I think it's a better approach to have it on default, as people tend to go looking for ways to turn stuff off, but not necessarily to enable features. Just one of those weird things, so it's better to present that stuff up front and allow people to shut it off if they don't want it.

I assume that's just in the same option to turn off shot meter?
