Yes, I would put the Sonics ahead of the Blazers for prime payton and better surrounding star quality casts. I always regarded the that year's Blazers one of the weakest finalists.

Neither team makes a good case to be included in upper echelon teams that made Finals anyways.

Yeah, No more Kareem, hurt key player, HIV announcing Magic in same year, recent expansion teams.

the '97 jazz aren't even close to the last 2 GSW teams. Sorry to all the other Bulls fans and such. obviously that's no shot at the Bulls as that was out of their control

Oh yeah, that was one of the best playoff series I ever saw, right up there with Sixers/Celtics '81 ECF, Knicks/Celtics '73 ECF, Bulls/Pistons '90 ECF or any of the Knicks/Bullets series from the early 70s.

I've seen my share of nasty playoff series, but NOTHING topped that '90 ECF. One sports talkie described it as "evil", and he was right. Nastier than the Celtics/Pistons rivalry. It was like Ali/Frazier.

the bulls had to get our of the east though which was much different back then. today its a free trip to the finals for lebron where the real challenge awaits while back then the bulls knew if they made the finals they were winning

What do you think were the greatest opponent from East then, in the years he won? Rik Smits and Reggie? Ewing and Starks? Bogues and Johnson? Mason and Rice?

Loved both teams.

Reggie's Pacers were nice I remember. They really had a great shot at winning it all had they made the Finals in the following year instead of one of the weakest finalist(historically) Houston/Sprewell. What if they conquered the young Tim Duncan, we would be seeing Reggie's career in different light today.

i think in the 93 conf finals, NBC caught the beloved MJ saying "F you " to the Xman. even replayed it. good times

some great series for the pacers-knicks had. i didn't particularly like those 2 teams but man that was great

Good for MJ, even though I love the X-man. Love when it gets chippy. The Knicks were tough.

And here is the video.

Nice heated exchange, love it. Two elite competitors going at it.

Obviously some impressive dunks from MJ, Nique, and others, but check out Mike Conley's father taking off from the free throw line!

The two handed dunks from close to the foul line always impress me.

However, that video made me think of the classic clip from Javelle McGee. We can call this classic now, works for the thread

I remember that. Would've been huge if he made it! There have been some long in-game dunks, though.

Froze him on that one. Great hustle from Pippen and long pass from Pippen, too.
