Professional Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH, etc)

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

Oh, I think they're spreading out between Raw and Smackdown. Heavy Machinery is confirmed to go to Smackdown earlier. Hope Nikki Cross comes along to complete Sanity.

Mustafa Ali is elevated up to the Smackdown roster from 205 Live and pins Bryan in a tag team match after a reverse 450 splash, hitting Bryan in the face with one of his knees.

Is it just me, or is the writing just way better on smackdown? Both shows promised new faces, fresh starts, etc but raw was the same old stuff while we saw Mustafa Ali finish the show with a win (and a "sorry") and finally an appearance from the good brothers and sanity got to show their faces.

It was cool to see Ali make it out of 205 as it seems that's where all the little guys go for their careers to stagnate or die
I guess lucha house party made it out kind of but not officially

It's not just you. I think if nothing else, being a shorter show forces the writing to be tighter. If you go back to the Monday Night Wars, even when WCW was winning the ratings battle, Nitro's writing was often a mess because it was a longer show and there were rewrites happening right up until broadcast (and then sometimes, during). In other words, exactly what's happening with RAW at the moment. It's funny; WWE likes to rip on WCW, and since they won the war I suppose they get to write history, but they're actually repeating a lot of the mistakes that led to WCW's downfall. They're just fortunate that they don't have any kind of serious competition (in terms of size and financial success, that is) to put them out of business.

writing just way better on smackdown

WWE do consider Raw their A-show so the writers there probably have their bosses watching over their backs moreso than the writers at Smackdown who don't have to deal with too much shit every week like the Raw writers do.

Asuka merchandise apparently selling well, especially the mask, that's why Vince gave the approval to make her a champion.

That too. It sounds like RAW is micromanaged to a much greater degree, again to the point of messiness.

Amazing. Attitude Era or even peak ECW got nothing on that.

Apparently people are disgusted by this. I don't see a problem, I mean it still makes more sense than whatever the hell Joey Ryan does with his penis

It upsets the purists, because it isn't as noble as slicing your forehead open with a razor for $50 a night in the supposed golden age of professional wrestling, I guess.

Been reading some of the reactions to that spot and only now do I realise that Mr. Socko when not in use provides as a piece of clothing for Mankind's third leg.

I'd never thought about it in that context either.

Women's Tag Team Championships revealed on Raw (also: hot damn, Alexa!):

Glad they went with a totally different design. These belts also look way better than the WWE and Universal Championships.

EDIT: Braun pulled out of his championship match at the Rumble, apparently he's not cleared yet so they wrote him off. Balor won the Fatal 4-Way match and will replace Braun as Brock's opponent.

My god they are all in love with Alexa. Even then, it was still a sleazy segment with the dude walking in on here. Completely unnecessary and reminds me of the old days

I had a feeling they were going to have balor win, but I was still kinda surprised they actually did it. I can't believe it's been years since he's given up the title only to never have a chance to get it back.

If they wanted to be bold and really usher in a new era, they'd have Finn go over at the Rumble. I'd be shocked if they dared to follow through on that, though.

My guess is that Finn loses and Braun wins the Rumble so they'd still have big sweaty men at WrestleMania.

It depends on when they expect Braun to be cleared. Unfortunately, I think they've missed the boat on him.

I would imagine they're doing Brock vs Seth at Mania since Roman is out of the picture. Don't be surprised if Seth wins at the Rumble. It might explain the ending of Seth in the IC picture with Bobby winning? They still don't seem 1000% sold on Braun

It's their own fault, too. They were reluctant to pull the trigger because they were determined to do Brock vs Reigns and eventually crown Reigns (ultimately mishandling that as well), and they missed their chance to capitalise on Braun when he was one of the most over characters in the company.

Indeed. He was due for that title in 2017.

Vince supposedly likes the antics of Lashley and Lio Rush (similar to Vince being entertained by The New Day) that's why Bobby got made as a champ.

If it gives them something to do in the midcard and allows Rollins to slide back to the main event, it's worth it.

Andrade "Cien" Almas is the newest wrestler to lose his last name, now just billed as "Andrade" -- which is his actual, real-life last name.
