bongo88 wrote:sure, that seems like a fair jazz rating.... maybe if you can put them to #1 they do have Joe ingles
Anyways, i'm mostly testing out the coach grades. I think that putting the teams in Tier 1, tier 2, tier 3, and then having a coach grade for each tier might make a good roster.
Inbetween your edits, alby's edits, prax edits, vannwolfhawks edits.... the player ratings and tendencies are really set very good.
Now, how would i put the nba in tiers? not really sure. but we can try this
https://old.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/9 ... _hopefuls/
actually, zach lowe had a good tier ranking:
Tier 1 Coach Grade: A- --- A+
Golden State Warriors
Tier 2 Coach Grade: B+ --- A
Boston Celtics
Houston Rockets
Tier 2.5 Coach Grade: B --- A-
Toronto Raptors
Tier 3 Coach Grade: B- --- B+
Utah Jazz
Milwaukee Bucks
Oklahoma City Thunder
Philadelphia 76ers
Denver Nuggets
Minnesota Timberwolves (in an alternate reality where everything isn't always ruined there)
Tier 3.5 Coach Grade: C+ ---- B
Los Angeles Lakers
Indiana Pacers
Washington Wizards
Miami Heat (with Jimmy Butler - team does not currently exist)
Tier 4 Coach Grade: C --- B-
San Antonio Spurs
New Orleans Pelicans
Portland Trail Blazers
Miami Heat (without Jimmy Butler)
Detroit Pistons
Charlotte Hornets
Brooklyn Nets
Tier 4.5 Coach Grade: C- --- C+
Dallas Mavericks
Memphis Grizzlies
LA Clippers
Minnesota* (without Jimmy Butler)
Tier 5 Coach Grade: D+ --- C
Cleveland Cavaliers
Phoenix Suns
Sacramento Kings
New York Knicks
Chicago Bulls
Orlando Magic
Atlanta Hawks
I haven't tried any of these tiers ..... this is all theoretical. just for discussion. More wondering a general baseline coach grade for each Tier. some outliers will exist ... like Jazz/76ers might have A Defense .... and thunder might have A- Offense. But the boosted teams (jazz defense / thunder offense) will not be far boosted from the tier guide.
Anywayas, if i have time, i test out the tier grades. Of course, it can be argued that some teams need to move up/down a tier. Or that the rockets, warriors, celtics all should be tier 1 ( A- to A+ coach grades) and that would change the tiers as well. this just for discussion about coach grades.
different Tier list
Tier 1 Coach Grade: A- --- A+
Golden State Warriors
Boston Celtics
Houston Rockets
Tier 2 Coach Grade: B+ --- A
Toronto Raptors
Utah Jazz
Milwaukee Bucks
Oklahoma City Thunder
Philadelphia 76ers
Denver Nuggets
Minnesota Timberwolves (in an alternate reality where everything isn't always ruined there)
Tier 2.5 Coach Grade: B --- A-
Los Angeles Lakers
Indiana Pacers
Washington Wizards
Miami Heat (with Jimmy Butler - team does not currently exist)
Tier 3 Coach Grade: B- --- B+
San Antonio Spurs
New Orleans Pelicans
Portland Trail Blazers
Miami Heat (without Jimmy Butler)
Detroit Pistons
Charlotte Hornets
Brooklyn Nets
Tier 3.5 Coach Grade: C+ ---- B
Dallas Mavericks
Memphis Grizzlies
LA Clippers
Minnesota* (without Jimmy Butler)
Tier 4 Coach Grade: C --- B-
Cleveland Cavaliers
Phoenix Suns
Sacramento Kings
New York Knicks
Chicago Bulls
Orlando Magic
Atlanta Hawks
Tier 4.5 Coach Grade: C- --- C+
Tier 5 Coach Grade: D+ --- C
Or maybe the tiers need different grades .... anyways, i think i like the second list better. i might try that out.

alot of Alby's Roster is based on vannwolfhawks tendency edits/blogs/plays. I believe that alby integrated most of vannwolfhawks suggestions.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0h-vo ... 7MQ/videos
https://forums.operationsports.com/vannwolfhawk/
The little project i'm working on ---utah jazz rant haha ---
Being a Jazz fan that watched most of their games last season.....The only problem that i have with all these rosters is they severly underrate the utah jazz. I believe the default alby roster had jazz 30th in offense and 3rd in defense.
watching the jazz most last season, i personally felt that they were middle of the pack offense and easily first in defense. end of season stats showed that my insticts (jazz offense/defense ... relative to the rest of nba league) was correct:
https://stats.nba.com/teams/advanced/?s ... r%20Season
anyways, if you sort by offenseive rating and deffensive rating .... jazz offense is 16 and 1st in defense. obviously there is so much more to a basketball game, but all the rosters i have tried severely punish the jazz.
Anyways, I can see the difficulty of rating the jazz in the 2k universe. I've had trouble really settling on good jazz team ratings. Because of the length of gobert and favors.... with joe ingles being one of the best 3point shooters in the nba.... and mitchel being a volume shooter.... you can make gobert and favors good defenders ... you can make ingles a good 3point shooter ..... you can give mitchell a 90percent touch tendancy to make him a volume shooter ..... and they break the game. it's too many outliers on one team.
seriously, try rating ingles properly and he alone breaks the game (https://www.sportingnews.com/au/nba/new ... tcfbo9uid8) then add gobert and favors in the middle with mitchell on the outside, and like i said, too many outliers on one team for the 2kbasketball universe to try to balance.
if you rate the jazz 1st in defense (which they most definitly are in the nba) and 16th in offense..... in a simulated season the Jazz stomp all opponents easily due to how 2ksports value length and height. so, in order to obtain Realistic Nba results (team wins, opponent shooting percentage, etc etc ) you have to nerf the jazz offense into oblivion..... to give the opposing teams a level playing field. otherwise the jazz players break the game.
I mean, last season the jazz started out 16 - 24 and then the 2nd half of the season they went 32 - 10. the problem wasn't they were winning, it was they were usually winning by 15 - 30 points in the second half of the season.
https://www.basketball-reference.com/te ... /2018.html
if you look at the bar chart in the middle of the page .... there were very few wins that were close (during the second half of season against the "bad" nba teams).
Anyways, as a jazz fan, i've been trying to adjust the utah ratings where they can blow out the bad teams in the nba, but stay close to the good teams. It has been a challenging project haven't reached anything conclusive yet.
Oh, one thing i've noticed.... at the roster editor.... if you go to the coaches tab (where it shows GM ratings and coaches ratings) The coaches have Ratings and Badges. Those Ratings and Badges directly influence how the team plays and the team ratings and stuff. I think it is not a good system. I've tried putting all coaches to bad ratings, took away all badges, put coaches to all A+ ratings..... haven't found a balance. But the coaches ratings/badges directly influence the players actions. It is not a good thing because there is not much documentation about how the coaches stuff influence the player stuff. because with the complexity of player ratings and tendecies and badges, then you throw unkown coaching values on top of all that which change the roster..... it is very bad. I havent seen anyone here or on OperationSports mention how the coaches change the players on-court playing..... Hell, i just noticed it last week and I've been fiddling with rosters since 2k18 launched.
You can test the coach stuff..... take a bad team like the Suns, put a few badges on the coach and put the coach ratings to A+ .... then, all of the sudden, the bad suns players (bad ratings, bad tendencies, etc) are playing like All Stars. It's an unkown factor that you should look into. since you seem to have a grasp about roster stuffs. Just letting you know.
One last tip: intangibles attribute .... that attribute is actually very important. Again, you can test this with the Suns. Change nothing, but put the intangibles all to 99 for the whole team and they will start playing like All Starts. There's alot going on behind the scenes with that 1 attribute (intangibles). So using Alby as a base, one you get all ratings correct (mid range, layup, etc) then get all tendencies correct (touches, drives, etc).... then there are the unkowns between coach badge/ratings and intangibles that effect some stuff in the backround just on those 2 things. Just so you know.
Anyways, enjoying the roster. i'll let you know if i find a balance for the jazz. I doubt i can make the jazz acceptable due to the rules and limitation of the 2kbasketball universe. Alby's roster should be a great base for the next season.... just need some playbook and touches adjustments for lakers with Lebron.
Oh, Alby has sliders that he recommends to use with his roster. They are under his name, the sliders, username: Bad Desire. You could download his Sliders that correspond with his roster. Not sure i mentioned that, but it would be good to put in your roster posts/blogposts if you are using his base roster. download his gameplay sliders from the sliders download option
EDIT: writing this post about the Jazz/mitchell reminded me of this play. https://streamable.com/dvgvy ... (reddit thread source). Jazz up by 20 againt the pistons ... no offense, kicks it out to mitchell. That's pretty much how the 2nd half went with the jazz... up by 10, 15, 20 against the "bad" nba teams. Amazing thing is Mitchell catches the ball with 0.6 seconds and shot is of at like 0.4 seconds. Anyways, the jazz did this many times last year... play breaks, throw it to mitchell/ingles for the offense. problem is, 2k18 does this as well.... just gotta make mitchell less effecient, maybe. dunno.
Edit2: complete sidenote... look at blake griffen on that play... after gobert passes it, he looks from gobert to mitchell to gobert, like, you crazy gobert. funnything is, jazz did that so much with mitchell and ingles, we pretty just expect them to make something happen.

Do you plan on updating the roster weekly? or every two weeks?
Anyways, thanks for your work. Hope you don't get burned out too quick.

Darth-Skinett wrote:I'm cleaning up a few things...
1- I finally found Ding Yanyuhang's CF so I added it to the v5 Rosters
2- Created Theo Pinson and added him to the Brooklyn Nets
3- I have been updating some of the Players Shoes and Accessories (Joel Embiid now wears Under Armor for example)
4- Added the contract extension to Karl Anthony Towns (Minn) but it is not accurate since Trainer only has 5 years not 6 so I can keep his current salary for 18/19.
5- Updated Brooklyn, New York, Minnesota, Lakers, Suns and Dallas Player Rotations
6- Version 5 will be the last update of the CF & Portrait Packs.
Future releases will have a MINI PACK if necessary to reduce the Download Size of the Roster Updates
7- Starting to adjust some Player Ratings based on performance in 18/19 Season
8- Assigned temporary CF# 4166 to Thomas Bryant (Wash) because he has J.Bolden's CF (76ers)
If anyone has his actual CF please let me know.
Going to review the Free Agent List (for example, Chris Bosh, created & retired Players)
Keep, Reduce Rating (ex. Retired) or Remove?

Well, i enjoy these rosters. Very glad you took the time to update them.
It seems (based off reddit, operationsports, nlsc, spanish forums, chinese forums) that folks are trying to decide if they enjoy 2k19 or 2k18 more. there are improvements to 2k19, but the stonewall defense may or may not retain players.
Anyways, i'm enjoying the roster.
Lots of good updates that you have worked on.
I wouldn't bother with the free agent list / Chris Bosh stuff. Unless is really really really bugs you haha. Just doesn't seem like very important relative to the trouble it might be checking real free agents, etc etc Chris Bosh i personally like having as a free agent, but i'm just nostalgic haha
I also wouldn't bother updating player ratings at this moment. i would probably wait until Jan/Feb to look at stats and make ratings adjustments. There are lots and lots of role players that have moved teams, and most teams are trying to execute their offense/defense schemes and work all the new players into those schemes. Like Lakers currently trying to properly utilize rondo, lonzo, ingram, and kuzma into the rotation. A big headache that won't work until later in the season (if it works at all, i have my doubts, lol ). Anyways, personally, i would just wait until jan/feb to adjust the ratings.
One thing about player ratings, I would keep an eye on the rookies. Some of the rookies are absolutely good players (donic, ayton, a few others i can't remember). If you can keep an eye on the rookies and maybe update their stats and tendancies, that would be great. Maybe have a rookie update in the middle of December, or so. Enough time to watch them play for the next month and half and then update their tendancies and stats.
2k really doesn't do a good job updating rookies.
speeking of young players..... godamn Fultz, poor kid. Soon ima have to put his 3 point shooting to -100
The rookies would be the only player stats i would update soon. For general players, like i said, maybe jan/feb for updated stats and tendencies.
I don't know how to update coaches stuff. I know that Ksmiz found them in cheat engine for 2k19..... maybe if you can contact him he can tell you the header. I might get around to it later, but i usually forget.
Last thing,
I haven't dug to deep into the lakers stuff that you got set. But with Lebron on their team, the lakers playbook might needs to be overhauled. You might have allready done the lakers tendancies/ and plays. Again, haven't had much time to play, but the lakers gonna need to be watched about how they integrate Lebron.
Anyways, those really the only feedback i got. I like the roster where it is at right now V4 .... and V5 sounds like a good roster update. Other than watching Lebron/lakers and the rookies in a possible mid - december update. The other players in the league stats would be ideal for a jan/feb update.
Of course, butler just got traded to 76ers, but the 2k18 framework is so complete, that i don't think 76ers need much tweaking. Butler should fit well with them in the gameplay.
I am tweaking sliders.... will post stuff here when i find a good balance with using your roster.
Roster is in a good place with v4. Looks like a good update for v5 , then maybe a break while we wait for the season to develop. (other than the rookies. some of the rookies are very, very good players.)
Thanks for your work. When i begin adjusting ratings/tendanceis, i usually mess the player all up, lol. You have a good feel for roster adjustments.
Have a good day.

Yeah the Carmelo thing is wierd.
We all know Carmelo thrives on mid range and ISO...so not sure how Houston's Front Office figured he would fit in since they live and die by the 3.
