Would you consider Nerlens Noel as a potential MLE option? If he is willing to take a long term deal, I think they should take the risk. Wouldn't be surprised if Celtics let Smart go and sign someone with the full MLE for the sort of money they were expecting to pay Smart.
I actually love what Nerlens brings on the defensive end, he is more mobile than Baynes. However, would this be assuming the Celtics moved on from Baynes/Theis? I've been having trouble deciding who I would want to keep out of those two. While I like Theis's mobility, his shot blocking, and range... I like the toughness we get with Baynes. Baynes can be used to guard the likes of Embiid, Towns, etc.
Is Nerlans at this point really an upgrade from those two? I think he hasn't hit his ceiling as a player, he has shown flashes what he can do. I also believe he may have been humbled and matured from all of this, realizing that he can be a solid role player on a team (even off the bench), but not be a star.
I've always liked his game, if I feel he can stay healthy I take a flyer. But I question his value over Theis and Baynes...
