I'm hoping it's a bit lighter than the main "episode" films, and Rogue One. It's Han Solo so obviously it should be badass, but I think there should be some levity, too. I don't think this is one that should be too gritty.

I liked Episode 8 well enough, though it's a different writer and director anyway.

well, it's three different directors and an unknown number of writers

they rewrote and reshot 90% of this movie, those aren't just RLM jokes

Disney rebuilt this movie from scratch

that gives me faith that they'll screw this up like they did Rogue One

they have no idea what they actually want to do with these "A Star Wars Story" films, that was clear when they rebuilt Rogue One to eliminate any dramatic impact that strayed outside nostalgia beats

Tony Gilroy came in and did six months of reshoots and re-editing the film. They even shot multiple endings where different sets of people survived. Forest Whitaker's entire set of scenes were rewritten and reshot.

look at the teaser, basically none of those shots or scenes are in the actual film

most notably Jyn against the Tie Fighter, Jyn in the Empire suit, "this is a rebellion isn't it?", all the large scale ground battle scenes were stripped and simplified despite having been already done, they added in all the background scenes about her father, Orson Krennic had whole scenes stripped from his character

this teaser is nearly on par with Age of Ultron's teaser as suggesting a vastly more compelling and fun film than we got, Edwards (and Whitta to his rare credit) wanted a classic war heist film set in Star Wars, Disney liked the part after "film" most

and yes, the best part of that teaser is still homeless Mark Hamill glaring at the camera at the end while Kathleen Kennedy babbles

that Age of Ultron teaser just because i'll never get over it, you hear me! NEVER!

As long as Rogue One led into events almost immediately preceding A New Hope, it was going to have a foregone conclusion. As far as prequel side stories are concerned, I liked it. The plan was rather familiar, but then, that's kind of how it goes with Star Wars. Disable shields, attack the vulnerability, blow something up.

Ah, that explains why there were scenes I'm the trailer not seen in the movie

I'm guessing you've enjoyed some of the movies at some point. If you've lost all enthusiasm for it though, probably best not to torture yourself.

You've already invested too much of your interest and time into it and you want to see it through.

its true, the show is basically garbage now but i keep watching. however i now wait til the mid season finale to watch catch up and then repeat for the season finale. btw breaking a season in half like that is fucking stupid

I agree. All the big shows do that to milk the show for all its worth. It was bullshit when they split the final season of breaking bad into two seasons of 8
