Lmao fuck that guy. He's a Jeremy Lin hater.

Sounds like they will waive him and he will sign with Houston.

So looks like the Hawks basically used the trade to cut ties with Schroeder. It was curious that they loaded up at PG with Lin and Young

LOL @ Houston for wanting to add Carmelo Anthony. Durant will drop 50 on him.

So someone explain to me why Sam Presti is considered a genius? He didn't want to pay Harden, but look at the money he's wasted since - am I missing something?

Presti hasn't been the same since he fucked up the Harden situation.

Perhaps he's learned he needs to spend the money (and/or has been given free reign to), and he does have a bigger cap to work with now. The problem is who he's choosing to spend money on, now that he's willing and able.

Some guys luck into great situations but eventually make the wrong moves and overpay the wrong players.

Some guys who once were thought highly of have fallen on hard times

That's true. Also, while I won't really defend trading Harden - even at the time, it was questionable - he hadn't yet established himself as the player he is now, and was coming off a fairly subpar performance in the 2012 NBA Finals. As I mentioned before, the cap was also lower back then, and most teams weren't laughing in the face of the luxury tax as they do now. The Thunder also still had Durant and Westbrook, and couldn't come to terms with Harden on a new deal. Questionable at the time, even worse in hindsight, but I think people do oversimplify the situation when they look back at it.

The other funny thing about Harden is that he's often criticised and deemed to be an overrated pseudo superstar; a player who can have dazzling performances and put up great regular season numbers, but isn't reliable in the Playoffs or a true franchise player that a team can build around. Yet at the same time, Presti is criticised for letting him go. It's strange how he's simultaneously seen as a team cancer, or at the very least a star who can't win anything, but at the same time a valuable player that you'd be foolish to lose.

the harden move like many others has hindsight bias all over it.

Schroder trade has expanded into three way:
The Thunder will then send Muscala to the 76ers for forward Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, and Philadelphia will send guard Justin Anderson to Atlanta, league sources said.

i think this move bumps OKC to #2 in the West. instead of force feeding the rich guy minutes, they can put in someone who will contribute. If Grant ever became a threat from 3pt land.

I wouldn't say #2, but I agree it is addition by subtraction. The fact that someone productive like Roberson will be playing those minutes will help for sure

OKC not going anywhere till they get rid of Russ. And I am not kidding. They had a really solid team this year, but Triple-Double machine needs ball on every possesion just to collect his numbers. That's the reason why they lost to Utah. He needs to play more team ball.

I can't wait for Anthony to go to Houston and wreck their season. If he would accept a 6th man role and be a scorer off the bench, it might work. But he still thinks he should start. That's his problem - he's never been a "team" player, he's not a leader, and he's a human turnstile on defense.

In fairness to him, it's probably a hard pill to swallow, and everyone has their pride and ego. It would be for the best though, an opportunity to reinvent himself and perhaps find more success.

What is left of 2003 draft are turning into shit rather fast these days. Wade done, Melo done. Addition by subtraction indeed. But still the Rockets have better best players. I am thinking the Thunder are still 2nd tier Western powerhouse perhaps rivaling Utha. Will be interesting Donovan/Gobert vs Adams/Westy once again.

As for Melo, why not go LA.

I feel like OKC will be much better with Steven Adams as the third option, instead of Melo. Him and Westbrook have great chemistry on offense.

They should also be one of the best defensive teams in the league again once Roberson comes back.

looks like he already made it known he won't settle for a bench role

Melo asked about possibly coming off the bench: "I'm not sacrificing no bench role. So that's out of the question."

The Lakers still have more "characters" on their roster, so probably them. Meanwhile, I'm interested to see if the person who promised to buy everyone who Re-Tweeted him a copy of NBA 2K19 will follow through on that.

LeBron will keep the guys in check. I mean he had Delonte West as a teammate.

I think Melo has a shot at being a starter, especially with Ariza gone. Had Ariza not left for Phoenix, I would have said it was questionable
