It's quite a tight race between the contenders.

Both conferences are looking pretty similar to the real life western conference at the moment. It's interesting to see how the off-season moves are panning out.

- Harden has turned the Knicks into a contender and is rightly one of the MVP favourites.

- Klay Thompson has helped the Bulls stay on track for another crack at the championship.

- Boogie is helping the Greek Freak keep the Bucks in touch with the eastern leaders.

- Obviously Jokic has been a big upgrade over Alex Len and we're looking stronger this season. (Shout-out to Len btw for helping the Hawks into a playoff spot when they were supposed to be the worst team in the league)

- The Warriors are still a strong contender even without Klay. Apparently three all-stars is enough

- LeBron and Kawhi surprisingly only have the Lakers in the sixth seed currently. That will probably improve though by the end of the season.

- Utah are garbage for some reason, despite having both Donovan Mitchell and Gordon Hayward in this game.

- Portland are once again showing strong regular season form. But will they collapse in the playoffs again? Zion Williamson could be the difference this time.

Hornets trade Michael Kidd-Gilchrist to Rockets

Image

The Charlotte Hornets have today traded former number two overall pick Michael Kidd-Gilchrist to the Houston Rockets. Marvin Williams and Gerald Henderson also join the Rockets.

In return Charlotte received Ryan Anderson, Louis Williams and Trevor Ariza.

This is a surprising trade because both teams are struggling this season with identical 9-25 records. But this move seems to suggest that the Hornets want to make a late push for the playoffs, despite currently sitting nine games behind the eighth-seeded Pacers.

Or maybe they just decided that they didn't want to give Kidd-Gilchrist a large contract at the end of the season and traded him for something of value now.

The Rockets on the other hand seem to be resigned to the fact that they will be competing for the top pick in the draft lottery late in the year.

Right now they are only one of two teams with room to sign two max-level free agents next off-season. Memphis are the other team.

It's a great position to be in with a free agent class that could potentially include Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving, Kawhi Leonard, DeMar DeRozan, Kevin Love, Andre Drummond, Mike Conley, Al Horford and Hassan Whiteside.

Interesting. Is that one you made, or was it the CPU?

That was me. It probably would make more sense if the Hornets were closer to the playoffs. But both teams are bottom 3 in the league right now

I guess the main difference the trade makes is that Houston may now be paying MKG a big contract, instead of Charlotte (who already have Nicolas Batum at SF, earning $30+ million next year).

There will probably be a couple more deals done before the trade deadline. With some teams eyeing off the playoffs and others preparing for the upcoming off-season.

We basically trailed by 5-10 points all night. But then we got some stops early in the fourth quarter, which helped us go on a 16-4 run.

Booker shot 4-13 in the first half for 13 points. He then exploded for 24 points in the second half on 9-12 shooting.

A good example of why you should never give up, just because you're down early. A lot of random online teammates could learn from that!

Louisville acquire center Hernangomez from Knicks

Image

The resurgent New York Knicks today traded Willy Hernangomez and Ben McLemore to the Louisville Lions in exchange for the expiring contracts of Shabazz Muhammad and Stephen Zimmerman.

Two future second round picks also head to the Knicks in the deal.

Currently holding the second seed in the Eastern conference, the Knicks have decided to move on the Spaniard in favour of giving young prospect Robert Williams the starting role at center.

Williams has combined with star big man Kristaps Porzingis very well this season off the bench. Hernangomez's expiring contract also probably played a part in this move.

The Knicks have been the surprise package of this season thanks to the elite play of superstar recruit James Harden. They have a good 26-12 record, with Harden averaging 26 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 2 steals per game.

He is one of the favourites to win the MVP award alongside Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant and Ben Simmons.

Louisville were keen to add a relatively young and solid center as an upgrade over veteran Timothy Mozgov. Hernangomez will partner Noah Vonleh and Kelly Oubre Jr in their frontcourt.

The Lions appear to be headed for another trip to the lottery and are in thirteenth place right now with a 12-24 record.

Things should improve in the future though with their core of Luka Doncic, Lonzo Ball, Noah Vonleh, Kelly Oubre Jr, Willy Hernangomez, Dzanan Musa and Pascal Siakam all being 25 or younger.

It really sucks.

Apparently because I used downloaded custom teams, I need access to the server in order to load the game. But now the server is gone. So, yeah.

Why can you not save custom team files offline like you can with draft classes and rosters?

It is very frustrating. I was really enjoying playing with this team. Plus I was only a few weeks away from finally getting Booker into the all-star game

I suppose I'll look at getting 2k19 at some point. The idea of doing a new OKC game with Russ and PG13 is kind of appealing to me. It's been a while since I've played as them.

I've been enjoying NBA 2K19 after feeling let down by NBA 2K18. Looking forward to getting back to MyLEAGUE now that I've sufficiently levelled up my player for the online modes.

Dude! That sucks! Same thing happened to me when I tried to load up my SWISH save file a couple months back. Was considering picking up where I left off on a save file I'd played 7 or 8 seasons on only to find that all my 2K17 saves were now inaccessible. (N)

I understand getting rid of online play and even 2K Share after a couple years, shitty as it is, but save files as well?! Horse shit. I really wish Live were a viable alternative because 2K's anti-consumer policies continue to surprise me in the worst way possible.

If this is the end here, congratulations on yet another very nice story. The only parallel universe where the Phoenix Suns can win a championship

I'm interested to see what they have added to MyLeague over the past two years.

Thanks man. I really enjoyed it.

Winning a title with Alex Len and Dragan Bender as my starting frontcourt was a bigger accomplishment than winning 5 in a row with OKC all those years ago :P

I can't remember seeing any kind of warning that you needed online access to use downloaded custom teams. Obviously I wouldn't have bothered with them if I knew it would ruin the game.

Hopefully it's something they fix in the future.

Okay, I guess this is officially done now. Thanks to everyone who followed along. It's a shame it had to end this way.

I ordered 2k19 today and I'm leaning towards doing an OKC game. But I'm open to suggestions.

The three main options I'm considering are:

Title chasing with OKC: Established big 3 of Westbrook, George & Adams. With a focus on draft picks and signing vets to improve the team.
Reboot with Phoenix: Build around Booker & Ayton. Decent cap room to use. Try to make Dragan Bender a competent NBA player.
Full rebuild in Atlanta: Build around Trae Young & John Collins. Potentially massive cap room to work with. Probably some more high draft picks as well.

Sad to see this one go. One of my favorite stories. I'm glad to see you continuing on to another one though. I saw that you prefer OKC, and out of those options, I think it would be the most interesting in my opinion as well. While ATL is my favorite team, man, I dislike their choices and feel it is such a rough rebuild that 2K made easy (by making Trae Young Steph Curry 2.0). The Suns are in such a different spot also with Ayton being a beast rookie that is overshadowed only by Don Luka. So yeah, making a dominant OKC franchise with all the hoopla around Rus right now would be most interesting out of those 3.

Though if you considered an alternative to the full rebuild, I think the Kings are the most interesting rebuild case in the NBA right now. While I don't believe Fox is a star, he is a beyond capable starter with a fast pace offense which the Kings are utilizing from the games I've seen. Then added their history, it could make an interesting story. Again though, from how this team is, they are further out due to not having a Devin Booker who has a much higher ceiling in my opinion. Nonetheless, whatever you do, I will definitely be following.
