Tabuse Signs With Suns

I saw this guy play in the Summer League...he was pretty good. Good pick-up?

Thu Sep 09, 2004 1:48 pm

Perhaps, but his fate is the same one that befalls so many international players. He's signed with a team that can really afford to sign him because there's no risk. The Suns are already set at point guard, so they are not entrusting the success of the team (or a lot of minutes) to him.

...I hope the Suns trade Barbosa and Vujanic. I really like both players and they would get more play time on a team like the Hawks.

I thought they were planning on playing Barbosa as a combo backup in the Bobby Jackson mold? He's more suited for SG anyway.
I do agree they should trade the rights to Milos to a team that can use him. They probably will though, what use do they have for him now?

He looks like a Asian Backstreet Boy

Fri Sep 10, 2004 12:47 am

i guess he will be waived or traded by the season opener
but if coach move barbosa to sg, things might change

David Stern is a genius, he's already making money off China's one billion plus market thanks to Yao Ming. Why not milk the 127 million plus population of Japan. If you guys have heard of baseball players Ichiro Suzuki who plays baseball for the Mariners and Hideki Matsui who plays for the Yankees, you'd know how much the Japanese love their athletes who come to North America. They are idols in their land and have their own photographers at games.

I read an article about this guy a few weeks ago, apparentely he's easily the most famous basketballer in Japan so I can see from a marketing point of view why they'd wanna hire him.

They won't move Barbosa to SG. They already have Joe Johnson and Casey Jacobsen at SG. And he's too small and he hasn't developed a great jump shot yet. Tabuse is only going to play during garbage time since Nash will play about 30-35 a game and the other 15 or so minutes go to Barbosa. So I agree with whoever said they just signed him to make money off him.

I would mention Quentin Richardson before I mention Jacobson.

The guard rotation will probably be Nash for 30 minutes with his breaks coming mostly in the 2nd and 3rd. Barbosa will back him up and get 17-18 minutes. I think Joe is starting and he wil get 30-35 minutes and Q will play just about 25. For a little while each game they will probably go with a big backcourt of Q at SG and Joe at point.

Yuta is a scrub. I think David Stern must tell teams this player has been really good overseas but can't do shit in the NBA. Sign him, cut him, he get's a payout, and we get more fans.

Sorta relevant...
Will Nash make the All-Star team this year?
