Mihm dominates his match-up against Kaman

Everybody anticipated a Brand – Magette vs. Odom – Bryant match-up. But 2 other players want to join the show. Kittles score 10 points for the Clips while Mihm score 7 points for the Lakers. Mihm not only score but also made Kaman to leave the floor due to 2 early foul. But Clippers with their defense held Lakers to a 47% and also forced Lakers too many turnover. With their defense at high gear, their offense just followed. They shot a very high 68% in the field for a season-high 33 1st quarter points for a 9 point lead. Magette had 8 before committing his 2 foul while Odom had 9 to lead the Lakers.

Kobe, lead a 11-2 run, goes for a reverse lay-up

The 2nd quarter then turns to a Brand – Bryant fight. With Odom sitting in the bench after playing the whole 1st quarter, Bryant made 3 free throw from Kittles foul while attempting a 3. He then followed it with 2 lay-ups. He scored 9 points in that 11-2 Lakers run. Brand carried the scoring load with his partner Magette nursing 2 early foul. He and Livingston try to re-gain their lead. They did and made a run before the quarter ends. The score stands at 54-43 in favor of the Clippers.

Image

Bad news for the Clips, Kittles was called for his 4th foul just under a minute expired in the 3rd quarter. But the Lakers couldn’t take advantage of it. The lead of Clips even became bigger at 14. Livingston continued his excellent gameplay in this quarter. One of his highlight was a coast to coast drive for a dunk with Mihm under the basket. It looks like the game was slipping to Lakers hand but a great substitution Coach Rudy T made. Korver enter the court and play the small forward position. With Kobe and Odom also in the court, it leaves Korver open and buried two consecutive long baskets. Grant controlled the rebounds and also helped with few baskets. Entering the 4th quarter, Lakers will try to erase a 2 point deficit.

Image

The game was close in the final period. Coach Ruddy T saw how Livingston dominates his match-up against Stoudamire so he put Vujacic on him. Sasha made great job guarding his fellow rookie. Bryant and Odom try to bring Lakers to their 3rd consecutive victories but Magette had plan of his own. With 1 minute left, Clips hanging with a 1 point lead, Magette made a very crucial three with shot clock almost gone. Odom answered with a lay-up, the score 90-88. Bryant fouled Livingston and split his charities. After a timeout, Lakers decide to go for a quick 2 and then foul. Livingston this time made both free throws. Without timeout and 4 sec left, Korver dribble the ball and took a desperation 3. The ball only hit the back of the rim as time expires. Clippers win over the Lakers.

Nash, Stoudamire Dominates Game

STARTING LINE-UP
Image

Image
Even with foul trouble, Amare put up good numbers.

The Suns jumped to an early lead, took a 14-2 lead. They shot a very high 60% form the field. The Lakers, on the other hand, seems like they didn’t yet recover from the Clippers lost. Coach Rudy T tried to use the strategy were he put Korver at small forward. But this time it didn’t work. He then tried putting Odom to small forward and put Grant at power forward. Odom, playing his natural position, found his offense and try to bring back Lakers to the game. He also did a wonderful job guarding Marion. The game then somewhat turned into lots of sloppy play due to great defense by both side. The quarter ended tie with a very low score 18 all. Amare Stoudemire leads all scorers with 8.

Image
Grant dominates his counterpart as both Vroman and Amare got in to early foul trouble.

Image
Marion's follow-up dunk, led the Suns but was not enough.

2nd quarter was a different ballgame, in Lakers side. Lakers score 31 points in this quarter will limiting the Suns to 18. Bryant, Odom and especially Grant paced the Lakers in scoring. Grant also forced Amare and Vroman to foul trouble as both were called for 3 personal fouls. They made an 11-1 run to turn this from close ballgame to a double digit lead. Nash struggling but his back-up Barbosa made a good job filling in for him. Lakers hold on to a 49-36 halftime lead.

Image
After struggling in 1st half, nash dominates the game, 3 rebound shy for a triple-double

Image
Odom grab this rebound as he, Grant and Bryant put the game away

Marion scored 10 points in trying to bring back Suns. Steve Nash finally shows up scoring 8 in this quarter. But the consistent great play by Bryant, Odom and Grant keep the Lakers lead in double digits. Suns didn’t get much from Amare as he was hobbled with foul trouble. Same with Vroman as both have 4 fouls forcing to use John Wallace in power forward position. At the end of the 3rd lakers will try to protect their 10 point lead.

Image
One of Kobe highlight reel. A 360 one-handed dunk

Suns start the 4th quarter with a turnover, not the type of start you want if you were trying to come back from a deficit. The once 10 point lead was ballooned to 18. Nash after struggling in 1st half scored 12 points in this final period but wasn’t enough to turned things around. He also led the team in rebound with 7 and assists with 10. Bryant continued his scoring as he finished with 31 points. Everyone seems to see the great plays of the Odom, Bryant and Grant but only few saw the great impact of Stoudamire as he finished with 10 points, 7 assists and even led the team with 6 rebounds. Lakers win this one 107-88.

A CAREER GAME

STARTING LINE-UP
Image

Image
Bryant goes for a stepback jumper for a career-high 62 points

Kobe started the game with a steal from Gordon for an easy dunk. Everybody knew Bryant will dominate his rookie counterpart. But also in this season we saw not only one rookie but 2 that Bryant dominates his matchup but lose the game. (Hawks’ Childress and Clippers’ Livingston) At this game everybody was surprised to see Bulls young backcourt dominates the Lakers backcourt. Bryant scored 14 but Stoudamire was held scoreless. Gordon had 9 and Hinrich with 8. Also Deng added 8 while Odom also was scoreless. After the 1st quarter Bulls led by 9 points, 31-22.

Image
Nociano made an steal, and made few 3 point shot

Image
Odom made a dunk after a stealon Hinrich

It was pretty much the same story in the 2nd half. Only Bryant was doing most of the damage against the Bulls. While on the other side it was still the trio of Deng, Gordon and Hinrich. Nociano also helped the team with his two 3 point basket and a good defense against Odom. But when Odom and Stoudamire start scoring with a little help from Korver, the lead that once stood at 11 was cut down to 1. Bryant already surpassed his season average finishing the half with 32. Curry joined the scoring for Bulls with 8 in the quarter. At halftime Lakers lead Bulls 60-58.

Image
Gordon led the Bulls with his 3 point shooting.

The 3rd quarter was a very high scoring game. Lakers scored 35 while Bulls have 30. Bryant still paced the Lakers with big 46 points and looks like a career game in a making. Odom scored few baskets to helped Bryant to protect the leads. The Bulls are on target at 3 point area with a 6 of 13 in that quarter (13 of 26 thru 3 quarters). Nociano, Smush Parker, Gordon, Hinrich and Deng all converted a 3 point shot. The Lakers led a high scoring game 95-88.

Image
Odom dunks as he try to bring back Bulls in the game.

Image
Stoudamire goes for a lay-up.

The Bulls make a 10-0 run to surprised the relax Lakers. Curry led that run scoring 6. Bryant re-enter the game and his presence was easily felt. He and Odom restored the lead to 9 and held it most of the way. The Bulls are still the ballgame with 2 minutes left trailing just 6. But when they badly needed a 3 points then they find themselves hitting bricks. The Lakers then converted all the intentional fouls Bulls committed to hold on for the lead. Bryant finished a career-high 62 points for a 126-113 win.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Nov 22 -- The Los Angeles Lakers announced Friday they have activated Chucky Atkins and placed Kareem Rush on the injured list.

Atkins will be in uniform tomorrow night when the Lakers host the Milwaukee Bucks at Staples Center

RECOVER JUST IN TIME

STARTING LINE-UP

Bryant fly high for a 47 point performance.

Lakers seems like they never take a break, they just continue where they left off. Especially Kobe Bryant as he easily scored 18 points. He started the game with a 3 point shot and followed it with a steal against Van Horn. Redd paced the Bucks with 7 point. Odom and Stoudamire had 5 a piece. Lakers forced the Bucks to 48% while shooting a 64% on the field. Bucks also had already committed 10 turnovers. The score was 34-22 in favor of the Lakers.

Image

Mason received an alley-oop pass from James

Lakers extend their lead in the 2nd quarter. Thanks to Bryant’s 24 points output they now lead the Bucks by 24 points. Odom also joined the scoring barrage by scoring 9 in this quarter. Korver with his outside sniping score 8 points. Redd was called for his 3rd foul to add woes to Bucks. Mason lead the team with his 12 points. Lakers leads 67-43 at halftime.

Image
Van Horn was unconsious at the 3 point line

Image
James joined Van Horn in bringing back the Bucks in the 3rd quarter

The Lakers came from the locker room relaxed while the Bucks were hyped. The 2nd half started by a long shot by Redd. But just after a minute, he was called for a foul trying to reach against Stoudamire. Trailing by 22 with your best players out with foul trouble, that was a big problem. But Van Horn didn’t want to surrender the fight. With help coming from Mike James, Van Horn shot the light out as he scored 15 points on 7 of 8 on the field (3 of 4 shooting from downtown). James on the other hand led the fastbreak attack of Bucks scoring 10. With Van Horn shooting and James fastbreaks the lead was cut down to 10. Bryant fight toe-to-toe with Van Horn as he also scored 15 to protect the lead and Lakers was leading 88-74 after 3 quarters.

Image
Mihm dunks over Santioago.

In the 4th quarter, Lakers protected their 14 point lead and even made it 18. But a back-to-back-to back 3 point shots (Van Horn, Redd, Van Horn) cut the lead to a single digit after a long time. The game was slipping to Lakers as the Bucks even lead the game at 112-019. But Bryant and Odom made back to back baskets to regained the lead. Bucks was trailing by 1, 113-112 with 15 sec left, Redd missed a 3 point shot. They then fouled Bryant, who calmly sank both free throws to make it 115-112. Then a steal by Odom for a jam sealed the game with 5 seconds left.

Ex-KING WELCOMES THE QUEENS

STARTING LINE-UP

Image
Divac welcomes his former team at Staples Center.

Everyone was wondering how Divac will play against his former team. It was the 1st game of Divac after spending in the injury list. The Lakers, playing one of the high scoring team in this season, trailed the game 6-0 courtesy of Webber. Odom answered it by 6 of his own. Webber was called for his 2nd foul. In the next possession, it was Christie who was called for his 2nd foul. With 2 of Kings’ starter at the bench, the Lakers made a huge run, scoring mostly on fastbreaks while limiting the Kings with so many forced shots. Only Bibby try to give a fight but it was not enough as Bryant and Odom combining for 22 points, 2 shy of the whole Kings. The score was 39-24.

Image
Odom scored 31 pts, was fouled by Bibby for a 3-point play

Kings showed some sign of coming back when Stojakovic made consecutive baskets. They were able to bring it down to 8 point deficit.
But Lakers bench headed by Vujacic, who scored 9 points in this quarter made it back to 16 point lead. Webber play limited minutes as he was called for his 3rd foul. Going to the locker room Lakers hold an 69-55 lead.

Miller blocked Divac's lay-up

Stojakovic, Bibby and Jackson offense helped the Kings trimmed the Lakers lead to just 1 point. Their forced Lakers too many turnovers as they slowly crawled back into the game. Bryant and Odom were the only players to make an impact to game as they struggled to find another options in their offense. They were able to regain some cushion as they headed to the final period as they lead 90-82.

Hobbled by foul trouble, Webber got injured in the fianl period.

Image
Bryant continued his hot shooting as he ave. 47 ppg in his last 3 outings

The Kings tied the ballgame at 101-101. But still the Lakers have Bryant and Odom to rescue them. Webber left the game after he got injured 4 minutes left in the game. AN ALL AROUND GAME

STARTING LINE-UP
Image

Image
Stoudamire carried the Lakers in the 1st quarter.

Image
Davis lead the Hornets with his 30 points

This game was a very low scoring game, due to lots of turnovers and a very low shooting percentage. Stoudamire led the lakers with 9 points, 6 of them came from the 10-0 run of Lakers to start the ballgame. Davis 10 points helped the Hornets to make it a 1 point deificit heading to 2nd period.

Image
Vujacic came from the bench to helped Lakers win this game.

It was still a Davis-Stoudamire shooting affair. Bryant was struggling to find his shot as the Hornets double team him as he touches the ball. Bryant then tried to find his teammates. He tallied 6 assists and Vujacic getting most of those dishes. Vujacic scored 8 points all in this quarter. The score was 48-43 at halftime break.

Image
Magloire dunk as they lead the Lakers in the 3rd quarter.

Image
Mashburn made an impact against the Lakers

Lakers don’t know what hit them as they see their lead gone and was now facing a 10 point lead heading to the final period. Odom and Bryant were struggling offensively and needed to regain their true form if they want to win this game. Stoudamire that carried the Lakers throughout the ballgame was held scoreless. Wesley on the other hand scored 14 of his 19 points in this quarter to helped Davis.

Image
Bryant struggled but still tallied a triple-double.

Image
Odom timely baskets helped the Lakers came back to the game.

Lakers found a way to win the game and it was thru defense. They used full court press using Odom and Vujacic while in half court set they play zone defense anchored by Divac. Odom carried the team thru scoring with helped from unlikely player in Vujacic. Bryant may struggled the whole game but still finished with 14, way below his scoring the past few games. But he done different things like rebounding and passing. In result, he finished with a triple double to win the Player of the Game honor. Davis finished with 30 points. it was a close ballgame and it was just deicided from the last Hornets possesions as Davis missed the last shot.

STARTING LINE-UP

James suprised the Lakers in the 1st quarter

The last time this 2 ballgame met, Lakers prevail but Van Horn shown his offensive skills. This time they did a wonderful job in stopping him. But they surprised to see James scored 9 points while dishing out 5 assists. Bryant paced the Lakers with 7 points. Most of the 1st quarter showed bucks in the lead only for the Lakers to grab the upper hand with the Vujacic 3 point play before the quarter ended.

Image
This Old Man can still jam.

Redd then exploded in the 2nd quarter scoring 12 points. It was answered by Odom by scoring 9 points. And Odom got a big helped from Malone and Butler to grab the lead and made it a 7 point lead as they approached the halftime break.

Image
Redd showed his offensive arsenal in front of his homecrowd

Image
Bryant having a silent night jam this one down

Redd continue with his offensive game. But he didn’t get enough helped from his teammate. James who had a big 1st quarter did not score in this quarter. On the other hand, Lakers with balance scoring and great defense still hold a 6 point lead at the end of 3rd period.

Image
Gadzuric only points came in garbage time.

Image
Odom led a balance scoring game of Lakers

The other Bucks finally woke up but it was too late. They now face a 16 point lead. With James, Kukoc and Van Horn scoring it was Redd who turned cold as he only scored 5 points. It was still the balance scoring of Lakers led by Odom that killed the Bucks. Bucks made a late run but as I said was too late and lost the game to Lakers for the 2nd time.
