For Star Wars Battlefront

OP wrote:Seriously? I paid $80 to have Vader locked?

This is a joke. I'll be contacting EA support for a refund... I can't even playing fucking Darth Vader?!?!? Disgusting. This age of "micro-transactions" has gone WAY too far. Leave it to EA though to stretch the boundaries.

EA wrote:The intent is to provide players with a sense of pride and accomplishment for unlocking different heroes.
As for cost, we selected initial values based upon data from the Open Beta and other adjustments made to milestone rewards before launch. Among other things, we're looking at average per-player credit earn rates on a daily basis, and we'll be making constant adjustments to ensure that players have challenges that are compelling, rewarding, and of course attainable via gameplay.
We appreciate the candid feedback, and the passion the community has put forth around the current topics here on Reddit, our forums and across numerous social media outlets.
Our team will continue to make changes and monitor community feedback and update everyone as soon and as often as we can.

200k downvotes and counting.

I find the lack of goodwill in recent AAA games disturbing.

Reddit is for fags.

That said, EA really needs to get things under control.

The backlash and media attention has grown so large that they've temporarily disabled micro transactions. They'll probably enable it soon enough but I'd say that's a win for the consumer for the time being

I'd like to believe it's the start of a trend, but that's probably wishful thinking.

The removed refund button Sauru was talking about was a fake post on reddit they made to push their narrative, that also had a shitload of upfags and hit the first page. There was never a refund button in the first place.

I always hate on reddit and its mindset but in this case they are actually on the right side of it.

I bet this is a pr move to try to get people to buy and once that happens, they turn it back on. They are banking on people being dumb

Possibly, but I'm sure they'll want to continue the series, and that'd be a good way of turning people off of it. Also, considering the outrage so far, I doubt everyone would cheerfully say "Ah, guess they got us, well we might as well pay up" if they did that.

Loot box controversy has forced a change in Destiny 2 and Need for Speed payback. It won't completely stop companies from trying to pump the customer for extra cash, but it's a start
