2018 PLAYOFFS: (2) Boston vs. (7) Milwaukee

Postby Lamrock on Thu Apr 12, 2018 1:18 pm

Milwaukee loses to the Sixers, and falls to #7 to play Boston in the first round instead. Somehow, I don't think they mind too much...

On paper, the Bucks have way more talent. Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward are both out for the season, while the Bucks have superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo flanked by borderline all-stars Eric Bledsoe and Khris Middleton. Even Jabari Parker and Malcolm Brogdon are healthy.

And yet... the Bucks aren't very good. No disrespect to Joe Prunty, I know pretty much nothing about him, but Boston has a massive coaching advantage. Milwaukee makes this a competitive series on talent alone, but I think Boston grinds it out in 6.

This may be another situation where I'm selling the lower seed short, especially given the injuries to the Celtics, but I'm going with them in five. I'll pick them to overachieve, but without Kyrie and Hayward, ultimately falter in the second round.

Nah. I think this will be a close series, but Bucks in 6. Having your top 2 offensive stars go down is just too much for youngins to handle.

i honestly would not be shocked if the bucks take the series, you dont go into the playoffs down your best 2 players and expect a lot. smart also being our hurts big time. celtics had a great season and still have a great future so no worries from me

Game 1 was by far the best game of opening weekend. This has potential to match the 2009 Bulls/Celtics series in terms of epicness

I think all of this says something about the Bucks, it will be an important offseason for them.

The Celtics down the two biggest offseason acquisitions (two all stars), losing a big minutes player in Smart, and losing Theis who was a part of the regular rotation, are still favored against a full Bucks team. Big win for the C's, hell of a shot by KM with 0.5 to go. Rozier is a starter in this league, what an amazing improvement he has made over the last few years.

Tatum is poised, he looks like a veteran out there. I still think Celtics in 6, but this series has the potential to go 7 (I agree with Lamrocks statement above). This series could continue to be close and real exciting.

Big game for The Greek Freak, but Jaylen Brown matched his 30 and the Celtics' bench stepped up. Boston up 2-0 as the series shifts to Milwaukee.

While I think anything could happen in the East, hard for me to consider the Celtics making the finals this year.

With that being said, I'm enjoying the ride. Such a great opportunity for the young guys to grow. Tatum, Rozier, Brown are getting priceless playoff experience, but lets not forget the bench guys: Jabari Bird and Semi Ojeleye, Bird wouldn't even be playing if it weren't for the injuries, probably the same with Semi.

Monroe with a big 17 minutes, 12 points and 4 boards. Nice to see him play well against his old team, while also getting the W. Underrated acquisition by the C's, it's paying off. I've stuck up for Monroe on here before, dude certainly impacts the game in a positive way if he is put in the right situation. He seems to like Stevens system (He has said so himself), and he looks comfortable out on the floor.

I remember how much crap Ainge took by taking Jaylen, as well as the crap for trading down to get Tatum at 3 (passing on Fultz). Those moves are looking quite good at the moment, clearly the right moves by Ainge, and the C's brass overall.

Again, championship or finals? eh... but I'm enjoying this.

And, Bledsoe saying he doesn't know who Rozier is after game 2.... ridiculous. Rozier has played 78 minutes completely turnover free, and had 23 points in both games. Bledsoe is 9-25 after the first two games, with 6 TO's. I Understand being confident, but c'mon... acknowledge that you need to do better.

Yeah, trash talk like that carries more weight when you're not down 0-2 and been outplayed by the guy you're dismissing. Maybe it's just him pumping himself up, and hey, freedom of speech and all that, but there's wisdom in picking your words carefully in case you need to eat them later on. Then again, more fuel on the fire, I suppose.

What I find funny about Bledsoe's comments is that Rozier seems to be following in his footsteps (as well as guys like Reggie Jackson) when it comes to being a promising PG backing up an elite one. I imagine the Celtics will probably have to trade Scary Terry unless Kyrie's knee gives out, and some random team will give him 15 to 20 million per year. Worth it? I don't know.

Prunty is a lame duck, but I think he should consider starting Malcolm Brogdon. This series isn't over.

It's supposedly because Rozier called him Drew Bledsoe.

Either way, this is beyond the point of stupidity on Bledsoe's part.

This has really been a break-out series for Jaylen Brown. I know a lot of people were already high on him, but he's seriously looked like an all-star in this series. Unfortunately for him, the Bucks have knotted the series at two games apiece.

Shout-out to Thon Maker for doing things these past couple games. He's still not very good, but his defense made an impact down the stretch.

I still think the Celtics can get the job done in six, but it's a little precarious at the moment.
