NBA 2K18 Steam Key Sales

Talk about NBA 2K18 here.

NBA 2K18 Steam Key Sales

Postby TGsoGood on Mon Sep 11, 2017 5:06 am

I am seeing several sites selling NBA 2K18 steam keys below $60 bucks. Does anyone know if these are legit?

https://www.google.com/search?q=nba+2k1 ... 00&bih=659

EDIT:
I'm seeing some of these sales are region locked in combination with releasing on Sept 19th instead of 15th.

This one shows no region lock - $37.06 but showing 9/30 release
https://www.gamesdeal.com/nba-2k18-preo ... gen&cy=usd

Region lock? - $ 37.67 with 9/15 release
https://en.mmoga.net/Steam-Games/NBA-2K ... rrency=USD

I've picked the first keyseller from isthereanydeal which apparently had the lowest price on their website. That would be gamebillet.com which is selling their 2K18 keys at 39 euros - that would be around 47 bucks. That is not region locked, no russian key or some bullshit.
I've also e-mailed them today, asking if I will get any preorder bonus because apparently some keysellers proved wrong in this situation. I've got my e-mail from them in 2 minutes. They have confirmed that I will be getting my Key 1 or 2 days before the 15th so I can preload the game ("as we usually do every year" - they seem to be pretty experienced about their NBA 2K games), as well as any preorder bonus described in their games info (which was basically the standard pre-order bonus, they've copy - pasted everything). They've also mentioned that they already have the keys and they just need the green light from the developers to share them. That is another proof they are legit, a third party website would never get those keys before the actual preload date. Only proffesional websites that work directly with the developers get those ahead.
So unless they are lying to my face (which I highly doubt it), Gamebillet.com is legit.

Just for my knowledge. I'm curious...

Why buy a steam key from another site for $59.99...when you can buy the game one Steam for $59.99.

Anyways when it comes to the region lock bullshit, living in europe I can just use a VPN to get past it if I ever wanted to play on American servers. If you're living in the US though, make sure you get the right key. Don't screw yourself over just to save 10 dollars.

I will say it again, though I might begin to look like a drug dealer on deep web, lol. Steam is rejecting my credit card, maybe because I own a student Visa. I would have done that if there weren't any better prices. The moment I get rid of it in October and make myself a new credit card, Steam is the place for me. I ain't taking any risks for 12 bucks no more.

Exactly. I was forced to go on another route but if Steam works for you, go that route.

Went back to gamebillet.com and it seems I have this European Flag in the upper right corner. The key might be region locked afterall if you get a different price.

i myself wouldn't buy 2k18 from anywhere but steam, greenman, or amazon. you'll probably be fine with the key sites, but you have a higher chance of running into problems.

Funny enough GMG is no longer on isthereanydeal as they've had non-legit keys

They've had keys for Witcher 3 that were sold at significant discount and CD Project Red (devs of Witcher 3) said those were from unknown sources. Isthereanydeal removed them from their "legit" list.

Now this might've been a single misstep, but I remember that GMG had some very weird pricing last year for NBA in Australia.

Also this is good for isthereanydeal - this means they hold the sites to high standard and are willing to cut even the big ones.

instant-gaming.com is a grey market. Do not be disappointed when the keys come late, don't work, don't contain pre-order bonuses, etc. You get what you pay for.

Some fun stuff about them:

  • Their domain information is private (registered through a privacy organization) - that is a red flag
  • They want photo of your ID - that is not just a red flag, but also a WTF flag
  • They themselves say "The games are scanned from the box version." which is a huge red flag.
  • Their "HQ" is in a shopping mall (lol)
  • Based in Hong Kong. Common theme with companies that trade with non-legit keys.
  • Site uses slightly broken English - not a good sign
  • "The CD key that I received doesn't work" is a question in the FAQ. If that is Frequently asked it's a red flag

BTW that cdkeys site Hadley likes so much? Same deal. Private domain info. For a change owned by a company from UAE which has history of scam charges via PayPal. They ask for photo of ID. And in their FAQ they literally confess to code stripping.

There are reports of them doing it, maybe they stopped, though PayPal for first purchase seems to be common denominator.

But yeah, you always get plenty of people saying "I never had problems with XYZ". But there are reports of things like what I already mentioned happening, so it's not 100% safe. Or legitimate for that matter, they are known to abuse the system.
