u gay and finally Gary Oldman wins an Oscar and a leading actor win at that, him not winning before was a greater travesty than people whining about DiCaprio or Derrick Rose winning NBA MVP. Oldman has more acting ability than DiCaprio and the former deserves the win, Oldman could play better basketball than Rose too if the movie role demanded it.

Everybody knows original screenplay is the real best picture category, without the politics and bullshit

Best picture is based on the 'sum of all its parts' of a movie - script/dialogue, actors, director, cinematographer, sound, effects, etc.

Screenplay is based on the script, or an award for the writers.

Even though they're kinda lame, I love the Oscars. It's like the Super Bowl for movies. I love to get together with friends, buy a bunch of alcohol, and see who can predict the most winners.

The Shape of Water would not have been my Best Picture choice.. While it was a cool looking movie, and Sally Hawkins was very good in it, I just didn't find it all that compelling. Get Out would have been my pick, out of what was nominated. I thought Lady Bird and Dunkirk were better as well. I'd have even preferred Three Billboards, a movie that was extremely enjoyable despite not making any sense whatsoever.

Oh well. KOBE!

honestly i am glad get out didnt win, it was not that good of a movie. its a good movie but not best picture quality at all. then again best picture is a shell of what it used to be. they no loner even nominate the best movies of the year. shape of water was boring.

I appreciate shape of water for being a little different, and the sets and costuming were phenomenal, but I didn't think it was that great of a movie since it was so predictable. I mean the whole story was given away in the trailer. I wish I hadn't seen the trailer before watching the movie.

Get out was great. I don't watch very many movies, so I can't say if it deserved to win but it was the best scary movie I've seen in over a decade. And I don't like many scary movies anymore.

i liked the things get out did right but it had too many holes for me to call it a great movie. too many things didnt made sense other than to progress the story. like wtf would you leave pictures just out like that of all your previous captures? i mean sure if its just you there but when bringing the next guy home? wtf is the dad who created the process acting like a slave? there was far too many things that just made no sense. still even with those things i enjoyed the movie which says a lot about the stuff it got right. its just in no way best picture quality for me. i would have taken it over shape of water though for what its worth

I have given some thought in rewatching get out. knowing the twist ahead of time, you can't take everything at face value and scenes like the initial cop scene have a different perspective
