Also helps that Mark Price is struggling to shoot the ball on top of having chemistry issues ugggghhhh. AI's been playing pretty great for Philly but had a lower back bruise after scoring 20 points in b2b games oof.

Kobe taking 24 shots on debut just feels right somehow. He'll get his 81 quicker in this timeline.

Is it bad that I've only heard of 3 players on your team?

MON Mark Price out for 1 to 2 weeks with Lower Back Bruise

Price left the ORL-MON game last night in the 3rd quarter and never came back. According to the team’s doctors, Price suffered a lower back bruise and is expected to be sidelined for 1 to 2 weeks.

In the meantime, the Hyenas appointed Elliott Perry as their new starting PG.

GM Corner

Mark Price is still struggling 3 weeks into the season. Played very underwhelming a lot of times. Often shooting below 45% but he does facilitate our offense on the floor. He needs to step it up. Right now, he’s not worth what we are paying him. He has the biggest contract in this team but not close to being the best player.

Derrick McKey is still up and down. Some nights he nets you 2 to 3 three-pointers, next game he gets you nothing. He still plays his heart out on defense if he’s having a bad game. Gets crucial offensive rebounds.

@ NY (98-125) L

Starks, Ewing, and Davis combine for 93 pts to neuter Hyenas

Image

The New York Knicks’ John Starks scored 33 pts against the Hyenas tonight and led the team in points. Next to him is Patrick Ewing and Hubert Davis who both scored 30 points. Besides scoring 30, Ewing also pulled down 17 rebounds, 5 of those were offensive rebounds.

Image

In the Hyenas’ side of things, they’re not feeling too good about themselves. Rookie Kobe Bryant led the team in points with 29. The next closest to him is Radja who had 12 points in total, tied with McKey and Bullard. Bryant did not just score, he grabbed 10 rebounds and 12 assists - which is officially the first triple-double in Montreal’s franchise. Kobe also stole the ball 5 times but turned it over 5 times as well. He taketh but he also giveth.

Notable Performances

MON:
K. Bryant (29 pts, 10 rebs, 12 asts, 5 stls, 5 TOs)
E. Montross (4 pts, 2-12 FG)
D. Ellis (2 pts, 1-7 FG)

NYK:

Yeah Grandmama got a big contract from the Hornets (a ten year deal if I'm not mistaken, as it predated the CBA that reduced the maximum length to seven at the time), but ended up getting traded a year after Alonzo Mourning was dealt to the Heat for Glen Rice.

@ PHX (114-118)

Hyenas fall to BARKley’s 50-20 game

Image

Barkley scored 53 points and grabbed 22 rebounds against the Hyenas. He also stole, blocked, and assisted twice tonight. Kevin Johnson got his career-high in assists with 16 while simultaneously scoring 29 points. A.C. Green, who played for 45 minutes, had 24 points and 17 rebounds. The Suns’ unsung hero comes in the name of Hot Rod Williams, the 36-year-old veteran. Hot Rod pulled down 15 rebounds, 5 being offensive. He did score 1 point too.

Image

Kobe Bryant of the Hyenas scored 39 points, 20 more points than the closest – Derrick McKey. Bryant and McKey were both McKeys to the Hyenas’ late 4th quarter run to get the game to OT. Both of them scored Montreal’s last 28 points. It seemed like Montreal had Phoenix on the ropes on this one but a perfectly-timed cross-court pass from Barkley to Johnson for a wild three sent the game to OT.

Even though the Suns had the older players on the team, they never showed signs of exhaustion unlike the Hyenas. Phoenix ended up winning the game with 63 rebounds compared to Montreal’s 37, a 26-rebound deficit. It seemed like nobody ever had the energy to get up on those rebounds.

MON:
K. Bryant (39 pts, 6 rebs, 4 asts)
D. McKey (19 pts, 5-6 3PT)
M. Price (22 pts, 11 asts, 4-4 3PT)

PHX:
C. Barkley (55 pts, 22 rebs, 2 asts, 2 stls, 2 blks)
K. Johnson (29 pts, 16 asts)
A.C. Green (24 pts, 17 rebs)
H. Williams (1 pt, 15 rebs)

Elliott Perry and Willie Anderson to miss time with injuries

Montreal’s Elliott Perry is expected to miss 2 to 3 days with a broken finger while Willie Anderson will miss 2 to 3 weeks with a sprained left toe.

This news came right after Mark Price came back from his 2-week injury. Seems like Montreal is catching an early injury bug.

GM Corner

We've lost 3 in our last 5 games, having your starters and key bench players injured sucks, we can't build any momentum for winning streaks with this. One great news we got is that Mark Price is now 100% healthy and is finally contributing to the team. He's been on fire lately, hitting a great percentage of his shots from deep and leads the team's offense on the floor. I hope he can keep this up until we get Anderson and Perry back, we have to aim for that 6 to 8 seed and he'll be a key piece for that run.

Hyenas pull off 3OT win versus Warriors

In a 3OT thriller, the Hyenas managed to upset the Warriors at home. Bryant’s statline impressed a lot of people. The rook had 46 pts, pulled down 14 boards, dished it 11 times, and stole the rock 8 times in 48 minutes.
Mark Price finally found his footing with a 30 point – 10 assist line while shooting 9/13 on the field.

For the Warriors, it was Sprewell and Hardaway who did most of the scoring load. Sprewell had 41 pts, 8 rebs, 8 asts, and 8 stls while Hardaway scored 38 pts and a career-high 19 assists.

With Montreal having foul trouble, Golden State had no problems scoring in the paint where they scored 63 points compared to Montreal’s 38. However, the Hyenas battled back on offensive rebounds, pulling down 27 ORs – 15 more than the Warriors.

MON:
K. Bryant (46 pts, 14 rebs, 11 asts, 8 stls, 6 TOs)
M. price (30 pts, 11 asts, 2 stls)
D. Ellis (17 pts, 6-11 FG)

Jordan and Bryant go head-to-head in 2OT thriller

The game started off with both squads scoring 35 points in the 1st quarter alone, followed by a 38-point 2nd quarter by both teams again. It seemed like nobody was able to get a decent lead. In the 3rd quarter, the Bulls got a slim chance to make a run and they took it and didn’t stop until the 4th quarter where they got outscored by 17 points as the Hyenas came back to tie the game with 3.1s remaining. It looked like Pippen was going to hit the shot that would finally put the game away but he missed badly which led the game to the first OT.

In both OTs, it was a minigame of runs. The Bulls would go on to score for 2 minutes straight and the next thing you know, the Hyenas are the one taming the Bulls for 2 minutes straight; The last remaining minute is basically anyone’s game.

Image

Montreal finally got the W after a turnover by Bulls guard, Mookie Blaylock, which led to a transition opportunity for Robert Parish.

Bryant led the Hyenas in scoring with 36 points but the real star of the night was Dino Radja who scored 29 points and pulled down 19 boards total. Even though it was fun seeing Bryant and Jordan duke it out with their iso plays, it was the role players who did the most heavy-lifting.

Jordan had 27 points and 5 steals on the night while Blaylock and Kerr combined for 25 assists.

MON:
K. Bryant (36 pts, 4 asts, 7 TOs)
D. Radja (29 pts, 19 rebs, 4 asts, 11 Orebs)

Mark Price gets wish fulfilled, gets sent to Sonics

After underperforming for 30 games into the season, it seems like Mark Price has had enough. The 28-year-old star have been pestering the Hyenas front office for a trade for weeks now, inciting that it’s the coach’s fault he’s playing badly and losing minutes.

Even though Price was averaging a career-high in points per game (19.9) and 3PT% (50%), he still was unhappy about the way the coaching staff treated him. These things became obvious in the 4th quarter. The Hyenas’ backup point guard, Elliott Perry, acts as the squad’s spark/ hype man/ leader in close games while Price sits on the bench.

In the trade, the Hyenas will send Mark Price to the SuperSonics for a guy who hasn’t played a game in the NBA, a 2000 2nd round pick, and a 1997 1st round pick.
