not every time which is a nice change. I'm actually getting open mid range shots now which is cool and I wound up taking a few but they all wound up being "guarded" no matter how open I am so I stopped taking them

PlayStation 4: November 21st, 2018
Xbox One: November 21st, 2018

GAMEPLAY TUNING

LIKENESS/CELEBRATIONS

  • NBA Players should now play celebrations we would expect them to perform.
ART & THE ONE STORE UPDATE

  • Nike City Edition Jerseys are now available in Play Now, Franchise & The League
  • Court Battles reward player update
ONLINE PLAY

  • Fixed a crash issue within online play
  • Notifying users, they are Host in Live Run
  • Adjusted reward tuning for XP regarding Live Run 3v3, 5v5, and world tour
  • Users can now choose to skip examining items when opening rewards (You can still optionally examine the items with X/Square)

Does anybody else notice that tip-ins almost never go in for human players/human AI teammates, but almost always go in for the AI opponents, regardless of the difficulty? There's one animation in particular (the one where they tip it in with one hand at the right or left side of their shoulder) that always misses for you and your teammates, and has a 100% chance of going in for the AI.

Balance in general could stand to be better. It feels like the AI is too adept at making contested shots, especially in the paint. Open shots are also automatic for them, and while they obviously are high percentage in real life as well, I don't believe they go in 90% of the time.

It's this way with Live and 2k. Open opponents make a ridiculously high % of their shots. Even those players who are poor shooters. Seems ratings don't matter for AI opponents.

Re: Official Patch Notes & Discussion (Latest Patch: 1.16)

Postby Andrew on Fri Dec 14, 2018 11:21 am

New patch is out.

NBA Live 19 Patch 1.16

Release Dates

PlayStation 4: December 13th, 2018
Xbox One: December 13th, 2018

Patch Notes

General Updates

  • 3v3 Score to Win set to 15 Points
  • Users with a Level 100 Created Player will now be able to start their second Created Player at Level 50
  • Earned Edition Jerseys added to 5v5 Game Modes
Gameplay:

  • Tuned momentum jump shots to still have Green releases available to players who should be able to shoot at higher percentages while moving forward or laterally in either direction. Green releases will not be available if these players are sprinting.
  • Tuned ball carrier fatigue to drain slower when a player is out of short term stamina and faster when short term stamina is full. This will help balance the rate that fatigue is applied and not over-penalizing a player who is already drained.
  • Tuned variables that impact shot percentages for shots around the rim. Inside Shots and Layups will now better-factor openness vs. being contested. More open shots by players capable of finishing will go in and shots that should have been impacted by defense will result in misses.
Audio:

  • New Speech: Commentary reactions to Ankle breakers to add some additional excitement to NBA / WNBA broadcast.
  • Banter logic improvements (e.g., Jimmy Butler no longer being referenced as though he’s still on the Timberwolves)
Presentation:

  • Bug fixes for cameras where the players would be off-screen during an inbound after a violation.
  • Bug fixes for Crowd not reacting appropriately at the end of timed pro-am games.
Court Battles

Restructured Reward Tiers in Court Battles for owned courts and added a 4th Tier.

  • Tier 1: Own 2 Courts
  • Tier 2: Reduced from Owning 5 Courts to 4 Courts
  • Tier 3: Reduced from Owning 10 Courts to 7 Courts
  • Tier 4: Own 12 Courts
Added all Court Rules to The One Store to purchase for 100 RP Each.

Rosters have also been updated (further details here).

It's pretty cool to see them update the long winded team/player speech so you don't hear about players that have left the team. They solved that problem with a relatively easy fix

Agreed, it's a good move. Irrelevant commentary has long been a problem when a blockbuster trade moves stars between teams.

Re: Official Patch Notes & Discussion (Latest Patch: 1.17)

Postby Andrew on Sun Dec 16, 2018 6:15 pm

Patch 1.17 was released on the heels of Patch 1.16. There aren't any release notes as yet, so for now it seems a safe bet that it's a hotfix for minor issues caused by the previous update. I'll post further information if it's made available.

There will also be another patch coming soon to fix bugs caused by the last two patches for example points not counting from shots made before the buzzer

While it's frustrating, it's better than the old days where we'd get one or two patches at best, and we were stuck with whatever issues were caused by the final update (NBA Live 10 is still my go to example here). At least we don't have to wait too long for the next patch or hotfixes.

And when will the patch be released that fixes what the next patch messes up?

Hopefully it won't introduce any new technical issues - not all of the patches this year have had them - but they have been quick on the hotfixes this year compared to previous years.

After a long break from the game I had picked it up again recently. I gotta say the shot animations are way smoother and more responsive. Also they patched in the short shot clock reset on offensive rebounds. Overall the game does feel better especially with CPU interceptions turned down a little. I don't really have any major issues with gameplay other than endgame logic for AI and how open shots still don't go in even though you hit the top of the meter or super late or non-contests show up as shot contests

BTW, I was just thinking has anyone ever hit a nutmeg on a defender? I remember seeing that in a trailer video and I haven't actually seen that in-game yet. random thought.

What game mode are you referring too with late game logic? I've had a problem with it in franchise mode with Stamina meaning il have to play my entire bench to give the starters plenty of rest going into the 4th I guarantee that my five on the court down the stretch stamina rating is down to anything between 70-55 and in a lot of cases I can't make free throws because there that fatigued there isn't any green releases available when shooting so even if you time it perfectly it still results in a miss.

In close games the logic is off too because it can be a 1 point game with 30 seconds left and the cpu doesn't foul on the inbounds they sometimes even allow you a lane to the basket for an easy two, if the game is a blowout for the cpu like a quick game I did the other day (Nets(me) Vs Celtics) they were up 20 with 6-8 minutes left but they played the starters the entire 4th running up the score. Fatigue also didn't seem to be an issue for them either

Patch 1.18 is now available. No official patch notes as yet, but based on this Tweet, it looks like the primary purpose of the update was adding more courts to 3v3 LIVE Run.

A couple of additional notes have been revealed!

  • City Edition Courts added to Play Now, Franchise, & The League
  • New Feature: In-Game Injuries.

Two great additions, there. Further steps in the right direction.

Man, I've been hounding them for alternate courts all season, but in-game injuries is a huge surprise! Much like the roster editing feature added mid season last year

As long as it all sticks around and gets even better in NBA Live 20, the game's continuing down a good path. I'm liking this attention to the NBA side of things.
